Same problem here Iñaki, mine is shipping to Madrid and yours to Barcelona so it seems our MBPs are in the same plane/truck.

My first ETA was the 2nd and then 6th. I hope It arrives on Monday next week...

Hard disk is 120GB Fujitsu.

theres a pretty good discussion about this taking place in the macbook pro forums right now, but it seems as if my notebook has broken the mold.

Yesterday I bought a stock 15" 2.33 C2D with a Glossy Screen form the Apple Store in Wellington, FL

It has the Hitachi PMR 120gb drive. It seems, thus far, I am an anomaly.

Gee...am I the only one whose MBP is actually taking as long to ship as Apple estimates?

Ordered stock 2.16/glossy 10/26 9.47pm PST
Estimated shipping date: Nov 2
Estimated delivery date: Nov 9
As of now, still being built in China...

I ordered at 6pm on 10/27. The only difference was I ordered 2GB. It shipped this morning.

To judge by this forum 99% of the C2D buyers have gone for the 15" model. Can that be true? Or is it just that the 17" models are so behind on delivery dates that nobody's posting yet? I ordered mine (17" 2.33GHz 3GB RAM 160GB HD Glossy) within 5 minutes of the the Apple Store site being updated on the 24th. Shipping date 7 Nov, ETA 14 Nov. Is this typical for Australia?

Me too. 17"er glossy 200GB, Australian store. Ordered with an hour or two of release. Ship 7th, ETA 14th.

I am in the same boat. 17" Glossy set to ship on Nov. 7th, though I am in the US. I wonder if anyone's 17" MBP has shipped yet.

It sounds like, for the most part, that those of us with 17" have an estimated delivery date of either Nov 13th or Nov 14th.

Somethings Happening

Well.......something seems to be happening on the 17" front because, in the last hour or so, my Order Status has changed to read 'Custom Configured' which can only mean it's been.....Custom Configured!!

Yay, it finally shipped! I have a copy of Windows XP Professional and a stack of DVD's with programs I need to install on both Windows and OS X waiting on my desk. I also bought an iLap that I don't think I'll be needing after all(must return). I have never been this excited about a computer in my life.

For those with the MacBook Pro C2D:

Does your display close flush with the bottom case or does it bend up from the edges?

Finally, it's around the corner!

:D

did you get on the same truck again, because if it is, then you will recieve yours before weekend.
Sound weird write to you in english, but, to be polite to other, I will keep writing in foreign language, even though I 'am from Bilbo ;)

hehe - i just had my MBP flight to the US canceled...

(because I live in Shanghai)... I called FedEx, and asked them to hold my shipment from Apple at the FedEx center, so I can pick it up myself.

Thanks to FedEx for being so flexible, I'm going to save hundreds of dollars over re-shipping the item back to China.

:p

This is only tangentially related. All this talk of the various speeds of HD you can get as BTO options has been making me wonder what I already have. I recently found out my current internal HD is 4200 rpm, but this machine is at its end of days, and a new MBP is ordered. But my external HD remains, and I have no idea what rate that is. It's a LaCie 160GB d2 Extreme, but it's at least a year old (maybe a year and a half? maybe two?). I'm having a much harder time tracking down what rpm this drive is. It's certainly not a big deal, but I'm curious now, so if anyone has any hints as to where to look or how to find out, I'm all ears.
Thanks.

The guys at TNT screwed it up, send it to the billing address (Oviedo, AS) instead of shipping address (Madrid, MA) so now the MBP is in Benavente half the way betweeen Oviedo and Madrid and It seems I will get it on Monday...

Hey, I got an update this morning:

01 nov 06 truck arrived at final destination Apple Shanghai

Any idea what this means?

Same here. I called Apple both yesterday and the day before and both times they were completely useless. Both times the guy I spoke to went away for about 3 minutes then came back and said "Ah yes, the delay is because it's a CTO machine so it has to be shipped from China". I pointed out that I had ordered hundreds of machines before (I work for a university) and I know they come from China and this time it is an additional, unexepcted delay. Both times they could offer no explanation. I aksed for the company that *currently* has the parcel and both times they said UPS, which is incorrect. UPS only deliver the parcel at the end.

I asked them what information they actually had and all they could offer me was the UPS tracking number, which I told them not to bother giving me since it's already shown on the website.

EDIT: I should also point out that it is clear the Apple phone staff have LESS info than is shown on the Apecode site, as they could not see anywhere on their own tracking info that showed anything more than the current ETA.

Man i knew i shoulda stayed away from this thread. You guys (multimedia) are making me lament not getting a PMR drive. Is there really that much of a difference?. Man i wish i got the Super PMR drive.

Thing is i want to keep this thing for a while so i want the best specs possible. This way i dont have to upgrade till penryn chips...which was my original plan.

So guys PMR worth returning a stock MBP while i still have my 14-day window for a BTO 160GB HDD? or the performance difference isnt that great. Thing is i move/encode/re-encode alot of AV files around...alot so i need transfer/read/write speeds to be pretty good.

I also hear Fujitsu drives hardly last long.
