Apple Releases Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro

No, is for me (Netherlands) the same: shipping 7 Nov, ETA 13 Nov. As soon as I get a shipping message, I'll start tracking and we can play the same game the 15" boys and girls are doing! Come on, 17 inchers

It's not the size that counts, but how you ship it.

anyone getting a weird invoice after it's shipped?:

Honestly, what has amazed me most so far is how positive all the reports have been. I know it's too early to be writing this up as the day Apple finally produced a problem-free portable, but...wow. No whine, no moo, no shutdowns, quieter, and even cooler? It sounds almost too good to be true. Usually there's at least a couple of major issues reported by now.

I'm happy to say mine will be on its way as soon as I box up and ship off this old TiBook. (what an upgrade!)

Put in my daily call to the Apple Store this afternoon checking on in store availability of 17"ers and got the response of "middle to end of next week."

Congratulations to All TNT UK users (except the unlucky ones). We are 1 day away from receiving the long awaited MBP.

This is what I got in TNT tracking website.

I used the ADC store to make this purchase and have called the store and they've said everything seems OK. How do you guys get so much tracking info while I just have this? I'm assuming that date is when this thing is gonna be ready to ship from China. Thanks guys and gals.

Edit: It's being sent to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada ... I have no tracking information at all. Is there another site I should be going to?

Check the shipping company.

In the UK, the shipping companies are either K+N (Online tracking is http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/) or TNT (online tracking http://www.tnt.com/)

Good luck to all of you waiting for your MBP.

Don't worry ! I ordered mine with ADC the day it came out (tuesday the 24th) the estimated shipping date was the 31st, no delivery date was mentionned. It shipped yesterday (30th). Now I can track my order. It is in Anchorage.
By the way. I live in Canada too (Québec).
I think checking the ADC status takes time.

Nope, mine is taking that long. I ordered mine within 15 minutes of them being available online. I've been tracking it, and it's in my state now, so I'm hoping tomorrow will be the day - exactly when Apple estimated I would get it.

Approximately how long should it take to recharge an MBP (I have a C2D 2.16GHz)? I wore the battery all the way down and it took 5 hours to recharge. I also just used it off battery for about 20 minutes and I get "55 minutes until full".

Is it normal for an MBP to take longer to charge than it does to drain battery? This doesn't seem the case for any other devices I've owned.

Thanks.

LOL - me, too! I know that Macs are worth more than peecees, but $20 billion (and change!) is a bit steep, even for a C2D MBP!

I've been thinking the same thing - a couple of days after initial units are shipped and being used, there have generally been multiple posts of significant complaints, be it noise, heat, screens, etc. But not this time!?!?!

Hey, I'll be upgrading from a TiBook, too! Can't wait! WooHoo!!!

:D

Weird, now it's looking normal, maybe it was because I was using IE at work...
I'm at home using FireFox2 with ubuntu 6.10 now :p

Got Mine!

I just picked mine up from the FedEx office! I wasn't home today but it was delivered two days early!

Just loading up software, but the quality looks good. Lies flat, no dead pixels (matte)... Wicked fast!

the dvd drive of my mbp makes a loud sound when it is taking in the disk. Is that normal??

if its your first Apple notebook you might find the noise loud.

If you've owned one before and the noise is different than usual then you might want to have it checked out.

While you wait for your new MBP to arrive, chew on these facts for fun...:

In the 1400's a law was set forth that a man was not allowed to beat his wife with a stick thicker than his thumb. Hence we have "the rule of thumb".

Many years ago in Scotland , a new game was invented. It was ruled; "Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden"...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language.

The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV was Fred and Wilma Flintstone

Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the US Treasury.

Men can read smaller print than women can; women can hear better.

Coca-Cola was originally green.

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

The average number of people airborne over the US any given hour is 61,000.

Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair.

The first novel ever written on a typewriter was Tom Sawyer

If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle.

If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle.
If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

Q. If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go

A. One thousand

Q. What do bullet-proof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers all have in common?
A. All invented by women.

Q. What is the only food that doesn't spoil?

In Shakespeare 's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase… "Goodnight, sleep tight."

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England , when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them "Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down." It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's"

Many years ago in England , pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice.

Well, got my BTO Mac Book Pro today. God is it fast. It's true, no noise at all. It's hard to tell if anything is going on. The 160 GIG HD is equally fast.

Overall, a great model to switch over from Windows. :)

While you wait for your new MBP to arrive, chew on these facts for fun...:

....Many of those "facts" have made the rounds as part of one list or another via both internet and junk faxes, etc.. Too bad they're not all true.

For starters, the Flintstones were NOT the first couple to be shown in bed together on primetime TV. Mary Kay and Johnny were - in 1947. And while I like the acronym for GOLF, does anyone actually fall for that? And yeah, Coca-Cola was originally green. It also originally contained cocaine back in the late 1800's.

well looked at the tracking sites today (ordered a bay for the new laptop yesterday at 2pm) and looks like the laptop and bag are due here today

excellent. :D

Does anyone have an idea how long it's taking Apple to ship MBPs? I ordered a C2D 2.16 2GB 120GB Glossy last Friday. I was wondering when it might be ready to ship. Like everyone else, I can't wait to get my hands on it.
