I'm sure you're not alone.

I personally am interested in it but can't afford it. Hoping to be able to get one someday.

He probably isn’t (the only one).

That said, Apple is rumoured to be able to provide only about 200,000 units per year, due to supply constraints of the lens. So we may never really know the true demand for the first couple of years since demand will likely outstrip supply.

I also love how Apple continues to leverage their ecosystem to push their new products. Selling someone as personalised as the Vision Pro only works when you have specialised staff and are able to control the experience that customers get at your stores.

Another example of how specs alone don’t tell the full story here at Apple.

Apple Watch training sessions in Cupertino / Austin were in February for an April release (2015). Lots of people on Weibo are speculating on January launch.
Seems unlikely given the article says the training won’t be til mid January.

hardcore Apple fans will love to go to the Apple Store to pick this up, but casual Apple product users will not. This is just an arrogant strategy that will not work.

The fact that you have to go to the store to get the right fit and use itself is a problem and against the core value of Apple products.

I'm not sure what's worse: risking getting your $3500 headset damaged or stolen in the post or painting a target on your back by buying it from a store.
I'd risk going to the store. If that worried about it, take a buddy or two, call and have him go bring the car around, tell'm Apple1 is ready to exfil via building side 1 😎

I don't get these delivery services. I've had phones, games systems that needed signatures and they'll leave it even without me doing the release online. The other day ordered my girl a $150 purse for Christmas and it required a sig and UPS didn't leave it saying it had to be signed for, only thing I can think of is it was shipped via 2day air since the place sent me the wrong item prior and I had to return it.

It's an entirely new category for most people. I suggest not judging it too early. Apple took their time to do a Mixed-Reality headset better than anything on the market.

Is the high price influencing your position? If it was $400, would you feel differently? Given the incredible technology built in, they are probably losing money on the first several thousands of units sold. It's a long-term vision (pun intended).
No, I just don’t want a computer strapped to my face. I like big monitors - on desks - where I can turn to look out the window at some trees, then turn right back and get to work. I love my Pro Display XDR. Even if the cost of Vision Pro was $400 I’m not interested. Of course, let’s see where things go over the next 5-10 years and maybe I’ll change my mind.

It makes sense - not everyone will be an enthusiast who has a dozen of these VR goggles lying around. Half the people you give this headset to will not have the patience to adjust it correctly or they might lack the experience for how to use one. People have never been quicker to initiate a return so Apple will want to avoid unnecessary returns.

Makes sense. Due to the importance of a custom fit, Im sure they prefer individuals do so at the store vs "guessing" what size head band and light seal they need....only to be disappointed when the product arrives at their doorstep with an improper fit.
Exactly. I am sure if you know what you are doing they'll let you order it online for delivery too, maybe they'll just add a big warning sign that tells people to choose pickup if they're unsure.

Got a Mac? Your entire Mac can run on it, too.
My Mac has a nice retina miniLED HDR screen that's certainly more comfortable to look at. So I'll expect this mode to be dead on arrival. I consider it a convenience thing allowing you to check your computer real quick within a VR session without having to take off the headset.

And i havent been this excited about anything they’ve released since the original iphone😂
Same here - my only hope is that Vision Pro doesn't go the iPad route for me - great at staying in its lane, but just never reaching it's full potential. Hopefully VP is treated more like the Mac than an iOS device, but I am worried that won't be the case.

Hmm and yet MacBooks get delivered at home and bought at Apple stores every day of the year 😏

Like many others, I still haven't seen a single app that makes me want this. But if they have some killer apps at launch I'll buy.

I can't think of a single iOS app that I'd want to use with a heavy hot box strapped on my head. Those Meta commercials actually make me wonder why anyone would use one.

However, I can think of multiple uses for business that have a lot of money, so I think the AVP can do ok the first few years since production output will be limited. Hopeful that the device be significantly improved after that time.

I have almost every Apple product. I’ve been a fan since my first Apple iiCX back in the early 90s. But this is the first time I have zero interest in an Apple device. It feels like a solution in search of a problem, and is being pushed by investors rabid for the “next big thing” to keep the stock price inflated. I’m not going to buy one…

You're not buying one? Imma call Tim and let him know, may be they will cancel the launch.

I’m excited for the product and its potential, but anxious if it will deliver on its promise. I have a Pico 4 which is really impressive especially given its price, but… I only wear it once in a while. Somehow there is too much friction before and during use (charging it, updating it since I use it only now and then, taking my glasses off, putting the headset on, adjusting it, starting Steam VR, taking the headset off and my glasses on again to see the warning I get on my PC, making sure I don’t hit my desk when lashing out with my virtual sword, etc etc). Plus you get ‘VR-head’ every time you play for two plus hours (people that ‘do VR’ know what I’m talking about).

Curious if Apple’s Vision addresses any of this.

I'm trying to think of a use case for the average consumer. It's cool from what I've seen but if you have a family are you going walk around the house talking to your significant other with that thing on or walk down the street with it on? Seems like an accident waiting to happen. $3500 can buy a pretty good movie watching experience at home that the whole family could enjoy at the same time. Right now all I can see using this would be MKBHD, iJustine, Flossy Carter to do reviews and you'd probably see some celeb on some red carpet wearing one to go along with their goofy outfit.
Maybe if it gets to the $1500 range. I mean I'm looking at getting back in to FlightSimming and want to go VR and been looking at the Pimax Crystal and it's $1500

In VR, you can (theoretically) have as many monitors as you want and turn to look out at any beautiful vista from anywhere in the world, and your trees are still there when you get up for a break.

Yes, I'd like to see it smaller/lighter and cheaper, but don't underestimate the potential power of VR/AR. My old Quest 1 already had experiences that were uncanny. I can't imagine what this will be like.

While people in the Apple Store take pictures of you and posting it without your permission on all social media sites.
If they’re willing to wear one of these hilarious contraptions on their head in public then people taking photos of them is the least of their problems!
