iPhone 4 Line Overhaul (major repair, remake)

Could the iPhone 4S be the replacement of the iPhone 4 line. Seeing as the iPhone 4 has the Antennagate Stigma attatched to it. This would be a good time to forget all about the iPhone 4 problems it had and bring out a fixed version. And then go on selling it with a fresh name and no Stigma.

At the same time announcing an all new next gen iPhone 5 with all the trimmings.

If Apple are only launching the iPhone 4S on Tuesday its going to spell trouble for them in every way. You can be on it!!

Apple are the MASTERS of the marketing machine :apple:

I can't wait for Tuesday. You just have to go with the flow...

I agree with everyone saying that we don't need a complete redesign. I like the look and feel of the iPhone 4 so I wouldn't mind if they kept the same design but at least decrease the bezel and give it an edge to edge screen! I'll be very disappointed if after 5 generations of iPhones we still have the same 3.5 inch screen!

Guys, think about it. The iPhone 4 design is excellent - they can't keep changing it every year because eventually the design will get worse. Look at the iPod Nano line. The current model is not the most appealing of the generations. Would you agree?

Debunking that silly Tuaw rumor. Apple Insider have found the references to the "4S" too.

"There is absolutely 0 indication of a redesign coming next week: no rumors, no parts, no SDK or file-based findings, no inventory. Nothing."

"On the other hand: iPhone 4S in iTunes, N94 in SDK, N94 in inventory, tons of rumors, sightings, parts, and so on."

Apple/Only People in the know

Apple (Only People in the know), will be watching this post and many others forums smiling as people argue about what's coming out.

Please apple feed us something that will provide positive discussion on the lead up to your announcement????

As long as you pulled it up fast enough, and didnt **** it up afterwards heres what you do. 1 bag of rice. 1 iphone. Stir lightly. Rest! Water itself doesnt do much damage. As long as you turn it off, and let the rice pull the water out, you can bring most things back to life.

(oh and yeah, with rest i mean wait for like a week or so).

Thanks, yeah it's gone. Happened a couple weeks ago on a lake in the middle of nowhere. I had no rice, so I opened it up and put it in the sun for a day. When I plug it in I get a white screen only.

So, I've been hitting all the rumor sites since then trying to see what my next iPhone will be! I'll find out in a few days along with everyone else.

Who cares? Its a new iPhone!!

  • Remember Antennagate? Apple and its shareholders don't.

Please. I was referring to his condescending mention of "the lower classes". What in the hell is that supposed to mean?

Doesn't 'lower classes' just mean something like 'lower income classes', just something to do with the amount of wealth/earning potential/possibly levels of further education, etc?

Are you upset because you don't believe such classes exist, or because you thin k that the original poster was suggesting that people in those classes are inferior in some kind of important way?

If there are actually different classes that people find themselves living within, ( most probably of no fault of their own, possibly to do with geographical details of their birth, or ancestry ) and you want to ignore that and encourage others to support the illusion that such classes don't exist, then you are not helping anyone.

You might make yourself feel better if you don't believe there are class systems that constrain people and set their probable paths in life, but you might be feeling better only because that helps you to accept your own good fortune at the expense of others.

Seems pretty much confirmed to be tbh.

In the past there has been less evidence leaked for a product which turned out genuine.

In comparison, the only evidence for a redesign is leaked case designs which might even be based on a prototype.

I've enjoyed the hype up until now guys, lets do it again next year :p

its going to be an iphone4s. the focus of this years release is IOS5, not the phone.
Then explain why the keynote invite says "Let's talk iPhone"?
Expect Apple's stock to tumble if all they announce is a 4S.
It should and it would do Apple good to be humbled a bit, but it won't.

What happens when a customer sees the new phone next to the old phone and they look the same and one is far cheaper? Hmm.. Well basically the average person would go for the cheaper one.

Good point. They'll both look like a year and a half old device.

The heading of the invites was "let's talk iPhone" if it was about iOS5 or iCloud they could do that at the developers conference, this event is about the iPhone
I was just writing this myself. Besides, why would the keynote invite say "Let's talk iPhone" when there really nothing to talk about? They can't have a whole iPhone event if it's just an iPhone 4s.

That is probably why you are not the largest market cap business in the world and they are.

You don't understand PR, marketing, product development, sales and the rest, and they do.

