Used it on the bus/train and at eat today. Can't use my watch yet as I'm on beta 3 but using the phone vs contactless card, the phone seems quicker, I think its due to the range being better on the phone.

On the bus/train I just double clicked the home button, left my thumb on the touch ID, the screen shows "Ready to pay" and when I got to the barrier I just tapped the top close to the reader, little vibrate and green light (On the reader) and the barrier opened. No delay vs contactless.

FYI you don't have to keep your thumb on once "Ready to pay" shows.

That's good workflow, many people complain about Apple Pay will slow you down and the line of people on Tube and busses. You sound like it takes same amount of time - you just need to prepare.

Four questions for people who have used ApplePay successfully in the UK with a UK credit card...

2) I use Natwest but got a notification for my payment instantly.

2) Used the train this morning and tube just now, works just as well, quicker than a contactless card, haven't used a Osyter since contactless launched but applepay is pretty much instant.

3) I think its 60 seconds.

Sorry Chris I am on iOS9 that's probably why then, you just double click the home button whilst the screen is off and wallet comes up with your card ready, if you leave your thumb on for a split second it automatically reads it and your ready to go.

Cheers, thought you may have been on iOS 9.

I bought a McMuffin today in Dagenham, Essex with my watch. Worked perfectly, I like this a lot.

iPhone 6 Plus 64GB iOS 8.4, 42mm Stainless Steel  Watch OS 1.01 (12S632), NatWest Visa Debit.

How does double clicking the home button work? I thought that was only iOS 9? I have doubled clicked on the lock screen and home screen and Passbook does not show up, I wasn't ready to pay for anything at the time though.

I believe passbook will appear automatically in the lock screen if it detects that you're in an Apple Pay supported location. This works by Location Services, the same way that it displays, say, the Starbucks app icon if you're in a Starbucks.

If Lidl and Co-Op can support it then why can't Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons support it? That's where most people do their shopping.

Works the same as using contactless in the Tube, you don't need to register unless you want to view your transactions. It charges for each journey at the standard Oyster price but caps it at the daily travelcard limit, if you use it over the course of a week it also caps it at the weekly travelcard limit.

After tapping in with my watch and tapping out with my Phone (for the hell of it) I read on TFL that they advise you to use the same device for all transactions to avoid penalties and to ensure you get daily and weekly capping.

As far as I'm aware, morrisons do support it! At least in all the shops I've been to in Manchester. Sainsburys and Asda on the other hand DO have the equipment installed to allow apple pay and contactless payments, but they haven't activated it yet. Very frustrating!

Yes I don't think that was a good idea. My guess is you will be charged the full daily capped rate. Maybe twice.

Sainsbury's are rolling out new POS software updates to enable all forms of contactless. I wouldn't expect it to be enabled until late next year though.

I've used it twice today. Once for a McDoanld's breakfast, and another at my local corner shop.
The cashier at my local corner shop was a little bemused at how I was paying with my phone but never questioned it.

Tried to pay in M&S. Phone said Payment successful or something similar but the card reader didn't acknowledge anything had happened. Transaction shows up in passbook but I had to pay using my debit card in the end.

gotta laugh if the buying experience goes a little like ...

how many times will you need to use apple pay to buy stuff?

Will the UK really **** this up and set a new world standard of incompetentemce by ruining a truly great payment experience?

is this how an apple pay shopping experience will go?

Goods are £200 sir

Please hold Touch ID, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, eh and again sir, again, one more time, no sorry again, yes another...thank you sir here is your shopping have a nice day.

Contactless payments were never intended to accept £200 purchases for good reason. If you lost your card would you be happy for someone to go on an unlimited spending spree with it? I know I wouldn't. The contactless cards were intended as a quick and easy way to make small purchases instead of using cash.

Some info from Natwest for those struggling to register their cards...

Apparently you have to have a contactless debit card in order to use Apple pay (don't know how true this is), these can be requested by phoning them up.

MBNA card signed up this morning no problem. I thought it was going to be part of the second wave of banks to enrol.
