Well, mine's still stuck in Shanghai or somewhere between there and Anchorage. We just see tracking notifications when they get scanned to leave a FedEx facility. Doesn't account for how long they sit on the loading dock, on a truck, waiting for a plane, etc... I did notice that FedEx changed my estimated delivery from 11/1 to 11/2 in the last few hours. Hmmmmm...

Ah, looks like we're in the same boat. My delivery changed from 11/1 to 11/2 as well. Are all MBP orders coming from China?

yep, mine changed too

hope our plane isn't stuck somewhere :(

Please look at them side by side at the store before making claims like this, Thanks

Huh? Please look at what in a store before making what claim?

My only claim is my HD TV isn't glossy, while others were claiming they all are. I've used matte screens in everything (except portable electronics), and they're great.

and unfortunately see this
Oct 30, 2006 11:08 AM Picked up SHANGHAI CN
Package received after FedEx cutoff

so it may get delayed an extra day at the airport in china. argh

I have the same thing on my laptop shipping. :( Maybe ours are coming on the same flight.

you said you would hate to use it in a desktop.......try it out before making conclusions! it all personal preference...which is maybe you prefer but it doesn't sound like you have tried out a apple glossy laptop, I could be wrong

My new Sony KDL-32s2010 doesn't have a glossy screen either. Looks fantastic, and it's virtually glare free.

I've really never seen glossy screens outside of notebooks. I'd hate to have one for a desktop!

I recently bought a KDS-60A2000 and it's matte, and I love it. The Sony CRT type before it was more of a glossy screen as it had a hard plastic cover over it, and it had some glare... but this was no problem due to the placement of the unit.

I've seen a Macbook, and it's okay, but I don't see the point of "glossy" screens. AFAIK they're just missing part of the screen basically. I'd hate to have to stare at a glaring reflection all day.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!

My Apple shipment status now says...

Apple said:
Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment Delayed

The Apecode page provides slightly more detail...

Apecode said:
shipment on hold due to cargo exceeding daily space allocation

:( :(

missing? uhhhh what are they missing?

The anti-glare screen?

I really don't have an issue with the glare like the matte people seem to point out how glarey it is....im in a well lit spot right now and I have no problem at all...once again, it all points to peference

I got a stock 2.16 C2D MBP from the Bethesda Apple Store on Friday and these are my impressions (I have experience with the original MBPs and a Blackbook):

- Certainly seems cooler than the old MBPs. I'm idling at about 49C, but more importantly the case (especially the keyboard) seems cooler.

-there is no whine when running on battery. When running off the power adapter, there is a whine when you stick your head up to the upper left of the keyboard. This is no where near as bad as the original MBP running off battery and I only noticed it because I was looking for it. My Blackbook does the same thing. For the heck of it, I loaded ShhMBP and it does get rid of the whine off power adapter for those that are really picky.

-no mooing.

-one strange thing that I assume I'll be able to walk into the Apple store and get replaced. The power adapter doesn't illuminate orange when charging. Also, when my computer is fully charged and the power adapter is green, when I disconnect it from the MBP it stays green! Weird.

Hope this helps.

My estimated delivery as listed on the FedEx tracking is November 2 right now. I think it slid from Nov. 1, not sure. The apple order shows Nov. 1 estimate.

Does anyone have experience with the Firewire bandwidth on the MBP as compared to Powerbook - ie is FW800 and FW400 on same bus or is this linitation improved from powerbook where a FW800 HDD and FW400 audio interface would bring the computer to it's knees if used together??

You will need to see the Service manual to find out if the FW 800 and 400 are on different buses. How many PCI lanes does the ICH7 south bridge support (assuming the FW chips are PCI as usual), I would say the chances are quite high they share a PCI connection to the SB. I know of no FW800 PCI-E chips.
As a long time Mac Audio user myself I would say, go for eSATA via a Expresscard SATA card for audio drives, RAID if you want to (or boot from it), and then Firewire for an audio interface. You dont need FW800 unless you want the features of the FW800 interfaces. If you already have a FW800 drive then find out if the 2 firewire ports are on the same bus first, cos you will probably have issues if they are and you use a FW audio interface and HD together.
Use a USB2 or FW400 external drive for backing up to.

Mine should hopefully be here this afternoon.. It left MEMPHIS, TN late friday night and FEDX hasn't updated the tracking number since.. I paid for express shipping.

Argh. If FedEx is right, mine's been sitting at the Fedex Depot in Shanghai for 1.5 days now...

Update (of sorts): At least mine is now showing an estimated Delivery date - Nov 1 at noon. Up until now it hadn't provided a date at all. But first it'll have to leave Shanghai...
