These are being shipped by water? How would we receive them by Tuesday then? By water to L.A. port (I would assume or SF or whatever) then unloaded, then moved to wherever, then shipped via UPS dispatch to everyone across 50 states? In 3 days? That would mean that these would have to arrive in L.A. by Monday at the very latest? I probably seem ignorant but, I have no clue how shipping by boat works.
I experienced the same exact thing with my iPad cases. I had gotten my wife an iPad for an early X-mas gift because she had a business trip to NYC (she's a photo agent and uses it as a portable portfolio) and I didn't want her to destroy her iPad.
Anyway, I ordered on like the 7th, she was leaving on the 13th. I got the same type of tracking that it would arrive in like 3 days from China. Checking the tracking on it the same thing happened - Shenzhen to Chek Lap Kok and then back to Shenzhen. I'm like whatever at least it'll arrive before she takes off. Then, the delivery date started changing on me. Case didn't get here until the 14th. Day after she left.
Again, I've been a little "realistic" and probably pissed some people off. I never meant to upset anyone I just didn't want to get MY hopes up. But, NOW I REALLY want my phone on the 8th.
The main airport of Hong Kong is in Chep Lap Kok (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chep_Lap_Kok_airport). It's one of the main export hubs of Southeast China so I'm sure that it will be shipped by Air.
My boss told me today that sometimes items from Apple are listed as being in China, when in actuality they are in the US, just at a port. Once customs inspects them, then they switch to US. Might not be the situation here, but just thought I would pass the info along. I've been checking my order from Apple hourly. I have a sick obsession!
I don't think any of these would be at any "port" That would mean they are being delivered by cargo ships, which would take well over the expected date to get from Hong Kong to the US.
My iPhone arrived in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong as of 3:40 PM EST today. Looks like they aren't in the US yet after all.
Same with me. I can't decide whether it is local time in China or Eastern time.

Local Hong Kong time
If that's true, the updates are way behind. China is 13 hours ahead of us. It's 1100 on the 6th over there.
