Drats, I wanted to go buy a candy bar with it at walgreens, Chase Ink Bold is a NO GO.. So, I guess it's only chase freedom… wahhhh.. no candy for me!

I can finally buy a dollar mcflurry with my $649 phone.

It's a dream come true.

McFlurry $1, where ??? :p

That iPhone 6 looks bigger than that guy.

Are you high ?

I don't even care about ApplePay process in this video, but the guy did not say thank you or please even once during the whole video. Where are people's manners? I don't know, maybe it's normal in US, but it struck me as subtle douchebaggy.

In the Youtube comments, he said that BEFORE the video, he had a talk with the lady first explaining the concept of the video and her authorization to appear on Youtube.

What if you have multiple credit cards? You can't just tap your wallet. And no, most cards do not have tap-to-pay or "Pay Pass" as they call it here.

You can just tap your wallet. If there is more than one that is NFC enabled, you won't know which card will be used, but you can be sure it's only one.

Just used Apple pay at Walgreens and it worked - but needed to enter my pin using my capital one debit card? I thought no pin was needed! Lame!

"getting my wallet out"
You still have to get your iPhone out.

"finding the card"
LOL...Why does everyone suddenly need to "find" their card in their wallet? If you want to select your card then to compare, you need to: unlock your iPhone, launch the app, select your card (iPhone loses)

"pulling card out"
You have to put your finger on the fingerprint sensor.

"signing"
You don't need to sign unless you're spending $100+. That's a lot of Big Macs. Let's be real here—this step was here just to make credit card transactions look worse. This isn't even a step in the process.

"putting card back in wallet, wallet back in backpack or pocket."
You still need to put your iPhone back.

At best, it's a wash. If you want to pick your card, it's more complicated when you use an iPhone.

I think this varies between people. I know for ME it is faster and, MORE IMPORTANTLY TO ME, less of a hassle. I do have to "find" and sometimes dig out my credit cards because I have so many and dig out because one of the pockets in my wallet has a tight fit. Also, the drug store I patronize requires signing for anything over $25. Lowe's and Home Depot require signature randomly as a security measure. Just to name a few. Also, I carry my phone in my hand. Again, a personal thing.

It's a little like the typing in 4 digits to unlock your phone versus fingerprint. Some love to type in the digits. And even I will admit it sounds a little weird, but it's annoying to type those digits so many times a day. Bad enough that I have to type in my password at work dozens of times because we should lock our screens every time we get up or if it times out because we're working on another system

Peace.

Still Playing Catchup

Apple is still playing catch up, paying Jony Ive for taking previous versions of devices and stretching and thinning and squeezing them thinner is what it comes down too.

He sit's there over Tea and says Let's try this, oooooooo that looks great send it too engineering

NFC technology been around for how long 4 5 years and Apples just getting on the bandwagon now? Oh they fine tuned it :roll eyes:

Come on Apple do something different, try being original instead of copying other companies.

And yes I own a iPhone 5, iPad Mini Retina w/cellular , MBA Maxed. Love them all but this iPhone iPad Same old stuff to me is Apple NOT being innovative

Lame Apple , really Lame

That statement seems a little arrogant if you ask me.

Dear Rest of The World,

You are welcome. The first rate infrastructure you now enjoy, you are enjoying because it is NEW. It is new because every home in the US back in the 1950s and 60s had a telephone when you were using tin cans and string to communicate.

You cellular network is NEW because we installed and developed cell towers in the 1980s when it was only a dream to the rest of the world. I can remember calling a friend in the UK from my car in the middle of Nebraska back in the late 80s and being called a poser for having a cell phone.

Our infrastructure is 50 - 60 years old and made of mostly copper. Yours is 10 - 20 years old and fiber. Your country is probably the size of one of our states and therefore slightly easier to re-wire.

For Example: The entire country of Australia is 21m. The population of California alone is 38m.

Please don't compare your countries ability to replace a few thousand terminals with our inability to replace a few hundred million.

You benefited from technology becoming a commodity. You benefitted from our having done it first. Appreciate that fact if nothing else.

Thank you - Have a nice day.

Not quite true, some of that. Perhaps your education system is a little too pro-American. Yes, people used to call anyone with a cell phone a poser in the late 80's, that's because they were. But at least with a cell phone in the UK you could call anywhere from anywhere, there weren't different competing companies in each city or state that wouldn't let you call somewhere else. Telephones in the 50s and 60s were similar in many countries, with the introduction of direct dialling and international direct dialling at similar times.

Also, don't forget that Australia (which you picked) is about the same size as the continental US, and yet the technology has to be provided with a customer base of only a fraction of California's population. That doesn't make life any easier.

Still not entirely sure what "our having done it first" is about. Do you mean replacing food with McDonald's? Yes, you did. Thanks for that...

Yes, because that won't ever happen in real life in the first day or two that people try to use it.

If you want a highly produced example of how this works in fairy tale land I'm sure you can find something on Apple's website.

Look for the September Event video... Tim says its so cool...

Wow, another blatant rip from Apple. This like 4 years old. Google Wallet anyone? LOL

Let me guess, Apple gonna sue google wallet now?

First Apple copies android drop down menu? - Check
Menu shortcuts - Check
Samsung Fitness app - Check
Google Wallet - Check

Now, the next thing I'm waiting for is an Apple Fridge and Laundry Machines to replace my Samsung units. LMFAO

This payment system is a gimmick for now. Some may use it because it's new but it'll get played out sooner or later.

NFC is EVERYWHERE in London! Have been using the Barclays Payband for months now...

You know that's only up to £20 right.... and completely unsecured. Someone could swipe you in the street.

It is handy for the tube...and the odd packed of crisps

But Apple pay is technically unlimited funds - secured by fingerprint and some nifty token backend stuff going on.

On a lighter note - By mistake I got the 'Pride' Payband. Oh well!

I think the Chase Ink thing is a corporate card, correct? I have read that corporate cards are not included in Apple Pay yet. I guess we will see. Interested to see if a bunch of the people with corporate Amex's at work are able to do Apple Pay. I did read that they are eventually planning to let store cards use it (like a department store card without a Visa/MC logo). So I bet it will just take some time.

Both me and a co-worker tried out Apple Pay at McDonalds a few ours ago. It just worked like a charm. it was dirt easy. Cash would definitely not be faster. Card would not be faster.

In America do you guys not have NFC for credit cards? We've had that in New Zealand for about a year and is definitely faster than using the phone.

Oh dear another one...

You mean the Samsung Washing machines they stole the designs from Bosch or the American 2 door Fridges they sell?

You mean the 'three bar' icon and drop down that I used in web sites 12 years ago?

Menu shortcuts from my nokia in 1998

Samsung announced their fitness app AFTER HealthKit was announced as a Developer tool.

Google wallet and apple pay are not the same thing. For one thing google Actively view your purchases. Apple pay does not.

Such is the difference between Google and Apple. Apple are selling you a device and service. Google are selling you an advertising platform, collecting your information and then either using that to sell to clients or sell you more products.

EDIT:
** Just had a look at your other posts. I am so sorry, I didn't realise I was dealing with someone of limited mentality **

They made such a big deal about McDonalds rolling out support for this that I did something uncharacteristic - I went to McDonalds for lunch.

Well, the one I went to had no NFC terminals.

So... FAIL.

Didn't work at my McDonalds. Says put near reader and never processed.

What a fantastic rollout!
