I don't think thats the next iPhone, the icon looks like it has ios 4 not 5, i think it's just a placeholder.

Major fail. Apple quite often disappoint. Look at the iPad2, 3GS etc all really poor upgrades.

The Nexus Prime is gonna defecate all over the 4GS.

The most popular tablet ever and the number 2 selling smartphone 3 years after it's release are failures?

What is a nexus prime? Will it sell 5% ad many units as the 3GS has sold in it's lifetime?

Just ignore him, he's getting all emotional because he has realized he isn't getting what he wants. :p

I think Apple are showing their business side with 4S. Taking a moment to don Steve's turtleneck and speculate about this from a different position:

They are going to emphasise the new iOS5 features, this "assistant" feature and reveal a minor refresh to their already crazy popular devices.

All they are doing is keeping up with their competitors, and in their eyes the Retina Display is still in a league of it's own (even though it's smaller), and the iPhone 4 is beautifully designed (I think I remember Steve saying something along the lines of "timeless" and something about being like a Leica camera during it's announcement?)

In their eyes the 4S is a winner.

Side note: Was it really an iPhone 4 they were using in the iOS5 demos :eek::eek:

Since this is a fast a furious discussion. Nobody will ever notice this post so here goes :

iTunes Match has re-enabled streaming. You can stream a song without it being downloaded.

This is because the AppleTV will have iTunes Match.

Mark this post if you read it.

It's some sugar for the masses.

I just don't see how they cannot come out with either a bigger screen or a redesign. How can they focus on things like iCloud when they have already announced all of that info? If they are having an event like this I would think there would have to be a bigger upgrade. It took way to long to just change the camera and processor.

After all, it is "Let's talk iPhone." Not IOS, because they have already told us all about that except for assistant. I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed. Either way I will be buying the new phone. :]

Ask yourself this question. Which would maximize shareholder, introducing a re-design or not introducing a re-design? Your answer to that question will tell you what will happen on Tuesday.

Dude, Jobs himself could take a dump in a box & put an Apple logo on it. It would sell & the stock would continue to rise.

4S or 5 -- it will sell. Ultimately iOS & the Apple brand make the difference. Look at all the other Apple hardware out there (laptops, desktops, etc). It's gimped, & absurdly overpriced, compared to much more powerful, featureful PC offerings. Yet buyers flock to the Apple brand time & time again.

4S or 5 on Tuesday? It doesn't matter. Not to shareholders.

I will say what I have said before:

Apple has never radically redesigned the iPhone every year. The iPhone 4 is a fantastic design and there is absolutely no reason for you all to feel that you're owed a new design.

Don't fix what isn't broken.

What happens when a customer sees the new phone next to the old phone and they look the same and one is far cheaper? Hmm.. Well basically the average person would go for the cheaper one.

Since computers can look the same externally and have huge price ranges I disagree that is what most people do

Could the iPhone 4S be the replacement of the iPhone 4 line. Seeing as the iPhone 4 has the Antennagate Stigma attatched to it. This would be a good time to forget all about the iPhone 4 problems it had and bring out a fixed version. And then go on selling it with a fresh name and no Stigma.

At the same time announcing an all new next gen iPhone 5 with all the trimmings.

If Apple are only launching the iPhone 4S on Tuesday its going to spell trouble for them in every way. You can be on it!!

I think that this does make logical sense, but would not hold my breath. They would show their cards on a redesigned 4 but not on the next gen. I still say unlikely. I hope that this assistant stuff is good enough...

Yeah, that's why we still are using all using the 3G, right? Features don't matter. Yeah, right.

Yes it was, b/c it had the AT&T 3 stripes instead of the verizon/4S 4 stripes on the antenna.

If anyone needs proof that the N94 is the iPhone 4S.

I seem to remember...

The "s" in 3GS just meant speed upgrade from 3G so why isn't it fathomable or logical to think the mystical I5 is just the iPhone with a speed upgrade and maybe a camera... hence iPhone 4s? Maybe the extra months was so all the yes men that allowed the 4 with all it's antenna gate problems to become well let's check this and that first. Maybe it's just all about a software update and with the bells and whistles in iOS 5 it might just be.

By the way just to throw so more "Hmmmm" in the mix. I also am a music producer and use a lot of products by Native Instruments. They have an app coming out that was supposed to be available October first per the emails sent out earlier this month. All emails that have came out this past week now say "available October 5"... coincidence? I think not.

One more thing.. My astrological friend has shown me this. This month (October) has "This year October does, in fact, have 5 Saturdays, 5 Sundays, and 5 Mondays..." so maybe on the 5th we'll receive the iOS 5 and the ever elusive iPhone 5th generation Iphone 4s... hmmm:apple:

You guys can't think past the end of your noses. "don't fix what ain't broke" is only thinking about now. What happens in 6 or 8 months when the current design is pushing 2 years!?

Has anyone actually considered that it may be possible that the 4S will be released Tuesday and an iPhone 5 sometime in the spring of next year or even in June?

I don't see this as anything impossible... think about it. The 4S could hold over sales during the Christmas holiday.

The iPhone 5 could forgo the current suspected tapered design, that emulates the iPad 2 and MacBook Air. Both of these products would be pushing their own design cycles by then anyway. What is the point in trying to make the iPhone iPad 2- like when 3 is around the corner? Apple could simply release an iPhone 5 a couple of months after iPad 3 that emulates the design of the newer iPad 3 and not the 2. That would make more sense to me.

Since computers can look the same externally and have huge price ranges I disagree that is what most people do

The mobile market is a lot more design conscious than the PC market. Given the choice between 2 handsets which appear identical on visual inspection, a large portion of people will go for the cheapest.

Then explain why the keynote invite says "Let's talk iPhone"?

Could be because the main gimmick to be announced will be the voice recognisition software, hence the meaning

LOL @ those who don't realize the phone market is all about constant redesign. It's been that way even with dumb phones. And as good as iOS/iPhone is, Apple isn't that great to put an end to the consumer demand of change.

There will be a freaking iPhone 5!!! :D

That is why the 3GS is the number 2 selling smartphone lmao.

Apple has proven just the opposite. Constant redesign and change is not the way to go. None of the android makers have much brand or model equity at all because they keep flooding new devices on the market.

With the release of the iPhone 4s apple could have the top three selling smartphones of 2011. Which disproves your point entirely

There's no way....If it was just a 4S- Apple would've shipped this since June.

Quite possible that the delay was due to the fact that they couldn't produce iPhones at the time at a high volume due to the iPad 2?

Look at the pic bro. They can't even spell "processor" correctly.

Image

To be fair, the second image was submitted by a different person. Cory L. joined and said that he never saw that iPhone 4S on the website and he has been refreshing it multiple times since the story aired. However, why would the iPhone 5 just randomly appear for him and no one else saw it? Hmmm.

Didn't imply there wouldn't be new features on Tuesday whether it be a 4S or a 5. iOS 5 brings a ******** of new features, which folks continually disregard here. And an A5, with or without a 4" screen, is nothing to sneeze at.
