FWIW, FedEx won't share any info other than what's on the tracking info page. As for delay, there technically wasn't one. My MBP is probably sitting right next to yours (and 1000 others) as it arrived in AK at 12:49 also. They left the FedEx facility in Shanghai at 1:39AM 10/30. Allow a few hours to get to the airplane and whatnot and then a LONG flight and then more time still until they are received at the FedEx center and scanned into the system again. There's 13 hours difference between Shanghai and Anchorage, plus the flight time. FedEx has the delivery schedule worked out for all these systems and know what flights they go on and when... In their system there probably was no delay... It's probably that they had to wait around for 6 to 8 hours or so for the next FedEx flight, and that's probably all the waiting there was - it's like a 13 to 15 hour flight, and probably another couple hours of shuffling about in AK before getting scanned. Just because a package is scanned al leaving at a certain time doesn't mean that it's on a plane and taking off at that time.

I'm just going by the fact that my Apple email with the FedEx tracking number in it showed estimate delivery of Nov. 1. So when I saw Nov. 2 on the FedEx site that I saw today I combined that with some of what was read here and thought there was a delay.
In the end I personally have nothing to gripe about "officially" as I paid for the slower free shipping. As someone said earlier, I'm happy if it's here this week, which I'm sure it will be.

That's why Apple's delivery dates are listed as estimates. As for the more expensive expedited shipping, I'm not sure how that works or even if it does. All these systems are coming from China via FedEx IP DD service, which is 2 to 4 days delivery time from most places in the world. If you pay the extra $18 or whatever it was, what does that buy you? FedEx doesn't offer any further expedited service for this situation... If you paid the extra, Apple just pockets the money... If it fails to get to you within 2 days of shipping, you can call and request a refund of that extra shipping charge I guess. ...Went through that one before with HP also shipping systems from Shanghai. Why pay the extra for 2-day shipping when either way they get shipped via the same FedEx International Priority service.

My package is in Alaska right now (Monday) and estimated to be in Los Angeles at my home on Thursday. That can't be the fastest possible service FedEx has. I would think that if I sent a package from AK to CA it would be a two day shipment (ie Wednesday).
Does anyone on this same FedEx boat (ie. adiosk8, aiolos, AppliedVisual, deputy_doofy, iBorg20181, mdntcallr, patrick0brien, yoshe200) have an arrival of Nov. 1? Are we all showing Nov. 2? What service did you specify on ordering?

I'd be curious to see if any "expedite" shippers are Nov. 1 from this batch. I saw that kstotlani was listed as Nov. 1, did you pay for expedite shipping (or whatever it's called -the $15 extra) kstotlani?
If my package was coming on Wed. I'd be willing to agree that the standard and expedite shipping are equal in speed when coming the Shanghai route. But with Thursday listed I would be curious to check with the above people and see if there are any variances and patterns.

Mine arrived in Alaska at 12.49 today - must be the same flight. I paid for expedited shipping and mine's still showing a Nov 1st by 10.30 arrival date. I'm guessing it'll be revised soon, though. I'm in Minneapolis, MN.
That said, I've been following, and I think I got shipping notification before you guys did. It "left origin" at 8.11 on 10/28. If that's before you guys, maybe they've got some kind of prioritization scheme going on?

Been running some tests so far: I maxed out the processing power of both cores for about 25 mins and temps have not exceed 71C even dropping to 67C at times. The machine is VERY cool and its sitting on my bare thighs now. The fan is very effective and is even blowing cold air on my thighs which is kinda cool. I AM LOVING THIS THING!.
Ordered the 24th. Not supposed to be delivered till the 16th... Pretty sad that the 17/Glossy makes that big of a difference...
I am expecting the same MBP that u r using now. You are making me more anxious than I am already.

Checked thw 2 Apple Stores in Colorado tonight: no 17"ers yet. If they were in stores today, I woulda picked one up and canceled my order! But now (as of this second) I'm willing to wait until November for my 3gb ram CTO. I must be strong, I'm saving a few hundred bones in taxes by having it delivered.
