Hmmm... kinda.
I've been wanting a little aluminium Macbook for ages. Miss my 12" PowerBook.
Hoping we get a nice little 13" Alu Macbook from this but also worried about losing FireWire. I do use it occasionally for getting stuff off my video camera and onto my Mac. :-s
I don't think it will be underwhelming just disappointing for long time Apple followers such as myself. Sadly, Macs have taken a back seat to iPods and iPhones. I just think Apple is going in a totally different direction that a lot of us were accustomed to.
Anyone see that CNN clip posted? It's hilarious! "The ipod, the iphone and what now maybe the ilaptop?"

Well, if it's replaced by a faster connection ie. FW800 or eSATA I'd satisfied. Connecting a hard drive through USB2. Forgettaboutit.

I wish I was living in Pacific time so it would already be past time (it's 11:04 AM in central where i live)
Things I want in my Macbook:
Aluminum (but also black..maybe asking for too much there)
Non-white keys
Not integrated graphics (even if it's a crappy videocard) or much better integrated
iLife 09?!
and I want it to run SL if I ever got around to buying a new OS for myself.
Yeah hopefully I'll get 3/5. The iLife wouldn't make THAT big of a difference, but it'd be nice.
And I want it to all cost 1500 with tax and applecare just like the blackbook I currently want.

Of course it's to be expected on totally re-designed Macs. They usually have growing pains. I remember the original MacBook suffered from a random shut down issue. It took Apple 2 or more months to formerly acknowledge the problem. When they did, they originally told service shops to replace heatsink (which we did) and then 3 weeks later they said the problem was related to firmware which finally appeared to rectify the situation. Comes with territory.
