Ram Addressing

Anyone know how well 3gb of RAM will be utilized given this issue of uneven sized blocks etc that I have read about with regard to the macpro. Also, anyone got any comments on the new 17inch - screen lighting/battery etc.
Thnx.

Having Matched pairs makes a minimal difference. Having more ram is going to be better then having matched pairs....it really depends...are you going to be using a ton of ram? thats only when it is going to make a difference.

when i ordered my macbook pro, i also ordered a wireless mighty mouse. the laptop estimated shipping is th 31st, and the mouse is 8th. the laptop and mouse would be shipped separately, right? I'd hate to have to wait another week and a half.:(

how to find tracking info??

hey guys, how do you get the level of detail that you can see about your MBPs? When I look at "Your Order Status" (from my shipping conf. email) I see a bit of info, but only expected arrival dates, not the movement detail.

Am I looking at the wrong thing, or do different countries (im in UK) simply have different information?

My status is exactly the same so if you could ring up that would be great, it's really frustrating seeing all the people in the US getting their laptops while my status hasn't changed for 5 days, arrgh.

My status just got updated with:

28 okt 06 32 55 flight departed Apple Shanghai 01 nov 06

Seems they don't like to update the shipping status over the weekend >_<

Hopefully I'll get further notification about its location today.

mine just arrived at local fedex and on vehicle for delivery..SWEEEET! two days EARLIER!!! WOW!

This also had me stumped to begin with but if you check your order status (edit: you also need to click the tracking # link to get to the shipment status page) and take the number beginning '80' under 'Our Delivery Reference Number' and plug it into http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/ you should get some more info.

ahah, nice one! thanks for the info.

so where it says ETA = 03 Nov 06, is that ETA to next point (seems to be Daventry warehouse), or to me? (to me, please, to me!!!)
:D

According to the FAQ on appletrack:

"3. What does ETA mean, and can it be trusted?
ETA means "Estimated Time of Arrival", and is the date at which the courier believes you should have the item in your own hands. Unfortunately it seems like it more often means the time when the parcel is handed over to the EDC."

So um, I don't really know. Looks like it's the ETA for when that particular courier has done it's part of the job.

is www.apecode.com/appletrack for uk order tracking only? I ordered in Japan, and am wondering how to also get more descriptive details on ordering status. My order number that I received via email from the apple store (after making order over phone) started with a '70'. I tried plugging the order number into the track field in the tracking site, and it didn't seem to work.

well, mine was listed as shipped via Federal Express. ON my order status page, for each of my items, it lists them separately. and shows the package tracking number. My airplane power adapter and extra battery were both shipped separately from the MBP. The tracking number on each show the information through a linked page. FEDEX is pretty good about showing package location on their tracking system.

For example, currently magsafe power adapter is showing to be delivered 10/31. extra battery also left Rancho cordova (new apple distribution/warehouse center) and is set to be delivered 10/31.

and unfortunately see this
Oct 30, 2006 11:08 AM Picked up SHANGHAI CN
Package received after FedEx cutoff

so it may get delayed an extra day at the airport in china. argh

Not limited to the UK but it think it only works for orders being shipped (at least initially) via Kuehne+Nagel / TNT. I'm sure someone can provide you with a better answer and directions on how to track your order but I'm pretty new to all this myself.
