Apple Releases 14.2 Software for HomePod With New Siri, Intercom and Home Theater Features

I´m definitely seeing the Atmos logo in Netflix and Disney. Try force quitting the apps and reopening them.
I can see the atmos logo on these, I think it sounds better haha but is it assumed that if the logo shows it will definitely output in atmos? I can’t find a way to verify it is outputting in atmos, and I can’t change this is the audio settings.

No, this is just the build number. Go to software update on the Apple TV and tell me of beta updates option is on or off.

Apparently there is not visual confirmation of this, unfortunately.

But the difference as opoosed to set the Apple output to stereo is stark. Much much much better, immersive, full bodied sound.

Not sure if this is an issue....Apple TV and one HomePod in standby in home app..

Yep I think you’re right. People who see the immersive audio and output to atmos have an atmos tv, and thus the option appears regardless.
Apple just released an article and it should “just work”.

If you see the atmos logo. It is working.

So, it seems that to make this work, my Apple TV 4K has to be added to the Home app.
Well, my 2 HomePods are in the Home app but I’ve tried everything to add the Apple TV. I’m signed into my iCloud account in the Home app and I’m signed in to iCloud on the Apple TV. Now, my iTunes purchases sign in is different than my iCloud.

Is that the problem? Any suggestions?

Haha they could have posted this before.....

Yes. Mine does, and if I turned off, Atmos is gone with the Homepods.
Do you have one HomePod or a pair?
Does the audio format show Auto, Atmos Available when you select the HomePod as the default audio output option?

You need to change your settings for authentication needed for personal requests in the home app to never. Then it works.
Thank you! That did work for “What’s My Update”, but it stalled when it got to the news, said “sorry” and then stopped. So something is still wrong with getting the news. I tried just asking Siri for the latest news separately and she couldn’t do it either. Anyone having issues with a simple request for the news?

Quick Start may matter

Check whether Dolby Atmos is set up

On your Apple TV 4K, go to Settings > Video and Audio and select Audio Format. Under Immersive Audio, check that Dolby Atmos is on. If you can't see Immersive Audio and Dolby Atmos as an option, you might need to change how your home entertainment system is set up.
You can also check while watching content that supports Dolby Atmos. Just swipe down on the Touch surface of your Apple TV Remote. Under Info, look for
itunes-store-metadata-badge-dolby-atmos.png
.
You can't play sound in Dolby Atmos if Quick Start is turned off in Settings. To check, go to Settings > Apps > iTunes Films and TV Shows > Quick Start.

Yes, stereo pair, Atmos ON, with Homepods selected as a default audio output for the Apple TV.

My TV set (LG OLED B8), support Atmos, and I can see the Atmos logo on Apple TV+, Netflix, and Disney+, with the Homepods selected as the audio output. Previously, the Atmos logo on content wouldn´t appear when playing audio through the homepods.

Maybe turn off eArc and see if it still shows the atmos logo via HomePod. Should bypass atmos for the tv. Worth a shot to see what happens.

If the TV itself needs to support Dolby atmos, I just wouldn’t understand that. That should be possible with Apple TV 4K and HomePods. I just don’t get it.

but if am using the homepods, they are connected directly to Apple TV and should have any bearing on the home entertainment system set up?

Well I’m going to try this when I get home and will report back if this works for me and if I can really tell the difference. I have an Atmos sound bar with rear speakers and subwoofer so it will be interesting to see how well they compare to a ~650 watt system.
Does anyone here remember, “It just works”?

For anyone in doubt. Here are screenshots from my tv. My tv isn’t atmos supported. Atmos logo shows on content. Tv output set to HomePods, audio format auto.