If they only release a 4S, they will still sell them as fast as they can make them for a good while.
So broken it's the best selling smartphone of all time, yeah. Must really be an an obvious clunker to everyone.
You guys can't think past the end of your noses. "don't fix what ain't broke" is only thinking about now. What happens in 6 or 8 months when the current design is pushing 2 years!? That's when people stop buying it and realize it's just too far behind the times. 'course maybe this is what Apple wants: to milk it for everything it's worth and walk all over its loyal customers by sitting on past successes.
I'll skip this one.

Just preordered my new:
Nokia-N9-525x369.jpg
THIS is the most gorgeous/innovative phone I've seen in years. If Nokia wasn't laying off 3-4 thousand people, I might invest in this phone myself.

Personally, if apple sticks with it's 3.5" kid's phone, I'll take the next year to enjoy other, more modern phones until we see what iPhone 6 brings.

"There is absolutely 0 indication of a redesign coming next week: no rumors, no parts, no SDK or file-based findings, no inventory. Nothing."

Wrong, There were parts (front face), code name N93 in the iOS 5 beta1 SDK, thousand of cases produced from various manufacturer, AT&T (which have tested the real prototypes of upcoming iPhones that Apple gave to them) ordered iPhone 5 cases... etc.

Well if just this new iPhone 4S launches, I guess that's cool. Sure did save Apple time on designing a new one. Hopefully all that time saved will have been put towards improving the design flaws of the current iPhone 4. I'm all for recycling the old design and focusing on the flaws, creating a better product. By the time an iPhone 5 comes out, it will probably be completely redesigned and hopefully they would have had enough time to fix any problems with the redesign BEFORE it launches. Unlike what happened with the iPhone 4. Plus, this would be great for accessory manufacturers, not having to come out with a new design. Plus, customers won't have to buy new cases! It's a win-win for everyone.

There are two things I think will happen next week. Apple won't announce an iPhone 5 (just a 4S) and Tiger Woods will win his first tournament since 2009. I'm fairly confident about both and I'm not usually one for making rash predictions.

I think there will be a new iPhone 5 thats been completely redesigned.

This is Tim Cooks first public engagement for Apple since he took over and Apples first Keynote without Steve. They will want to make a big first impression and an iPhone 4s mini update wont cut it.

They are going to want to make a statement in front of the public that the company can go on without Steve and what better way than have Tim Cook release an awesome redesigned iPhone 5 Apple's flagship product that blows everyone away.

the new iPhone will come in an option of 3 screen sizes: 3.5" 3.7" and 4.0"

4 cell technologies: CDMA, GSM, HSPA+, or LTE

4 capacities: 8gb 16gb 32gb and 64gb

2 external designs: iPhone 4 design or wedge shapes tapered iPhone 5

and 2 colors: white and black

3 x 4 x 4 x 2 x 2 = 192

The only possibility I see is that there will be 192 new iPhones!

This is the truth.

But I don't want apple to be accused of copying androids masterplan.

Ask yourself this question. Which would maximize shareholder, introducing a re-design or not introducing a re-design? Your answer to that question will tell you what will happen on Tuesday.

iPhone 4S = iPhone 4 (CDMA) specs (512MB/3.5"/dual-mode) with A5

iPhone 5 = new design/1GB/3.9 or 4"/dual-mode/64GB option with A5

2012 = low power 4G chips?

Doesn't 'lower classes' just mean something like 'lower income classes', just something to do with the amount of wealth/earning potential/possibly levels of further education, etc?

No, in civilized society, people say "working class people" or "lower income individuals". Not "the lower classes" as if he was speaking from some patronizing hierarchy.

Are you upset because you don't believe such classes exist, or because you thin k that the original poster was suggesting that people in those classes are inferior in some kind of important way?

The latter.

If there are actually different classes that people find themselves living within, ( most probably of no fault of their own, possibly to do with geographical details of their birth, or ancestry ) and you want to ignore that and encourage others to support the illusion that such classes don't exist, then you are not helping anyone.

Um. I did not mean this at all. I am a working class individual, so I was actually taking personal offense to what the poster said. I am well aware of ecomonic class differences, I am simply saying that I felt he was belittling working class people and people of limited income with the way he phrased it.

You might make yourself feel better if you don't believe there are class systems that constrain people and set their probable paths in life, but you might be feeling better only because that helps you to accept your own good fortune at the expense of others.

What? You are completely lost with what I am saying. I was not saying any of this.

I bet there are more people who care about designs than who cares about the inside of devices..

I'm one of more people myself because gosh.the truth is normal people > hard/software/programming geeks in this world.

I just don't understand people saying "oh why do you want redesign" or "people who cares about redesign only are hobby horses " blah blah blah
