And yet they cannot make a 17" rMBP.

The iPad pro is a fine concept, that is severely overpriced for what it is.....an iPad Air 3
[doublepost=1471241332][/doublepost]

we need at least 6 sizes...... and more variations of gold...
Of course it is dear, now take a panadol and lie down.

The future of the iPad lies with the iPad Pro. Non-pro iPads (and tablets in general) are getting cannibalized by large-screen smartphones.
[doublepost=1471256425][/doublepost]What you don't think they won't have a iPhone Pro out soon? Mark my words, you will see it soon!

@Apple Developers: Please make your apps PRO! I don´t need a PRO iPad w/o PRO Apps. Make Photos PRO! Make iMovie PRO! make iCloud PRO! XCode for iPad PRO. Thank you.

Disagree. For most people, the iPad is nothing more than a device for media consumption. A little Netflix, browsing and gaming, that's it. I am fine with that, I don't need an iPad to be more than that. So there's absolutely no need to pay the ridiculous premium for the Pro moniker.
Really hoped for an updated iPad Air in October. Seems like I will be waiting for another year...

And no, there's no way I would ever even consider watching a series or a movie on a 5,5" iPhone screen while being at home or somewhere, where I could use a 10" iPad. I see that the iPad mini is getting cannibalized by the iPhone Plus in some way, but surely not the bigger ones.

It's the OS that would make this product revolutionary not adding or cutting a few inches from the screen size. That's called making the SAME thing bigger or smaller.

The iPad Pro needs a PRO operating system. iOS is too restrictive. We need iOS PRO.
Yes it does, but I still would like the black bars around the sides to get smaller or removed.

If the timing is true, which is all I am going to hope for from this analysis, I will be happy. A new 12.9 at f2018 is exactly what I would expect and when I would want to spend the money to get a newer, updated pro after 3 iOS update cycles.

So they'll phase out the 7.9" model because the 5.5" model is "close enough," but they'll add a 10.5" model because both 9.7" and 12.9" models aren't enough? Umm...what?

....and just what makes you confident the late 2017 + iPhones will stop at 5.5" ? ;)

I think a 10.5" Pro will sell in volume. A "Budget" 9.7" will also sell well IMO. I for one would most definitely go with a 10.5" over 9.7" or 12.9". The numbers show the Pro Models as selling very well.

If they shaved $150 off the 9.7" IMO it would move. :apple:

I think it is great news. I love my 9.7 pro, but I really think it could be a tad bigger. If they will pull it off by making the product slimmer and basically the same weight, you can be more productive on the smaller pro. Also, you could make a full sized keyboard too.

Apple, we want revolutionary MacBook Pros! I think even the rumoured OLED bar is an afterthought of innovation when compared to the amount of effort they're pouring into the iPad range. Unless the lines truly merge, and I can do true multitasking (and heck, boot into Windows from time to time), then we're just not interested in a second tier MacBook line.

So no mini? Why? 9.7 10.5 and 12.9 is silly. Especially if this 9.7 has a a9x. Why not do this:

9.7 ( ipad air 3) - a10x

the pros everything that air 3 has but smart keyboard pencil speakers and a pro OS

Although the lineup would be nicer if

7.9 mini a10

9.7 air 3 a10

Pros - smart keyboard pencil and speakers with a pro OS

The 6s plus can do those things well enough. And there's not much difference in screen size when your watching a video due to most videos being 16:9. And it's more convenient to carry around.

Having said that, the mini is a better browser and ebooks reader due to the aspect ratio.

A rough calculation tells me the screen area ratio is more than 2x between an iPad mini and a 6s. This sounds quite huge to me. I could do pretty much all I do on my Air on an iPad mini (reading, web browsing, email, notes, etc), but very few of these things on a large smartphone.

I would be more happy to buy it without the flexible AMOLED display and with current iPad Pro specs. The only thing they need to do it is they should just sell it by calling it "iPad Pro Pro" Then the $200 extra over previous model will be justified. If they want to charge $300 extra, then they better name it "iPad Pro Pro Pro" otherwise I will not buy it.

Now true innovation would be iPad bands if I can get one, I will fasten an iPad Pro to my arm. It would look spectacular while jogging. Maybe if I attach iPad Pros on both bands, I could fly. The bands can come in different colors, feather material.

Before people go off on one saying how many different sized devices Apple now/will offer I'm just going to leave this image here...

(That's EVERY device that runs Android.)

How is this even comparable? You are compare ONE manufcture to multiple manufactures.

This is not even comparable. You should really see how Aplle compare with one OEMs. Just like you guys always compares Apple vs random one Android maker in terms of sales and market share.

What's with all the childish comments these days, anyone with an ounce of common sense would know the 10.5 inch iPad would be replacing the 9.7 inch one. Probably in the same form factor with edge to edge OLED display. And all the sarcastic comments with no substance always gets up voted ruining such a great news site that I visit every day.
