Apple Outs "iPhone 4S" Name in Latest iTunes Beta

These have only recently been created, so they are not fake - new corporate identity, new colours and new logo and 4G which has only been released in the last 2 weeks here in Australia.
Apple is just doing this to mess with your head. The upper management team sits in their meeting room laughing their a###s of at how they can get their customers in a tither with things like this. It's all a ploy and most take the bait hook line and sinker. It helps build hype. You're all in a frenzy now and Apple is pulling the strings. Why do you guys worry so much? It will be an all new phone with lots of new features.
Stop the nonsense. Just answer the question. If given the chance why would Apple name the phone "iPhone minor upgrade" if they don't have to, what would they gain? Why would they want to give the impression of a minor upgrade if they didn't have to?
Forget every single other argument for one second and answer that.
They gain NOTHING calling it the 4S if they CAN call it the iPhone 5.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm sure I've seen all the info you have (including running the betas) on the new OS and frankly, it bores me to tears. Revolutionary? What the hell have you been drinking?
He's talking about the Cortana-like AI that will be able to have conversations with you in "Assistant"
Not even a single soul have seen iPhone 5 in flesh(or aluminum). No leaked parts. Every other analysts said "No iPhone 5, No redesign". Do you think Apple would go so far to leak '4S' parts intentionally and hide '5' parts for the big surprise? Do you have any idea how illogical it is. This news would have leaked buy now that "Apple is sending 4S decoys in the blog planet". In theory, it looks cool but they are not being run by The Riddler.
My thoughts exactly... the only people who care about ram, specs, blah blah blah are not the ones on these sites. Ant though there are numerous sites we're still only a mere fraction of all iphone owners. Mt wife tells me she wants a new iphone... she's tired of the 3Gs. I said get the iphone 4 like I have. She says no.. I'll wait and get the new iphone. I say "why". She says cause it's newer!! Which if they name the darn thing "the new Apple iPhone X" it will sell because it's newer, it's branded Apple, and the average joe consumer's not following naming scheme's. They just want what's newer!! So they can say I have the new iphone that does blah blah blah and you should upgrade... When there are still a majority of users still on 3Gs... It's a phone first for the consumer and a techie toy for the rest.

4s the cheaper option and the 5 of course the high end.
at this point it doesn't really matter to me if they do a redesign or keep the 4 design ive have my 3g for 3yrs now and its on its last legs ordered a cheapo battery to tide me over intill the new phones come out lol
as long as the phone is good while a redesign could look nice i dont care just release the new phones already lol

My opinion too. In that context, 4S is more evidence of a redesigned iPhone 5 than no 4S.
Hmm, don't think it changes much of anything. Except to lower expectations just enough so that the rumor sites keep reporting it will just be a refreshed iPhone 4, and to keep sales of iPhone 4 going strong.
Personally, I just don't see how Apple would accidentally leak something over an iTunes beta. Software they know is being released to developers and tinkerers who can find all these things out by simply using Finder. This would have to be an "intentional" leak to get folks like us discussing and reporting.
2 Phones quite possibly, but launching them this way with no real advanced notice would be super chaotic, and unprofessional. This will never happen

Why in the blue hell would Apple name it 4S when 5 sounds like a much bigger upgrade.
At minimum, 4S might be the internal name for it, but there's no way Apple would market it under anything other than iPhone 5.
If you're a consumer who wants the latest and greatest, would you rather buy something named "iPhone 5" or "iPhone 4S?"
It's a no-brainer.
4S has to be the name of the less expensive iPhone 4, designed with a World Mode chip in mind for economies of scale purposes (makes more sense to sell one world iPhone 4 instead of separate CDMA and GSM iPhone 4's). It just has to.
This is just a theory, but it could be called 4S because the 4S has an HSPA+ chip in it for 4G (keep in mind: even the $29.99 Impulse 4G phone has 4G...and the Sony Xperia PLAY 4G has a 1GHz processor at $49.99), while iPhone 5 has not only HSPA+ but also the A5 and a new design.
Hell...an 8GB HSPA+ iPhone 4S (with everything else internally the same) for $49 could dominate the mid-level smartphone market even more than the iPhone 3GS currently does because of being 4G (at least for AT&T...and it still opens up domination in the mid-level smartphone market for Verizon and Sprint, even without being 4G capable).
