Well whether it pops up or not, if it doesn’t get announced it’s still useless. It just gives me error messages now, and I’m not even sure it pops up because I had my region set to US earlier or because there’s actually something happening.

I guess thats the point. On my girlfriends iPhone who never switched the region of her phone to US there is no + in the upper right corner of the wallet. On my phone which I switched to US region before the + button appears but there is an error message if I click it. My guess is that almost everyone who is interested in Apple Pay switched his/her phone to US once in order to try things out and that's why some have the + and some not.

The page has been around like forever. Of course germany is a target market so Apple is prepared but its no sign of a rollout coming any time soon.
Also: The german translation is already used for switzerland, so they could just use the same text with different countrycode.

That argument doesn’t hold for Dutch though, there’s no Dutch speaking country with Apple Pay

Guys? Compare sunny2k1 and laufgeek... The same guy? Not sure though.

No, I think both are normal people. laufgeek might have changed regions or sth, maybe he got it without it.

I think that we interpret every sign as a clue. The fact is that everything is the same today as it was yesterday. No Apple Pay announcement for EU.

For me, thats the fun part! :) Like a treasure hunt.

He did. Ireland.... He said this 8 hours ago. Compare the pictures...

If we would see sunny again, he would have posted the stuff here.

Guys I've given up. Will be setting up an account with boon. in France and then use Apple Pay that way. I don't want to use my UK cards here due to transaction costs and losses through currency exchanges etc. According to other forums it still works if you download the app from the App Store Ireland / France.

Btw I spoke to my banks customer services today. The Sparkasse were not interested in Apple Pay. The very helpful guy told me, that from the middle of this year onwards it would be possible to use the Sparkasse Android Payment system. All I would need to do is switch my phone to Android. I told him I would rather switch banks than my phone! That surprised me! Ing-Diba said they would pass my wish for Apple Pay on to the relevant department. They would always have their eyes on the market and if they saw there was a demand for a service, they would get round to implementing it. My best suggestion is to write them an email etc and ask them to pass on your wish for Apple Pay.

good plan. Check out apfel.cash for a tutorial if needed.
I've been using boon via France for almost a year now. Soon I'll have to pay 1,49€ in monthly fees to boon but that's okay. Sometimes they have cashback promotions that make up for that. And as soon as the German banks are onboard, I'll switch over probably. Let's lean back and relax :)

The issue I have with Boon is that it's a credit card, and places like supermarkets etc in Holland don't accept credit cards. For the occasional time that I actually use my credit card in a physical store, I'm not gonna go through the hassle of setting up Boon.

ING here in Holland is always among the first, or the first, to implement new technology. That being said, I never gotten a decent reply from any customer service from any bank regarding Apple Pay. They don't know either, they just resort to default replies that don't mean anything.

LOL

Gotta love Sparkasse. If they cant make a deal with Apple for like "activiation fee" and no % like it is in other countries just forget them.

Someone should tell them today its easier to switch banks than to switch devices.

Sparkasse was one of the first banks with a really nice mobile App. The other banks apps sucked a couple years ago and Sparkasse was the one you could think their marketing wanted to say "we think forward" but they dont.

For me if N26 gets Apple Pay I go there.

That's a bummer. It has been like that in Germany too until recently with the "Girocard" system. I'm glad that all chain stores accept credit cards now and slowly restaurants and coffee places are getting on board too. The bakery and little shops are still a problem, though...

I didnt pay anywhere with Cash since last year (of course when I can use Visa/Girocard) even when I have cash in my pocket. I pay always with Visa or Girocard because I want to support a cashless germany

Big chain stores, restaurants, clothing stores etc have been accepting credits cards here for ages. It's the places where you shop most, supermarkets, DM-like places, etc that don't accept it. Those are the places Apple Pay would come in hand the most. Our card system is like Italy, so there's something in place for that.

Guys lets see what "laufgeek" tells me... If he saw it before he switched to Ireland, then there is a chance. I´ve asked him.

Right: Easy peasy. Downloaded "boon" from the UK App Store, set up a boon account with my German mobile number and address here. No problem! You don't need to enter a French address!

Just uploaded my documents to get boon plus. It states that it should be done within 48hrs. Wow! Very easy process!

I would use Boon Ireland, as they dont require you to have Plus from start to pay in a foreign country, which you do all the time if you dont live in France :)
In Ireland this rule does not apply and you can right away use the card. nevertheless, they also have a plus program which gives you higher limits and the plus program is free for 12 months if you register Plus before 01.04.2018.

No, use France or Ireland, because they have Euro. If you use UK, all payments will be converted to £ and you have currency fluctuations and possibly fees.

if you don't need more than 3.000 Euros a year I'd recommend getting it in Ireland. Boon France will stop function outside of France after some time if you don't get Boon Plus (which you get by sending in your documents as verification). With Boon Ireland you can stay with Boon basic and don't need to send those in.

Too late, set it up with France... should have done it through Ireland (at least I speak the local lingo :D ). Oh well... I hope that I only need boon for the next 12 months anyway! And even 1,49€ per month is ok. I sent them a kind email asking if it were possible to switch to the Irish version of boon.

^^Of course I didn't set up via UK, wouldn't make sense (as I already have UK cards set up in my Wallet). But it doesn't matter which App Store you download the boon app from, you just need to make sure you set the region you want it in in your settings first. As I said, I chose France.

Why don’t you wanna say more?
What did he tell you? ;-)
Any infos about Apple Pay?
Nothing special, just what @laufgeek already saw and confirmed to me /to all the Twitter users. So, keep checking your devices. It can´t be triggered. Device "calls home" and boom. The many iOS betas have a reason.

Significant number of "switches" during next week!
