Why are all these concepts show asymmetrical design where top bazel is narrower than bottom bazel?

Looking at length of S8 or LG G6, i feel Apple cannot push 5.8 inch display in the phone with external dimensions of 4.7 inch iphone.

Also i saw black bars on the side for both S8 and G6 while watching videos due to almost 2:1 aspect ratio and watching content created for 16:9 aspect ratio.

"rumors suggesting the OLED iPhone will be in short supply when it launches in September" shocking. just shocking. I mean new iPhones are always so plentiful in the fall when they launch. This is just shocking news that there will be limited supplies this time. It's a first ever event. I call BS on this rumor!

The long wait time for availability of the 7 caused me to just not buy one. I figured 'hey, I've waited this long, may as well just wait until next year." It's the first model of iPhone I passed on. I did the same with AirPods, I was looking forward to a pair, but opted for a different brand of wireless as the wait times are just too long.

For the first time ever I actually had an iPhone on launch day and didn't think the 7 was materially better than the 6s so I returned it. But the 8 may be worth the wait. However, I'm leaning towards just getting the GS8 now since I know it'll probably be next Jan or February before you can easily get one and don't even get me started on the stupid Air Pods and the fact that you STILL can't get the damn things.

Thanks Samsung for developing, manufacturing and beta testing our OLED panels. We will still say Apples implementation is way better though.

Just wait til Apple claims it invented and engineered Samsung's AMOLED display and starts suing everyone for copying their look and feel. I'm more curious as to how Apple would market this, AppLED (tm)? Designed Engineered by Samsung and Marketed by Apple in California?

"Samsung, as we already know, will be Apple's sole OLED supplier, and will provide Apple with the panels."
really didn't know MR has access to the sales contract or are they guessing like everyone else

Who needs it? Samsung is pretty much the only one in the AMOLED business.

Almost every concept I've seen looks awful. Hope the real thing is like none of these.

Apple are assembling the biggest iPhone EVER... it's going to be about 160' x 90' in dimension, and will be one of a kind, laid flat on the ground pointing aircraft towards their Apple Campus 2... so that is what all the screens are for!

It's 2017 Apple. Get rid of the *(&%%& bezel already!!!!
"Apple, Apple, follow the trends because everyone else is doing it Apple! Never mind your design language, common sense or following your own path, DO IT - we the public, swayed by a change in the wind, know better than you!"

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

People have some REALLY serious "First world problem" obsessions - sheesh - get a grip (because that's why a bezel is there... duh!)

the fanboy apologists are always stuck in the past. That bezel isn't going to be around forever.

Apple designs the parts, other companies just manufacture the parts.
Apple's design/implementation of the screen is not and will not be found in any of Samsung's phones.

So yes, Apple's implementation will be way better. ;)

I'd say it's likely Apple can sell every iPhone 8 it makes and possibly beyond that 70 million unit number. I really am curious as to how many Galaxy S8 units Samsung can sell because they have so many other smartphone models for sale and then there's going to be the refurbished Note 7 and the new Galaxy Note 8. All those offerings would seem to weaken the demand for the latest S8. Besides, the S8 is a fairly expensive flagship and Samsung's customer base for models that expensive could be small. I wonder if Samsung is counting on S7 users upgrading. That's a tough call. I'm not wishing any bad luck on Samsung. I'd prefer if Apple made the iPhone (X) good enough for many users of older iPhones to have a desire to upgrade.
Either way Samsung will profit..They will thank Apple for buying 70 million displays so the S8 doesn't have to do too well although demand for the S8 is very high as of now...Even iPhone users are preparing to switch......

Literally the S8 makes any iPhone seem bland...A phone with VR support, pc desktop ability, and much more....It's just laughable now...Can't wait for my S8 Plus to arrive....

Really? Those ugly rounded corners and a fingerprint sensor on the back? I'd hope Apple could do better.
The jealousy exists I see..The iPhone has been the ugliest phone for 3 years in a row...This year included ....While Samsung has been the most beautiful consistently in the past 3 years....

Your BS is spouted every single year... riiiiiight up until September, when Apple FLATTENS Samsung with common sense, subtlety, class and dignity, and the introduction of VALUABLE features, all in a calm subtle and witty manner. Nice way to justify your S8 purchase, by attempting - poorly - to imply that because you think the S8 is amazing, that iPhone MUST be rubbish, and will need to "catch up" to Samsung's hilarious "feature" freak show.

Poor Samsung, the fact that they unashamedly demonstrate their sheer cluelessness and desperation, year after year, is nothing less than both baffling AND hilarious, simultaneously.

;)

Ironic..You will buy the most boring phone of this year..The iPhone 8.....It's laughable...There is nothing remotely interesting about a iPhone.....Apple has done nothing with the iPhone for years.....

Yep.

The problem with Samsung (and many other Android phones) is that their "features" are short-sighted, their designs are "of the time" - IE, they look "fashionable" in the MOMENT, but will age VERY fast... that's if the "chrome" doesn't wear off and leave the HIDEOUS white plastic underneath BEFORE these design trends fade... they age SO disgracefully, what a load of cack.

What do you want it to do - stand on one leg and juggle flaming torches? It's a phone, not a clown at a child's Birthday party - if you want to be amused or interested, go to the theatre and the museum.

If I was to follow your philosophy..There will be no reason upgrading and yes I want my phone to do everything currently possible.....

I find it funny that Apple do a better job than Samsung than Samsun themselves do with their own parts.
Neither funny or true!

It might well be that Samsung look "Fashionable" and then age very fast (Don't agree personally, still think my edge 6 is still one of the better looking phones); Apple overcome this problem by launching already aged products each year, or in the case of Macs, basically launch nothing.
