Interesting, no update for me. I believe that the destination you have reached is the line at the very top of your status data (in my case, FLEXTRONICS LOGISTICS UK., DAVENTRY, GB). I think this is where your order is combined and then handed over to UPS.
edit: Mine just updated to '01 nov 06 90 75 truck arrived at final destination Apple Shanghai 01 nov 06'. Something else I noticed, the booking slot shipping point now shows NLAMS07. It appears that the latest entry always shows Apple Shanghai for some reason.
Hi Peter... my C2D closes flush... straight on. There is a small space between the top and bottom edges ~1 mm. On further investigation the top lid closes to be flush on the trackpad button with no space in between. The trackpad button is about 1 mm above the rest of the keyboard. I have to say that on mine the fit & finish is perfect.

Has anyone worked their new MBP under load yet? How does it respond? Temperature? Fan noise? Speed?
I ordered the same configuration last Friday was well (6pm). It shipped yesterday morning.
These are what im getting
iTunes/iMovie/Quicktime encoding is VERY fast, and fan noise is not annoying at all and within reasonable parameters.
Gonna try Handbrake soon though.

My MBP showed as shipped yesterday. FedEx showed that the package was received Nov 1 then said "Received after FedEx Cutoff". I checked over 24 hours later and it's still showing that same status. I would have hoped it would have left China by now.

Some interesting new developments in my shipment. The apple shipment status page now lists the carrier tracking number and assigned carrier as KUEHNE & NAGEL. Tad late considering it's now no longer with them and reached its final destination according to appletrack but anyway... The estimated delivery date has also changed to the 1st of November, i.e. yesterday.
Oh well I guess I shouldn't be complaining, at least it did get updated.
UPDATE: Well since I've been typing this the assigned carrier has changed again to WALSH WESTERN UKDC. The carrier tracking number also changed and is now the same as the customer reference number. The estimated date is still the same and obviously incorrect.

how do you get that extra info on the top bar ( the temp and cpu process )
Last time I flew through Pudong airport, I was delayed for four hours and missed my connection in Beijing...which was also delayed, just not for four hours. It's pretty normal for planes to be delayed in China. Anyway, hope that makes you feel better...I have a 17 coming, so I'm still waiting for any news at all.
No, mine doesn't. The right side is flush, but the left has about 1-1.5mm of movement. The left latch must be ******. I saw a post by someone else here who had the same problem, only his was more 'bent'. The nearest apple store from me is quite far, but I'm going to take it in and see what they say next week.
If it's any consolation, I think our MBP's are stuck in the same place as my results are exactly the same. I ordered mine almost immediately too... mines going to the UK (Northern Ireland) and is a 15" with 160gb HDD...
My new C2D 15" MBP has the same problem. It drifts up a lil bit on the edges, mostly on the left side. Although its barely noticable, and it doesnt bug me enough to wait a week sending it back, and another week getting it back. I guess I'll live with it.
It's hard to tell without photos but if it helps, my current MBP (15") and last MBP (17") both have slightly uneven gapping between the lid and case when closed. It is nothing extreme and kind of goes up then down a little bit - ie, on the right side the front end where latch is has larger gap (slightly) and on the left side the middle of the gap is slightly greater with the ends being tighter.
I feel like this is within reason and again, I can't see exactly what it is you're describing. But neither this MBP that I have or my last had any kind of "swiss watch" tolerences along the lid/case gap. Overall the whole machine looks very good and has fine details but I suppose there are some variances.

Thanks for looking at your MacBook Pro's display fit everyone. I'm hoping mine is flat because that really annoys me.
Also, the Mighty Mouse sucks! I went and bought a Razer mouse today which seems to be a lot better. It doesn't have 360 deg scroll like the MM but at least I can count on it working.
