HA! No. You had to have purchased a new computer in the time period they state to get a discount.
When you d/l'd Boot Camp the disclaimer clearly noted it was a beta version and that it would expire. Your best recourse would be to take a reading course and learn not to believe everything a store clerk tells you. If a store clerk really knew his stuff he'd be working for Apple in Cupertino, not in the mall.
Do this.
Get 4 of your friends together with you. Buy the 5-seat version at $200.
That's $40 per person!!
A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that same household. By household we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home or condominium, but shall also extend to student members who are primary residents of that household but residing at a separate on-campus location.
When will the price drop? Doesn't Tiger, which came out in April 2005, still sell for $129 in the Apple stores?Yep, same here, I'm pretty disapointed.
That's twice as much as I was planning on spending, (well, almost), and instead I think I'll purchase the ATH-ANC7 noise canceling headphones I've been wanting for a while.
Which is sad really, because I'd rather have Leopard, but I can't justify being an early adopter for that price. DISCLAIMER: I think it's a fair price, just not what I'm willing to pay for it at this point.
I am glad that I get flamed over going and researching a little bit on the pricing. In my opinion the edu price should be the same no matter what school you are in, unless there is something special worked out and then it will be lower than the general edu price. In the past the edu price has been $69 and now it is $116, so that is all well and good. There should have been a little bit of a fore-warning on a price increase, though I know that would be too much to ask in todays business world. I personally am not a student, I am a graphic designer and getting into photography, but my girlfriend is going to school full time and is working full time (and is still barely getting her bills paid).
No one had gone to Apple and asked the question so I figured I would and get an answer for those that didn't have the time to do such.

If i order today, are they saying that it will be delievered to my doorstep on the 26th or will it just ship on the 26th??

I think the issue is not being understood. The non-students are irritated at the so-called students (because we don't know for sure that they really are) because the signature for many of the students read MacBook Pro and it's totally understandable for the non-students to get pissed at the students complaining.
No student "needs" a MBP unless they are studying film making or photography and needs a dedicated GPU.
Most of the students bought a MBP because they wanted a dedicated GPU for gaming and gaming is not needed for school. Some of them will hide behind the truth and say that they need a dedicated GPU for school.
Tiger runs beautifully, there's no real need for a student to upgrade unless it's for bootcamp...and bootcamp is used for Windows and those same students install Windows for what???Gaming.
I think they mean it will ship on the 26th at 6 PM. After this, it could take anywhere from 3-5 business days.If i order today, are they saying that it will be delievered to my doorstep on the 26th or will it just ship on the 26th?
"I can get Vista Ultimate for $10 through my university. Not that I'd want to, but still."
Sounds like the market is saying that Vista Ultimate is overpriced at $10.
You may not get it the day it comes out, but MacMall sure as hell beats the EDU discount.

So who or what am I hiding from? I do not study film, nor do I make photography, and above all, I have never once played a game on my MBP in the 19 months I have had it. However, I do thoroughly enjoy writing my thesis on a 15" screen and typing on a decent keyboard. If there is no real reason to upgrade for students, what reason exists for the home user? There might not be a necessary reason to upgrade, but compelling enough for me is the fact that I want the best Mac experience possible. For that reason I will be picking up a copy of Leopard on the 26th.
I keep seeing questions about when will people receive Leopard..Can a mod or arn please edit the topic to include this fact?
If you pre-order Leopard now it will arrive at your door on Oct.26th.
Wow, thanks for doing that. You are indeed deserving.

I'm pretty sure that is against the license - unless the 4 friends are family members.
Now, if they were your roommates...
One will land you in prison, the other with a lawsuit. I'm not saying copyright infringement is OK, but please don't buy into the copyright lobbyist nonsense that it is "stealing", like that offensive movie piracy ad that is on all of my DVDs.
