I wonder if it's the beginning of the end for the Mac lines. They've put it out there plenty of times before saying how much more versatile the iPad Pro is. And u know Apple they always have a specific plan for the future and like to be the first to omit certain things and change the market.

This is a good improvement if true but I would also like some more colours like they do with the Ipod line.

Also, are iPads even in demand anymore? I haven't touched the one I bought in 2010 in a good 3 years because it's just not that useful when you have an iPhone and a Mac.

I can't go into a Starbucks, Panera Bread or a Barnes & Noble without seeing at least a couple. Just because you don't use yours doesn't mean that other folks don't find usefulness in the form factor. The market has matured, Apple is not refreshing the line as often as the early years and people are not replacing them. I still have my Apple Air and it works great!! I use mine all the time, whether it's reading an e-book, casually browsing the net or some late night viewing before I sleep.
Phones are fine when you're on the go but even at 5.2 to 5.5" I'm not doing anything serious on the phone.
If Apple ever develops a version of Logic for the iPad Pro I may say goodbye to my laptop and desktop machines all together.

Smartphones with 5-6” screen size will never replace the iPad Mini, they are too small for real work or for long reads. They are nice 'all in one device' at most if you don't mind to carry giant phone in your pocket daily.

The Mini is the perfect portable sized tablet for reading (it's the perfect eBook size), web surfing and quick writing, anything bigger become to bulky to carry around all the time, and i already prefer to grab my powerful MBP if i need something bigger.

The iPad Mini 4 has the perfect balance between power and portability for a tablet - it will be a shame if the it will disappear.

What does Kuo mean by "radical changes in form factor design & user behavior"? It's already a flat rectangle with a display and guts behind it. Making it thinner or changing bezel sizes aren't radical... Only thing I can think of that would fit that descriptor would be a flexible display. Any other thoughts?

I agree with those that feel iOS's limited capabilities and the developer community that has mostly failed to produce convincing software are the iPad's biggest problems.

Why not just make 1 stretchy iPad size made of some rare earth element and call it a day.

I use mine every day. Yes, I can use my iPhone or MacBook Pro, but in bed, on the trainer, in the car (not driving), in the hotel, on the plane, iPads rock. I can see the screen better, etc.

It depends on what you do (or don't) with them. I have a 3rd gen that sits on a shelf, yet my 4th, and Air get used constantly. To each their own... Maybe you need a new model. I LOVE the stuffing out of my Air. Fast, clear, light, nice...

Remember what Steve did when he came back to Apple? He drastically cut back the product range as it was full of chaff. Here we are 5 years later and look, it's full of chaff again. Apple has become Sansumg, although even Samsung wouldn't do something as idiotic as removing the headphone jack.

I just want a bezel-free sandproof 5" iPhone 8 that unfolds into an iPad Mini Pro 2 and Apple Magic Pencil and charges using WiFi or 5G so it doesn't need a battery or Lightning port. Also remove the mute switch and give it a Digital Crown instead.

/s

I want an iPad with no buttons at all and the screen is shaped like a giant donut. It should also be thin enough to slice straight through an unprotected hand. I also want it available in size increments of 1mm all the way up to 1m. Oh and I want it in baby pink.

As I've gotten older, I realize that the iPhone 6+ isn't doing it for reading and some games, but seeing iPads 'in the wild' is so easy to do. The last trip I took had a row of kids all transfixed on their iPads, being quiet and good (what that means for the future of humanity I can't tell).

I see iPads all over the place. I occasionally see a Amazon Fire, and did see a comical large droid tablet. I have only seen one Surface 'in the wild' complete with keyboard and mouse :D:eek: the user looked uncomfortable. But anyway...

That's what's called a toxic relationship. You can get therapy for that or try the self-help books first ;)

Are there any e-books? o_O:D

What's with all the childish comments these days, anyone with an ounce of common sense would know the 10.5 inch iPad would be replacing the 9.7 inch one. Probably in the same form factor with edge to edge OLED display. And all the sarcastic comments with no substance always gets up voted ruining such a great news site that I visit every day.

Doesn't even need to go edge to edge. I superimposed a 10.5 inch screen on the current iPad and I think it is doable if the camera module is modified and pushed upwards. Still leaves a 5mm bezel on the sides and abut 7.5 on top with a slightly smaller bezel at the bottom accommodating the home button without major modification.

I don't know what they would gain with a 10.5 inch iPad. I do agree that they need to take a hard look at the mini and see if it is still a viable product for them in their lineup.

Kuo makes no mention about the fate of the current 7.9-inch iPad mini, although many have assumed that model may be phased out as the recent 5.5-inch iPhone "Plus" models have helped lessen demand for Apple's smallest tablet.
I really hope this isn't true; the 7.9" iPad Mini is my favorite sized iPad. For me it’s the perfect size for screen real estate, weight and ease of carrying around. I understand the Mini probably hasn't sold very well for Apple compared to the larger sizes, but I just like this size the best.

Personally, I doubt the mini would be the casualty if a 10.5" iPad is released. I think the 9.7" iPad would be the sacrificed. The 10.5" iPad would be a 9.7" iPad with much less bezel. The mini just fits so well in the lineup. One of those middle iPads would be on the chopping block, and since the 10.5 is the rumored new intro...

That would be nice for sure, but sadly, I'm not seeing any rumors pointing to a new iPad Mini so far. :(

And if Apple really does go to an integrated TouchID then the entire device could be much smaller, even with a larger screen.
