Was a silent reader and just registered to mention 2 things:

I´m not sure if mentioned already: Did you notice that one month before, the dutch Apple Pay Support Site for Card Managing was englisch and now is dutch. I think this site was discussed few sites before but as I can remember not in direct relation that it was english just last month. So Netherlands must be on focus for Apple otherwise it makes no sense to put in the effort for translation. And with Netherlands the Germany rumors come in mind...maybe ;)

The other thing I wanted to ask:

https://www.iphone-ticker.de/apple-...bei-markenregistrierung-in-deutschland-94327/ (not on english language available)

The article is nearly 2 years old. I used my "normal" search skills but couldn´t find any information if the problem with the Apple Pay brand registration still exist? The portuguese bank have a similar named offer (Appy Pay) and set a protest there at the German Patent and Trademark Office.

Do you have any new information or know how to get this patent information (maybe easily online as the screenshot in the article shows)? :)

Am I right that Apple Pay is currently not a official registered brand in Germany?

Can it generally start without this registration and with still in confrontation with the protest of the portuguese bank?
Or is this maybe a reason that we wait sooooooo long? o_O

But otherwise I compared it to other apple patented brands like apple music service etc.
Apple Music started here in Germany End of June 2015 and the entry in the register was December 2015.

But there was no protest, maybe so it was possible.

Strange, but I´m not an expert on these things.

Apple Pay is registered as European Trademark against which an opposition is open.
However the mark is already under protection against misuse (as long as the opposition wont delete it).
But it has nothing to do with Germany. It affects the EU as a whole, as it is an European Trademark.

Even if it was only about Germany I don't think Apple would have postponed the Apple Pay launch due to this.
When launching the original iPhone in the US, they were also fighting an opposition against the iPhone mark in the US.
And Apple had no problem launching Apple Pay in other EU countries while the opposition is running ;)

See the attached screenshot... Ad just appeared on YouTube (from the Sparkasse). It was about Girocard + MasterCard contactless payments... And I thought the hint on the side regarding "In 2018 auch mit dem Smartphone kontaktlos bezahlen" was interesting! That phone icon does resemble an iPhone (look at that home button)! :D

I wouldn‘t bet on it, just because the icon looks like an iPhone ;)

But it‘s interessting, that the wording is common. No limitation to „coming to Android“ or „coming to Sparkassen App“ but „coming to Smartphones“

That‘s nice.

“Status: 15.12.2017, Zulässigkeit geprüft” on page 2 - whatever this means (pro BPI or pro Apple)?

That only means that the opposition is valid and accepted, but includes no information about wether it will succeed or not

@sir-hd
[doublepost=1518116190][/doublepost]I read for a long time here and on Twitter and also the Apple support pages I follow for a long time with every change. I can only say one thing to you, do not interpret so much into so-called insiders and do not hope so much. To date, no insider has reached a precise precision landing. And that will remain so until only Apple gives the start for ApplePay in Germany.

Hi @insider_no: I'm well aware of that fact, hence the smiley... anyway. Sparkasse still hasn't announced that the payment options from July this year will be just for Android. They could have done that, so it would make sense to launch both at the same time.

The last day for one of sunny2k1´s predictions is tomorrow... I suppose no one sees a + in the Wallet app or AP in settings, right?

Here at this website they talk about that Apple not allowed Sparkasse the usage of their own software over nfc.

https://www.sparkasse.de/unsere-loe...ezahlverfahren/die-zukunft-des-bezahlens.html

Sounds for me more like they talking about their own android software that is coming. For that software they already started an pilotphase at 10 Sparkasse Banks nationally.

So long???!!! Noooooo!!!:(

You should just accept that sunny was a liar. Not a word he told us was true. And considering that who knows when Apple Pay is really going to launch. There haven’t been any rumors for months besides Sunny’s words. I don’t even think Apple Pay will launch in this year at all. Because nothing has changed from two years ago to now. They could have introduced Apple back in 2014 or 2015 or 2016 or 2017. they didn’t. Situation with banks is in 2018 still the same as the years before. Card acceptance is pretty much the same like before. So why should they launch it now. I fear that Apple Pay will not launch this year nor next year. Maybe never at all. Like Apples news app for instance.

Yes looks like that. There were some rumors in August, but yea 6 months have passed. So the nearest date to announce is WWDC and if there will be no announcement, so one more year will pass without Apple Pay. If Apple has announced Brazil as a next country, I am pretty sure they will announce for Germany,Netherlands and Austria. Since these countries are way more important than Brazil.

You can read this also the following way:
"mobile payment in Germany is only available on Android at this time, because Apple did not start Apple Pay in Germany yet. As Apple does not permit the use of NFC on Apple devices, we also can not start on our own"

And... this is the truth. Google also did not start Google Pay in Germany. But app developers have access to NFC on Android devices. So the banks can implement their own services without Google.

The last day for one of sunny2k1´s predictions is tomorrow... I suppose no one sees a + in the Wallet app or AP in settings, right?

Apple Pay never launched outside Tuesday to Thursday in new regions.

It will definitely not be this week. I believe Sunny2k1 let himself get taken away by some vague screenshots and stated it would be rolling out sooner than he thought, because in this quantity those are just glitches.

If it is delayed last minute again (which happened a few times, e.g. Q4 2017) beyond 11.3 in March, I personally(!) think this could be only because of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.

I don’t even think Apple Pay will launch in this year at all. Because nothing has changed from two years ago to now. Whoever believes we will not get AP this year (or "never" :D) is just being ridiculous and making a fool of himself.
This just shows you sadly haven't really noticed or might have been to young to realize (just guessing here because of your irrational 'rants', who can get this worked up because of some flashy payment tech? ;)).

Situation with banks is in 2018 still the same as the years before. Card acceptance is pretty much the same like before. So why should they launch it now.

Apple obviously does not want a niche roll-out as in Switzerland, that's why N26 and some others alone simply don't cut it. A quick look would have shown you how 'well' that has worked out in CH.

There haven’t been any rumors for months besides Sunny’s words. I don’t even think Apple Pay will launch in this year at all.

We should see AP in Q2 the latest with a big roll-out.
This timeframe is shared by several renowned experts (e.g. Dr. Leichsenring, Der-Bank-Blog; ...) and beyond that date there simply is no sensible reason (like big name partners) that would make Apple want to loose more time in the market.

Sparkasse still hasn't announced that the payment options from July this year will be just for Android. They could have done that, so it would make sense to launch both at the same time.

No one can announce a roll out besides Apple due to NDAs, that's why no institution will run Ads before it's here.

Well, that's completely obvious... thanks for that. I think you misread what I wrote.

They COULD have stated that the Sparkasse Wallet (or whatever the damn thing will be called) will be released for just Android! Yet they haven't! Even in interviews they keep saying that the "digitale Girocard" is on it's way to everyones Smartphones this summer. I also don't see the Sparkasse leaving out all those customers that are also Apple users. There would be a serious backlash.
