I tried self-check out, and the phone asked for finger scan. but the card was rejected. I tried to insert the chip card into the bottom slot, it doesn't work either. only swiping card works.

The same happened to me at Jersey Mike' Subs. It has NFC and I was able to scan my finger but card was rejected. Chip card insert doesn't work either.

So I think that if the scan reader does not support Chip card, it won't support Apple Pay either, even though it has NFC.

So far I can use Apple Pay at McDonald and vending machines. that is right, vending machines for drinks and snacks.

If a store has a payment terminal that has NFC, unless they actively turn it off like the CurrentC retailers did, Apple Pay or Google Wallet should work just fine.

my local store has NFC activated but it would reject my credit card. it won't read chip card either, even though it has slot at the bottom.

Do you have a Visa or MasterCard? Some here are reporting that Amex but not Visa/Mastercard (and also several other scenarios) seem to work at retailers that support Apple Pay unofficially.

I have both Master and Amex but I used Master at Home Depot. I will try Amex next time.

Home Depit in NYC not supporting any cards in Apple Pay. Message comes up on terminal. Applepay not accepted

"Apple Pay not accepted" actually comes up on the terminal? That indicates they'll be able to discriminate Apple Pay among the various NFC transactions.

At least the Home Depot stores on the West coast are supporting Apple Pay unofficially.

My local HD is listed in the Mastercard Nearby app for contactless payments. I haven't tried it yet there - maybe I should go buy the switch I need to replace.

HD would be dumb to turn it off, totally dumb.

As to the posts about fees for Debit vs Credit - that is on the bank. I don't bank at places that charge ME for debit card usage. I haven't for years, gosh, like more than 10 of them! I have totally free checking accounts at both my local credit union, and USAA. No fees.

I would have to really love my bank to pay 50 cents a debit today....

Went to Home Depot on Thursday. Apple pay worked perfectly in the self-checkout lane. Fastest transaction I've ever done. Scan, hit pay, tap credit, put finger on TouchID and hold phone near terminal. Done.

Did not work for me at a Home Depot in the metro Detroit area. It scanned because they had the NFC symbol but said, "select another form of payment". Person manning self checkout said, "Nobody has ever tried to use a phone to pay before".

which CC did you use? someone mentioned it works for Amex but not master.

Tried at my local HD tonight. The phone and terminal connected, but the screen flashed "card declined." I swiped the Citi MC that's set up on ApplePay on the terminal and it went right through.

Paid with apple pay at Home Depot tonight and it worked fine. However the cashier didnt know what I was doing and I said I just paid with my phone. Then she ask to see my credit card and ID. Lol. So I pretended I don't have it with me. She hesitated for like 5 secs and said ok u can go.

Went to a local Home Depot & Price Rite supermarket yesterday & :apple:Pay worked perfectly at both locations. Location is Philadelphia suburbs

Is this guy really this worked up over whether Home Depot supports Apple Passbook II (aka Apple Pay)?

My sides.

I tried yesterday at the self checkout and my card was declined, so I swiped instead.

Citi MC. Didn't think to try another card. Oddly enough, my same Citi MC is declined at a vending machine at work with ApplePay, but my CapOne Visa works on it with AP, and my Citi card works if I swipe. So maybe it's something with MC?

The cashier at the HD self checkout saw me take out my phone and came over and genuinely seemed interested and excited to see ApplePay in use, and she wasn't sure why it was declined.

Works fine at the Williams Trace Home Depot here in Sugar Land, TX (Houston suburb).

HD not helping the situation by having a sign stating we accept Applepsy. Not working in NYC

I haven't been to home depot in a while, but last time I tried my contactless card, the machine beeped and then declined the payment. The lady told me that they disabled the contactless feature, and I had to swipe. This was about 6 months ago

It works now, the same store that declined my contactless card now works fine with contactless cards, they silently turned them all on in my area.

My home depot does in fact have NFC terminals but when used a message comes up telling the cashier to use another form of payment,This happend both from Apple Pay and a family members Note 3 using Soft Card. The cashier said it has always done that since they had the terminals installed a year ago. So I guess it store dependent on how they use them.

That is how my store used to be, and then it randomly all got switched on. Home Depot is activating contactless one store at a time, so that is why there is a discrepancy.
