Maybe, but I think the point was that between 2017 and 2020 there has been little to no improvement.Tough crowd... My 2017 13" MBP is the best computer I've ever owned.
I assume this confirms it will be Intel based.
Good point. We need to find someone with such a Mac to take a look at “About this Mac” to see if it says 2020.The 16-inch Macbook Pro was "updated" to be configurable to have Radeon Pro 5600M in June 2020. Maybe Apple considered this a sufficient spec-bump to warrant the year designation? In other words, could that be the "2020" model Apple is referring to?
I’m kinda in the same camp, but leery of a v1.0 ARM Mac. Yes, it’s putting together Macs they already do with A-series chips they already have lots of experience with, but there’s always a bit of a shakedown cruise with any v1.0 product. Also debating all the benefits of the A-series on one side with BootCamp on the other.Argh. I *desperately* need a new 16" machine, but I am going to wait for Arm.
Post #51 did just that.Good point. We need to find someone with such a Mac to take a look at “About this Mac” to see if it says 2020.

Not Apple ARM. Windows will need to have a version that works with it. Windows is releasing new ARM PCs, but there are still quite a few app compatibilities right now.Windows 10 is fully capable of running on ARM, so I see no reason why there couldn't be a Boot Camp for ARM based Macs. Not to mention that there's several Linux distros that can run on ARM, as well - no shortage of OSs to want to dual boot an Apple Silicon Mac with.
Right. The 2019 16-inch MBP came out in November and the WWDC announcement in June. I bet the configs were locked for the 2020 16-inch well before.I posted a comment not to long ago that had a couple people disagree with me but I knew an updated Intel 16 inch MacBook Pro was coming before the switch.
I don’t think it will be killed. Microsoft has ARM-based Windows PCs. They just need to make sure it works with Apple’s version of the chip, kind of like AMD and Intel.Well alright, at least there is one last macbook before apple destroys one of their most useful features, bootcamp.

Given that Intel has gone completely brain dead, I can't imagine *any* Intel Mac update, at this point, being worth it. I'm hoping Apple will surprise with an ARM 16" MBP next month (in addition to the Intel bump).
