I'd rather a slightly thicker case holding everything in than plug in an external optical drive.
I disagree. I've seen several laptops much thinner and lighter than the Powerbook that have integrated optical drives... in fact, they are quite common. And their graphics capability are superior to what's in the Powerbook... integrated or not... shouldn't even matter since this isn't an Alienware laptop with upgradable graphics.
In fact, I can say for certain that my local CompUSA has at least 5 laptops in the 10.6"/13.3" size that are signifcantly smaller, have integrated optical, and superior graphics.
This is probably why Apple hired former Vaio engineers.... their laptops are awesome and the Powerbook would be a much better machine if they took some ideas from these guys.
