Haha, so many of you say it is for the new MacBook Pro owners... Maybe I am over zealous, but I got my MBP on Tuesday and installed Boot Camp almost right away ;)...

Am I going to have to reinstall Windows to upgrade to 1.3?

Bootcamp 1.3 under Windows XP crashes Quicktime

I just installed Boot camp 1.3 on my iMac 24". I burned a Windows Drivers CD and installed it under Windows XP. Everything was fine until I tried to view a Quicktime movie in my browser. Under Firefox 2.0 and IE 6.0 I get the error "Quicktime Plug0in 7.1.6 - The plug-in performed an illegal operation."

Is anyone else getting this error?

By the way, I tried reinstalling iTunes 7.2 and this did not fix the problem.

Please help!

/hugs GameCube.
I love when Windows users slam Macs for a lack of games. To be clear, it's a lack of second-tier games that most people really don't give a crap about.

Yes I love my version of HL2 for the Mac.

C&C3 would not work with 1.2 on brand new MBP... Anyone know if "updated video drivers" in 1.3 works? If so, I definitely will download.. LET ME KNOW ! :)

Now Parallels has 3D support (just released version 3) I think people with enough RAM, and lower demands will switch to virtualization :)

Thanks for the info - this was news to me. Surprising since Parallels claims to have given registered customers the chance to pre-order and upgrade. But, really, not surprising since they still haven't responded (other than the automated replies) to two bug reports filed in January and in March. Maybe they haven't figured out their email system...

I'm beginning to wonder if I made the right decision with Parallels - upgrading might just be sending good money after bad. I'd say their support is abysmal; but they'd have to actually have responded at all to get rated as such.

Pretty much sums up how I feel too. Their Linux support is abysmal too, with no tools or shared folders.

I was able to get decent response from their tech support (after I filed a complaint with the BBB)
They were never able to resolve my "issue" with running a boot camp XP install so I was eventually given a refund.

I'll give them another shot at my $$ when they get their tech support to actually respond to e-mails

I installed Bootcamp 1.3 drivers on my Macbook (CoreDuo) under XP. The installation was apparently successful, but when I rebooted (to activate the new software) it just got stuck on a black screen with the fans whirring.

Downloaded the file at a constant 8MB/s, done in a bit under a minute...

Who said Apples server was slow?

Does the video card work in XP? Doesn't it say somewhere its only for Vista?

If you are referring to the graphic card in the Macbook Pro, it works in XP. We had it running on our demo MBP a couple months ago and it was working fine.

They've included those drivers since the beginning. They haven't seemed to have updated them though. They might have this time. I doubt it though.

Why would you use the drivers in Boot Camp for that anyway? If it's a product that exists for Windows for the mass market, you can use the official drivers. I use the official Intel chipset and ATI drivers on my iMac. You can get the proper ATI drivers from here: http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

Do you mean the graphics card in the new MBP? That's the one I'm talking about.

I was going to sift through all the replies but am so busy at work yet saw bootcamps new release.

I have one question since my apple store near me has the 17 inch with the 160 7200 rpm and HD display.

Question:

Did the new graphics card issue get fixed. Can I load xp pro on since a few of my business apps need xp, not vista to run correctly.

Anyone, oh please say yes and make my day so I can get to the apple store tomorrow for this nice new beast.

If an app (including games) is good enough, it makes it over to the Mac.

Oh, how I wish that were true.

Example: SoundForge.

Sadly, a mac app with all the features I need simply doesn't exist. (don't even get me started on that POS Soundtrack "pro")

This will hopefully silence all rumor mongers who have been propagandizing "native Windows virtualization in Leopard."

I don't see how the two are mutually exclusive.

Whoa, no offence but which planet are you beaming from? How about Half-Life 2? Or the Grand Theft Auto series... there are so many awesome games out there that ARE good enough, but haven't been ported to Mac.

I was generalizing, of course, and there will always be exceptions, but for the most part I've used Macs and Windows extensively and I've never seen a can't-live-without-it app on Windows--and that includes games. There are some exceptions to the rule with games too but generally, if a game is worth playing, it's going to get to the Mac. When I say that, I mean from the perspective of the casual gamer/typical consumer. The problem is that gamers are so entrenched in the gaming mindset that they often don't understand that most people don't give a rip about some of the games that they think really matter.

Frankly I believe that Windows on the Mac is a saviour for Apple's marketshare. If it weren't for Bootcamp, I wouldn't even consider buying another Mac.

I don't disagree that Boot Camp is a great move on Apple's part.

This may be, and probably is, rediculous but the first thing that came to mind when I read "updated video drivers" I thought of them making it so the GMA 950 in the macbook couldn't achieve 224MB to save apple any kind of repairs.... Yeah....pretty rediculous since this is for the new MBP primarily, but I thought I'd say it anyway. :D

That's exactly how I feel. Build 3188 was released in early March but still contained a few bugs that was supposed to be fixed in the next "build". Now this next build is a new version that I have to pay for to see if the problems are fixed.
