and they should make sure the production company doesn't bother filming in 4K - because why bother.

They shouldn't bother filming in 4k.

They should film in 8k or higher so that shots can be cropped with no discernible loss of quality to the end product.

Let's just wait for Apple to start selling sugar water, they could even get one of the previous CEO back for this imagine potential commercial where camera pans from airpods, on invisible cable onto a hand with watch holdong can of augar water sipped in a rythm of apple music watchig apple show...

And here is an Aboveavalon article back in October explaining how Apple's strategy might play out. Quite the good read. If you wish to comment further, I recommend that everyone at least give this article a chance. It's really very informative and puts the whole Beats acquisition in the proper context.

This is not a scenario unique to Apple. We've already seen this exact "trojan horse" used by Google with Play Music and Youtube Red. Not commenting on the success of Google's play <-- pun intended, but the strategy is exactly what's described in that article.

Yeah I've never understood that sentiment... As if the hardware engineers could switch over and start mastering video.

Ha! Yes, like "Timmy" had to choose between a headphone jack and a TV show.

Oh well. Nowt as queer as folk. It's entertaining at least. I head over to Ars Technica or some such when I want to feel less intelligent.

:)

I'm just not sure they'd produce quality shows - story-wise - like Netflix. Netflix is famous for not interfering and welcoming indie writers/directors and their bold ideas like "Stranger Things". Sure, production by Apple would be top-notch but also probably controlled too much meaning boring.

Netflix doesn't actually create the original content. They, like all other studios buy them from creators. And then finance their development.

Attention Apple shareholders: Now would be a good time to start making some noise for a shakeup at Apple.
But shareholders want Apple to get deeper into services. Most couldn't care less about the Mac Pro or whether Apple offers a MacBook Pro with 32GB RAM.

Sounds like an interesting move. Would it be free? Are they planning to create a media service to cover both Apple Music and videos? I wouldn't buy into a new service just for 1 or 2 exclusive shows, that's the fault of Amazon and Top Gear 2 or whatever it's called - folk will just torrent. I'm sure Apple know that.

Apple certainly has enough money to do this, Netflix original shows are great and I'm sure if Apple went down the same route, it could be great, they also have their own hardware to display it on, whether that be the Apple TV, Mac's, iPads or even iPhones.

Invoking Westworld and Stranger Things for a comparison is extremely optimistic. These shows are exceptionally crafted and were possible because of Netflix and HBO having gained significant experience and lots of learning along the way. This is the equivalent of saying their first car will be on par with the quality of a 911 GT3RS or their watches will be comparable to a Patek Phillipe. It's a really gutsy comment that makes me think they are underestimating what is required to make something amazing in this area.

I will be impressed if they are anywhere in the ballpark of those shows.

Makes no sense to me. I'd think they would be working towards an :apple: TV service, similar to :apple: Music. Unlimited shows and movies on iTunes for let's say $40 a month? I'd pay $50, easily. I feel like that would be a better strategy. Then maybe add original content into the :apple: TV service that is exclusive.

This is exactly why I don't use apple services. They're locked to their single platform. Netflix I can view on almost absolutely anything. Same with Amazon Prime and almost all services I use.

Nah, this could just be a very sneaky way of getting rid of Eddy.
You got to get rid of him, Cook and Phil. Those 3 are just obnoxious. They succeeded because of Jobs and vise versa. Now they are cringe worthy of how they're trying to stay "hip" and "cool". Time has come for a change in guard. If Apple won't do it, I'm sure there will eventually be a company that does.

You can use Apple Music on Android phones and with iTunes on Windows pcs as well. It is not locked to iOS/apple plattforms.

Great, so is that like the once service that is cross platform? Besides, Spotify is much much better than Apple Music.

It's what's missing...

One place/home/hub for Netflix, Spotify & Alexa.

Apple is actually so far ahead people can't even begin to understand.

Now that's some funny trolling, Apple TV is so far behind devices like the Roku its laughable. A Roku is 70 dollars cheaper and can do far more than an Apple TV.
