maybe to set a precedent that maintaining a living standard is no less important than maintaining profit margin.

Why do you think that for example the Apple Store near my home should raise their salaries, when Marks & Spencers, Debenhams, House of Fraser, British Homestores, and so on, are not raising their salaries?

My company doesn't give me a raise either when the dollar gets stronger. Why on earth would they? Any single company owner in Britain would look at you as if you were insane if you suggested they should raise salaries because the US dollar got stronger.

Not a happy camper

The macbook pro I wanted to buy here in France went up from 2499 euros to 2799 euros. And silly me, I was waiting for this 9 march event before buying. Just see if apple would introduce something 'new'. Well I got something new. A new higher price.

I'm not thinking the mbp is worth 300 more from one day to the next. Maybe if they had updated it with new faster processors? 32 gb of ram possible? But it's the same exact mbp they had in their warehouse yesterday.

I've been using apple product since 1990. Sadly, they are becoming a bling bling company.

I liked when I spent this kind of money on a 'work tool' having the options to upgrade my hard drive, put more ram in, buy a new battery when needed...and now, laptops with one port

The german prices are such a joke. 1.449€ for the new MacBook. 449€ for the Apple Watch Sport. LoL

1,449 Euros is exactly the same price as the $1,299 in the USA, once you remember to add VAT. My god, is your educational system going down in the last twenty years. I was taught to think before I open my mouth, don't they teach that anymore?

i have no idea what your company does nor do i have any idea on the wage trend at the stores you mentioned.

im not too bothered if they think im insane. would the staff think im insane?

i was speculating on the motive behind the post you quoted and the reasons are obvious in my post.

It seems that they don't teach common sense, or the basics of simple macro economics.

"My country's currency is weaker against the dollar this year, therefore I deserve a big pay rise"

I weep.

Multitasking on iPad sucks, but was genuinely curious, so I did a comparison.

Apple Watch Sport (42 mm model --- the one I'd buy!!)
U.S. $399
Australia: $579

According to www.xe.com, $399 USD is equivalent to $522.30 AUD. If you add 10% GST, that would be $574.53.

Apple are ripping Australians off by roughly $5 AUD, which is around $3.7 USD.

If the Australian dollar drops any further, we'll be under-paying once again!! ;)

i meant if those prices had been affected as well or if the prices released yesterday included the adjustment.

how is life on ramsay street?

are you referring to me or?

Do you have any idea of the catastrophic consequences of your ideas? No, you obviously don't. The staff would be happy temporarily, only to find their overall cost of living increase due to inflation caused by your suggestion and thus the overall result would be that they are no better off than before.

I don't think you are insane. You're just woefully ignorant.

I have to say the prices are more fair now that the US Dollar is strong.
When I went to the US in 2012 I save a lot of money buying my MBAir and iPad, now I wouldn't save as much so I don't mind buying Apple stuff here.
Of course the prices are still too high, but with a strong Euro I was really upset

no adjustments in germany as far as I can tell which is weird cuz we all use euro. why adjust prices of the euro in france but not everywhere?

prices in Europe are always shown including the tax. people always seem to forget about that when they complain.

First, why are you insulting people ?

Second, 1449 € = 1558 $ US, so you are telling me that you have 259 $ of taxes, around 20%, in the US ?

i didnt offer any idea. i speculated on the reasons behind another post. i also never said deserve and i never mentioned any %.

i did however comment on the possible risk for such an increase.

the raising of wages for the common people is always the biggest catastrophe out there.

The horrible exchange rate is the single reason I will not be buying an Apple Watch... $519 for the 42mm sport watch? No thanks. I have been using Apple products almost exclusively (where possible) for 15 years, but Apple has been leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. Like others I may be looking at other options come upgrade time. Apple makes products that are high quality and that's for certain, but their prices are beginning to become ridiculous.

No kidding! The exchange rate is killer to the mind! No way I'm paying $500 for a watch. $300 would've been the upper limit for me.

Doesn't bother me, since I don't own any Apple computers any more and also won't buy in future.

So why are you here?

In Italy we have 276 euro of taxes, that's about 300$
In France and Germany VAT is lighter I guess, but we are talking about a few dollars

Refurbished pricing...

What a rip-off. I accidentally water damaged my iPhone 5S so took it to Apple to take advantage of their refurbished replacement offer. The price should have been $329, but they told me overnight the price had increased to $369 - that’s a 12.15% increase on stock they already had on hand!

However, when they put it through the Credit Card their system hadn’t fully updated so I got it for $329...

Additionally, why do Apple Stores insist on quoting prices pre-tax?
"Sir that will be $299 before tax."
WTF? In Australia the vast majority pay GST at point of purchase.

Ok, but gnasher729 was talking about US, so I just want to know the current taxes in the US, in order to compare the US price with the french one.
