Can't wait. The only thing I have a question about is how well this will integrate with the chip/pin system being pushed for in the us and that is used worldwide..

Would love to replace carrying a wallet with this, one less thing to carry but that probably won't happen for a while if at all. I would just get a card case for my 6+ and keep my ID in it. I know most people would be hesitant because if they lost their phone there goes their ID as well but I've never had that happen, I pocket check like a MF all day, I'm OCD like that I suppose. In theory you could also get locks on your house that can be unlocked with a phone and also do this with your car, making your phone the only thing you actually have to carry, but then I'd probably be worried about having my phone hacked/stolen and being SOL lol.

I'm a bit confused as to how it'll work in the UK.

I have an Amex charge/credit card and a Natwest visa debit. Will I be able to add these to passbook and use it at any of the many NFC Contactless terminals in London that are valid for purchases under £20?

I want to do this very soon..

here in canada literally every single store has NFC payments but banks will not let apple get a slice of their pie for no reason, and im wondering if apple will pony up to use canadas bank infrastructure

I always assumed debit cards would be definetly a part of this as long as it had a VISA or MC logo...

Hope I didn't assume wrong..

You assumed wrong. The bank that issued the card also has to support Apple Pay, and so far few do. I'm sure this will change as it gets popular and Apple makes deals with more banks.

I still have questions about how widespread Apple Pay will be. I intend on using it, but if it's not accepted in many places, I'll probably get out of the habit. I used Google Wallet all the time.

Glad I have Wells Fargo. When I was over there over the weekend they had a sign saying they support it.

Thanks for info though. Didn't realize only certain banks would work with debit card

I've started sending emails to corporate offices of anywhere I spend money regularly to recommend they support Apple Pay. Might not make a difference but I'm hoping others are doing the same so they might think about it...

I'm going to use it as much as I can. I'm very security conscious and I like all the safeguards Apple has in place to keep your payment information from being stolen. I already carry a small front pocket wallet with limited slots for cards, so I could see just carrying my ID and one or two backup cards for the few places Apple Pay isn't supported.

I'm gonna use it. Victim of identity theft twice. Once with gas station skimmer and once because a low-life stole my personal info from my doctor's office.

I know I'm excited to use this feature. I have seen a few of my friends get stung by credit card theft. So I can not wait to use it.

Well the only place I shop that takes it is Target so I guess just there. But I don't go to Starbucks often and don't go to any of the other places they listed. Maybe when it's more widely adopted I may.

I just got this back from my Credit Union:

Thank you for your message. The announcement of the Apple Wallet along with Apple Pay was made public on September 9th and since then we have been working diligently to learn all the details. We are currently reviewing the Apple Pay platform and what will be required by the Credit Union and our members to participate with this service. As it is very new technology, we have concerns with the security of the platform ? how do we ensure that Apple is truly securing your card data within their device. The launch of the iPhone6 and 6Plus devices along with iOS8 has not been smooth. Apple is still working to stabilize the platform. Additionally we know that Apple will charge fees to the card issuing financial institution for participation along with additional fees from Visa. We want to make sure we totally understand the financial ramifications of these fees and how we can protect the membership in a long term contract relationship.
Apple is scheduled to make the Apple Wallet available through an iOS update sometime mid - October but there will be limited locations that will accept Apple Pay as a payment option. Your credit union debit and credit cards will still work at these merchants ? you will not be prevented from accessing your accounts with SECU although you will not be able to pay with Apple Pay. We will continue our discussions with Apple and Visa until we believe our members best interest are protected. It is our goal to ensure you have access to your accounts and the ability to make payments through whatever channel you choose ? but we must ensure it is done securely! Stay tuned!

Sorry it is long

I find it funny that your credit union is scared about the security of Apple Pay when the credit and debit cards they issue are far more likely to get skimmed.

I switched banks to one that (will be) supporting Apple Pay. I want it for the security much more so than the shopping convenience. Once it is more ubiquitous, I will make the wife upgrade to a 6 as well and use it.

I work in information security. The retail breaches you are reading about are the tip of the iceberg, and Apple Pay is likely the best chance we have of staying out of the criminal dragnet.

Doesn't much matter. Chip and pin addresses theft of your physical card, and, sadly, is flawed as well. Someone stealing your card can use it by tricking the terminal into believing that you are signing instead of using the pin. Google it.

That being said, chip and pin is a completely different process/technology than NFC, you would have to support both in the hardware at the store. However, since stores will have to replace non chip and pin terminals in 2015 anyway to meet a mandate to support it in the US, they can decide to get terminals that support NFC as well. It's great timing on Apple's part to introduce Apple Pay now.

I will always carry a wallet, drivers license, vet ID etc. I would also not want all my payment systems on my phone. Maybe just one credit card. Also swiping a credit card is the easiest thing in the world so for me it's not solving a problem.

I think Apple Pay is awesome, and I definitely intend to use it. The more & more stores adopt it, the sooner I can do away with my wallet & credit cards someday. Seriously. Apple Pay is more secure & convenient. I love the idea.
