Guys,

accept it. Eventually the iPad will replace the macbook.
That has started with the iPad Pro. I predict 2018 there might only be 1 macbook. No air, not a normal one 1 but just 1 MBP. And then 4 ipad models and 2 of them will have full MacOS on them.
That's why they have also changed the name. OSX sounds to "heavy" to run on an iPad. MacOS is much better for this.
You heard it here first..;-)

The problem with the argument of a macOs iPad is that the architecture is different. So the apps you currently have on macOS wont run on the iPad because the iPad uses the arm infrastructure.

Yes you could introduce a compatibility layer between the hardware and the macOS software but you than run into performance issues and that would also affect battery life.

Think of a "pro" version of IOS. MacOS as we know it now will be gone by then. Perhaps the MacBook by then will have an Arm processor..And voila problem solved

No matter what Apple and/or tim cook says or does at this point, it won't make people on this forum applaud apple.
Even when its news about newer and re-designed stuff, people will bad mouth it.

Apple has lost macrumors no matter what, it seems ;)

New iPad versions with better design, which people long wanted = they will discontinue MacBooks, iPad upgrades are bad

New MacBook versions = Too expensive, PC has better performance, etc.. f*ck apple, they should have done it long ago

New Apple TV = Not innovating, f*ck apple

New Phone = Looks the same, so it must be a bad phone - downgrade from 6s, f*ck apple.

And so on..

When an redesigned iPhone will arrive in 2017, i bet everyone will hate on it..and most likely predict apple will discontinue the Mac in favor of iPhone 8, because it will be getting the spotlight :p

Calm down :)

That would solve things in the long run. But would you really buy a MacBook that can't run photoshop, final cut or Adobe software in the short term? There also an additional problem, that is you would no longer be able to run Windows on a MacBook without a vm.

Having said that, I do believe Apple will transition to ARM as they have more control over the design. In the mean time, it'll be interesting to see how Apple is going to make that transition.

iPad Pro 10.5 will replace the 9.7 pro.
It will have trimmed bezels to keep the physical size in check. Same will happen for the new 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2.
They will release an updated 9.7 inch regular/" budget" iPad , called the iPad SE.
iPad mini will be dropped in 2017 because of the release of an even bigger 5.8 inch(or even bigger) iPhone pro in 2017 with new design and oled , with almost no bezels.

Anyway, that is my guess...
We have a winner.

This new 10.5'' iPad Pro will be the same physical size as todays 9.7'' iPad Pro. It's just the same what will happen with the new iPhone in 2017 because of the reduced bezels and/or curved display. The actual form factor stays the same.
So this rumor makes total sense - iPad will get 2017 iPhone features in 2018. Don't know why people say that's not plausible..

DCIFRTHS states that he will be using a Windows computer if Tim Cook phases out desktop / laptop computers.

The good news is you don't have to purchase Apple Products to be affected. Although, I'm impartial to Apple Products.

Yep, some guy said it, so it's definitely true.
Especially when it's clearly stated in the article that this is a third party prediction. It isn't a leak.

And next year Samsung will release a high end OLED tablet just to say they did it first.
They already have an OLED tablet/hybrid.

And yet they cannot make a 17" rMBP.

The iPad pro is a fine concept, that is severely overpriced for what it is.....an iPad Air 3
[doublepost=1471241332][/doublepost]

we need at least 6 sizes...... and more variations of gold...

The market for a 17" rMBP must be tiny though.

The market for the old 17" PB had gotten very small, and in the time since then, the 15" models with higher resolutions offer more screen real estate than the old 17" models.

I can't speak for everyone, but I would think that a fair number of people who may have wanted a 17" would prefer the 15" now, making that already small market even smaller.

A "revolutionary" device, in parts due to an AMOLED-display? o_O

Samsung has been putting organic screens into their Galaxy S-smartphones for more than 6 years now. Worked brilliant, especially in regards to battery usage. Not so nice in terms of color accuracy - but we're talking about a tiny smartphone screen here, not a calibrated sRGB/Adobe RGB display for professional photo editing...

TL;DR: The pro's of having a OLED display on a portable device outweight the con's.

one of the main issues of color accuracy (and effective resolution) is Samsung being cheap and using pentile on many of their displays.

I would definitely get a 10.5" iPad Pro. 12" is too big and 9.7" is a good size but makes for a small keyboard.
