It's a stupid idea to link size to quality, and for mobile phones even more so. Large is cumbersome and before the smartphone craze mobile phones were getting smaller and smaller for a reason. They should stop going down the road of withholding useful features from smaller phones.

I'm glad they are making bigger phones, as it's what some want. But, I guess my argument is that they should *always* have a phone-sized-phone in the line-up, since, well, it's a phone. (i.e.: 4") :)

It used to be a phone. Now it's a computer in your pocket.

Not likely to come true, but at least I hope that "there is still demand for a 4-inch iPhone" and that demand is strong enough to consider a new 4inch phone. More plausible scenario I imagine is for them to release this new A9 based 4" phone with iPhone 7 as one of the second and half tier line. (as fast as 6s but without 3D touch)

What I'd really want is for Apple to release a brand new 4" iPhone 7 mini as one of the flagship models with all the features. Screen can be slightly larger by reducing bezel, so it could be 4.2 or 4.3" screen but still operable with one hand. 6s is growing on me and I find it ok to use, but I'd still love to have a phone that I can use with my thumb only.

Should AppleWatch 38mm be slower, not have forcetouch, and have less memory than 42mm Apple Watch? Heck no. Different sizes fit different people, and they shouldn't be penalized for this if it's technically possible to achieve parity.

Apple please make a 4" that's on par with 4.7". Please :(

Still with 16GB of storage.

They are NOT going to a 32gb base.. at least until the Millions and Millions of you STOP making the 16GB a success. Wine all you want,,, but for the .25 Cents it costs Apple to increase the size from Entry Level of 16Gb to Next Level 64GB, it would be crazy to abandon that price structure. You want more space,,, you have to pay,,, you want them to change... Don't buy it. They are making a KILLING on the "I Need more than 16GB,,," crowd. They make 32GB the base model,,, no-one,, no-one, will purchase any other size.

All we need to do is look at the source of this rumor and realize we can ignore it.

On the other hand, a lower cost iPhone would hit the spot. My 3GS still rocks and I don't really need all the performance of 6S so a slightly slower, smaller model would be great for upgrade time.

What's wrong with the source? This bloke actually has a good track record. Don't believe me? Go back and do a search for his predictions on this site. He's often spot on with release dates as well.

As for still rocking a 3Gs... so little functionality but a fantastic design.

I'd like this too. Unfortunately it looks like the new one will be the "tall/skinny" iPhone 5 form factor, not the more reasonable pre-5 ratio.

The iphone 4 and 4s were 3.5 inch screens not 4 inch screens. The 5 was the first to get a bigger screen.

No way the memory will be increased right after they just did with the 6s - look how long it took for Apple to go from 1gb to 2!

Also 3D Touch is a hallmark feature. Apple intends apps to make increasing use of it - that will not happen if only *some* of Apples phones support it. So any future phone - just like TouchID - will have it....including this hypothetical 4" iPhone.

It only took them one year to go from 1GB to 2GB right? I'm disappointed that my 6 plus is starting to stutter and lag after less than a year, it could have used the 2GB from the start. I agree they'll keep force touch in any new phones they release, though its hard to imagine a separate release event, if it happens it'll be with the other iPhones next September.

not bad sure. not special either.

His predictions are often correct. but it doesn't take a genius to figure out Apple's patterns.

I am pretty sure my own predictions over the past 3 years have been more accurate than Kuo, and I m sure the same is true with other MacRumors readers.

And this time around, I am calling his bluff. I do not think iPhone 7 will have 3gb. nor do I think there will be a new iPhone in early 2016.

There is a market for a 4'' iPhone so eventually they'll get rid of the 5s and sell a brand new model.
I don't think it will be sold at the beginning of 2016, they can wait till September and launch it alongside the new iPhones.
The new iPhone plus could have some multitasking features, but 2GB of RAM could be enough since iPad Air 2 has that amount of memory. I'd like the new iPhones to share the same specs, if OIS requires more space is ok to have it on the Plus only but the SoC should be the same. I don't want to be forced to buy the Plus because of the amount of RAM

If the iPhone 7s plus gets 3GB ram , iPhone 6 Plus with 1GB ram is going to really struggle under iOS 10. So glad I got rid of the 6 plus, the 6S plus is yet to crash on me.

Though I never much doubt the 7 plus will get 3GB. Maybe iPhone 9....

Bloatware on an iPhone ?

The core apps you cannot delete and need to hide in a folder. There is a bunch of em.

Every OS has them, and most refer to them as bloat ware. Newest example being the news app. No choice to install it.

My eyebrows narrowed when I read early next year, and I chortled when I read 3gb ram. The 7 and 7S will stick with 2gb, maybe the 8 will see an increase.

A rumour plucked from the air methinks, which is fine, they want clicks. It's the fact some people see some truth in it and run with it that's startling, good grief.
