It would mean them having to give up their 3Ghz machine and as we all know, Apple have been going on about 3Ghz Power Macs for years and years!!

Why ??

They could just add an octo as the new high end, and keep the existing ones.

The other manufacturers do this - you get the choice of quad 3 GHz or octo 2.66 GHz.

I don't get all those sad faces and harsh words in here - it was just a shop downtime, for God's sake! No huge marketing event or special convention!

Some people seem to wet their pants each time any part of the Apple homepage gets updated, or drool in anticipation, frantically crying "touch-screen iPod" while drowning in their own saliva.
