The iPod Nano and iPod Touch were updated this year. Maybe this is the year that Apple visited the island of misfit toys. :D

The Nano received no substantive changes unless you consider a color update substantive. Not even the bluetooth version was updated to the current specs. I've been waiting for a refresh to purchase one for running with bluetooth earbuds but this is not the Nano I am looking for...

"On July 15, 2015, Apple introduced a new color lineup for its entire family of iPods, including the iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle. The new color options include space gray, gold, silver, pink, blue, and red.

No other changes were made to the iPod nano, which continues to offer 16 GB of storage and sell for $149."

Your silly argument aside, 4K TVs carry very small premium over 1080p TVs. Walk into Costco and you will see 43" 4K TVs under $600. Put another way, 4K TVs carry about $200-300 premium over similar 1080p model. While $200-300 may not be a chump change, it is not a huge sum for a product that has very long expected lifespan.

It's amazing how quickly prices come down on TVs. The 46" flatscreen tv I have now I bought back in 2008 for $1,675. It won't be long before I can buy a 110" screen for that and not need my projection screen anymore...

Agreed, but don't like the idea of it being touch-based. I don't want to have to look at it.
We probably won't have to look. The touch area is probably like the Remote app handles the current Apple TV. Just swipe up, down, left, right, and tap. No need to look because no specific control areas are on the touch surface. I just hope the remote will have a microphone so I can pick it up and say "Hey Siri, play The Daily Show!"

Oh man, this would be great. I love my Xbox One, but an Apple TV gaming system... I'd never leave the couch. Wait. Not much would be different.

Wishlist: Two models: Apple TV Pro- $350. Competes with Xbox and PS4, has high end chip and comes with a controller. Standard Apple TV- $69. Has latest A-chip and competes with Roku, etc. It also streams games from ATVP to any TV on network (similar to the upcoming Steambox). Boom.

Interesting!! Apple TV Pro to differentiate and add gaming capabilities... Good idea! Shame you don't work for Apple as I think they are low on good ideas lately. I really hope the new Apple TV is something good, I really don't want another "Can't Innovate my ass.. Apple TV 3 now in GOLD!"

I smell the Apple Watch strategy here (only for streaming tv). Lot's of hints about a product being developed (but it gets delayed and delayed and some even wonder if it's ever going to be real), get the rest of the industry to panic and start working on there own products (to quickly introduce with all their warts), then introduce your "killer" product after you see how it all shakes out with your competitors.

I know these things exist. I have my eye on a Tablo system. Just don't want to have to buy/manage multiple devices when one could easily do it all. The TV is supposed to be the hub of my house. Do it!! Tired of farting around, running out of sources on my remote and hdmi inputs on my Onkyo receiver.
Fair enough. But if you're still waiting for Apple to do it, you have more patience than I do. :)

I wish they would make a stackable functionality so we can customize what we want. It's a small form factor so there's room for expansion space-wise. They could click onto each other to share an HDMI port

I get where you're coming from. But it's entirely possible to use the Remote App today without looking at your phone. It's swipe and taps and long presses to do most of what you need. Hopefully they keep IR so we can use our universal remotes in any case.

$40/mo for 25 channels? LOL I'll pass. $19.99/mo for 25 channels, then *maybe* depending on channels.

I agree, way to expensive. Besides it would most probably concern American TV channels which doesn't interest me a bit. It simply lacks the quality I'm used to get on national Dutch television or the BBC.

Hulu however would be something that I could become interested in since they're broadcasting lots of high quality movies from Criterion Collection. It would be great if one could "hire" specific channels for specific prices instead of a bundle with lots of BS channels and with just one or two intresting channels.

Won't happen I think

I'm interested in the new Apple TV that could replace my older version when it would have options like attach external drives or the possibility to record what you're looking at and send that to your local mac to give an example

"Touch based remote" eh?

Sounds like the new AppleTV is going to require an iPhone or iPad to use it. What's good for the iWatch must be good for the iTV.

If this is true, Apple are just clutching at straws. It's a huge company that's underpinned by one product, and they have no idea how to build on this.

Ready for the remote! The current one gets lost too much.

Agreed. Apparently, Apple engineers agree as well which is why they created a remote app for the Apple Watch. It's actually very convenient... I never have to dig around for my remote or iPhone... it's always on me. :)

This long overdue, but kind of pointless without their new streaming service, don't you guys think?
