iTunes constantly crashing

I installed iTunes b7 and upgraded my iPhone 4 (had to do twice - first time ended up in that reboot loop that others have talked about). Now, however, whenever I connect either my iPad (still running 3.4) or my iPhone 4 to the computer, iTunes crashes. Anyone else seen this behaviour? (I've tried reinstalling the iTunes beta, as well as rebooting the computer… problem still persists)

I'm using iTunes b7 to sync my 4.3.5 iPhone 4 right now.

Same here and also my iTunes Match is missing though it shows "loading iCloud Library" at the top center status area.

Then it locks up ever time.

Anyone find a "fix" for this?

I should note that I did upgrade iTunes on my Air also (issues are on mini) and it still shows iTunes Match for that one. But I don't use iTunes on my Air.

Erase all music from device and sync them again. Then it will work fine.

You mean, after that "it just works"?

Every day we hear more and more cases where it doesn't "just work"....

Apple never claimed the beta "just works".

Why does over the air updates delete all my photos? - everytime.
Luckily, I've gotten wise to this and pre-back them up manually, but still...all the music, apps etc remain, but my photos always disappear.

Other than that, OTA update when super-smooth for my iPhone 4.

Okay, no less than 10 seconds after posting this... I clicked back onto photos and it said 'syncing' - then they all magically came back! even ones from July....ones that I've already taken & removed from the iPhone!

OTA killed my iP4 and put it in DFU. I hadn't backed up in a while. Screw this.

You sure you don't have a iCloud backup that's recent?

Same thing happend to me.

Had to update iTunes then download the iOS 5 beta 7 ipsw and do a restore in iTunes with that file, which worked.

That got me out of DFU mode and updated. Since iTunes didn't have a recent backup I could restore, I just disconnected it, went into settings and did a erase everything iphone reset. Once that was done I signed in and did restore from iCloud, which was from earlier today thankfully.

Just curious. How many of the people who are having trouble with OTA updates are those who paid to have their UDID reflect developer status when they really aren't?

Any of you with the trouble legit developers with fully paid developer accounts?

I'm not trying to bash, I'm really just curious.

I did have the OTA trouble and I do not have a developer account.
I did beta-test for a developer though. That must be why my UDID is registered cuz I sure didn't pay anyone.

I am not. Paid for mine to be registered.

FWIW I did it on my iPad 2 and Verizon iPhone.

iPad 2 was fine this time and iPhone 4 got stuck in DFU mode.

Wasn't hard to fix at least.

Not sure this line of thought has any validity, but for the record, I'm a paid developer and had no trouble with OTA iPad and Verizon iPhone 4 updates.

The TomTom unable to restore purchases issue is still present in this beta for those interested, although this is likely due to Apple ID API changes in iOS5 that TomTom can't release an update for until Apple start accepting iOS5 Apps!

Same here, no troubles at all.

Here's another question for those who paid to get it registered. (or got it registered as a beta tester for another developer)

When you first downloaded the beta, did you get it from apple.com/developer?
If so, go back there and see if you can still download it from there.

...but it seems that more and more of these issues aren't fixed before the "gold master".

The "just works" tag line is becoming a joke. Lion is a mess for some people.... Any reason to expect IOS5 to be any better?

I can tell you are a very strongly opinionated person. I won't bother answering this as I see you have already formed a strong opinion of apple's products.

Personally, I wouldn't use the bugs in a beta as a basis for dismissing that tag line.
