Does anyone know, based on previous releases, if the new notebooks will be available immediately - as in, I could go to the store tonight (in the UK) and pick one up?

Ah, not going down the dreaded "lipstick on a pig" path - then you'd be sexist (just go ask the GOP...). "Lipstick on a hockey mom," though, would have been excellent.

or don't complain about the black keyboard either - then you'd be racist (just ask the dnc).

I don't know if stores will be stocking the new ones straight away, but they will be available to order online half-way/at the end of the keynote. Will be suprised if they are, as we usually get sniffs of rumours about delivery/codes/stores closures, which we still don't have atm. I prefer to get it online as I get a discount through work

Edit: If they are though, will be popping by Regent Street on my way home ^.^

Very doubtful.

The stores close at 8pm in the UK (I think) and the presentation finishes at 7pm.

Also it's unlikely they'll have stock readily available in the stock room, that would present too high a risk for leakage.

My feeling is that the stock is secured in central warehouses, of which I think the UK one (or one of the UK ones) is in Lutterworth?

To illustrate (for fun and to kill time...)...

Are Apple Re-sellers likely to have stock over the next few days?, there are no apple stores near me only an MCC.

sooooo excited.

now, i just gotta figure out how i'm going to pay for a new macbook pro... anyone have any payment plan suggestions for me? i'm finishing up school right now so i don't have a lot of money.

I hope it's not that awful thing we saw last night, Ives hasn't messed up yet really, I'd hate for his hindenburg to be now on the MBP just as they're starting to become a major major player in the notebook market.

I don't like that Apple is slowly dropping off ports, first optical, now perhaps FW400 on the MacBook (I have one, and I use 400!! Keep it!). Consumer-land might be heading towards wireless, but I'm pretty sure the Pro arena likes to plug things in. And sometimes it's just not feasible to upload xGB files to a server. Like with me, the fastest I get at home (where I work) is 1.5DSL. I still like burning DVD's for clients.

No worries the firewire spec has bee n designed to work over ethernet now. so an ethernet to FW adapter should be coming. :) which is awesome

Rob a bank, steal one, take out a loan. Take seige of the keynote and hold the thing for like a thirty notebook ransom and give one to me for being the get-away driver...

All I get here is a dark grey screen making the text hard to read. Do you have the dark grey background screen?

Excitement level seems to be rising. People are getting antsy. Tech writers, on the whole, aren’t used to standing for more than six minutes at a time. On the scale of strength, we’re somewhere inbetween arthritic grandma, coma victim and dying jellyfish.

Sorry you had to miss that it gave me a good chuckle.

I don't think it will be underwhelming just disappointing for long time Apple followers such as myself. Sadly, Macs have taken a back seat to iPods and iPhones. I just think Apple is going in a totally different direction that a lot of us were accustomed to.

Iagree100%!

True. My local Apple store closes at 6pm (Glasgow, Scotland). They will start selling tomorrow if they announce immediate availability. I think they will be as one of the employees said they have 'received a memo' today, but would not give any further details.

Apple resellers won't get stock for 10 days to 14 days.
