iPhone 11 Pro Apple order 9/27-10/1 delivery

I wonder if this latest mess will further delay any progress on my order, which hasn't even hot my card for tax yet.

I honestly enjoy checking thris thread more than my UPS label. My phone is clearly in the same batch as yours, and I havent been reviewing my UPS tracking as much as this thread.

I know we are all impatient to get our new babies that we are paying top dollar for, but going through the hassle of cancelling an order, getting new IUP loans, etcetera, as to not have to wait an extra week is kinda crazy. Unless you are upgrading from like an iphone 6 it shouldnt be this imperative to have this phone in your hands ASAFP.

If anything this 'delay' is giving the case I ordered more of a chance to get here in time for the phone itself.

Agreed! This forum has been really helpful, happy to know others are in the same boat. I got the same departure update as others. The Thursday delivery would be great and looks possible now, but honestly I’ll be pretty happy if it just gets here this week.

Had a mini heart attack. Unfortunately it was only the trade in kit.

I did some time math from using the UPS track on a release day phone (https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ead.2195752/page-351#lg=post-27773097&slide=0)

Here are some napkin math predictions based on the above information and our current status. Note, I calculated this to Las Vegas per the release day itinerary so your actual arrival time may vary:
  1. 4.5 hours from China to Anchorage. --- Will arrive @ 9/23 - ~2:30pm AKDT (UTC -8) or 6:30pm EDT
  2. 30 min Departure Scan @ AK --- 9/23 - 3:00pm AKDT (UTC -8) or 7:00pm EDT
  3. 18 hours release by Customs @ somewhere --- 9/24 - 7:00am AKDT (UTC -8) or 11:00amEDT
  4. 13.5 hours Import Scan @ Louisville, KY --- 9/25 - 12:30am EDT
  5. 5.5 hours Departure Scan @ KY--- 9/25 - 6pm EDT
  6. 4 hours Arrival Scan @ Las Vegas Nevada -- 9/25 - 7pm PDT
  7. Phone arrived next day --- PHONE ARRIVES 9/26
Please comment and correct if I got something wrong

The Zhengzhou-anchorage flight is closer to 7hrs. I think we’re likely on CLX9761 Which departed Zhengzhou at 4:57CST and arrives around 8:30pm Alaska time.

I’m 10/1-10/4 and my card was just charged tax. (IUP Midnight Green 256 GB ATT) Kind of sucks because I was going to grab one tomorrow since I’ll be near an Apple store. Oh well now I can track soon and panic like everyone else. Haha

For whatever it's worth, I had sent a message to UPS trying to get more information earlier. I'll include the full response:

Thank you for your email request. I understand your concern with this delivery. The exception scan has been resolved, this is an Apple deployment and special arrangements were made while these arrangements were made you saw the exception scan online.

Currently the packages are in transit, the delivery date is currently not available, however, as soon as it becomes available it will be posted online for you.

So, at least we have information that the exception is truly resolved. I interpret "Special Arrangements" to mean - a non-ups aircraft. Could be any of them. We'll know when there is an arrival scan in Anchorage (or somewhere else!) But, in all likelihood, they're in the air, and in all likelihood, Thursday.

Also if I had to bet what happened, Apple contracted some freight forwarding firm to handle all this song and dance, they borked up the export paperwork, and it missed the Yangtzee river flight. Apple hasn't adjusted the delivery date earlier because they're giving themselves some lead time (still in the window they promised, after all) and UPS isn't giving a delivery date because they aren't even in their hands yet.

Make no mistake, this is like, the super-bowl of logistics for these people. There's a lot going on beyond the normal monotony of your paper towels from amazon. But even in the super bowl, sometimes the power just goes out...

Excellent info puts the rest of pieces together. i think your guess from this is correct. Well will be interesting to see when scan in Anchorage shows up.

This also isnt the first time they’ve (Apple or UPS) had to move massive quantities of product. . Every time an iPhone or iPad is launched they deal with these logistics. And to a lesser extent with watches and macs. But this year doesnt seem as smooth as previous years. Sure there are always hiccups but the preorder process was terribly flawed.

But it always amazes me how quickly something can get from China to my little corner of the world so quickly. Amazon amazes me more because it routinely gets stuff to me in two days and I’m hours from a major shipping airport.

Guess I'm done in here. I have my phone and will return the one that was shipped if and/or when it arrives.
