Apple Releases Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro

Check out the second page of the PDF (right-hand pane) for info on decoding the part number...

HTS541612J9SA00

54 = 5400 RPM
16 = MAX Size in SERIES (160 GB)
12 = Size of THIS drive (120 GB)

SA = Serial ATA

Sorry, I misstyped the 5200. My bad.

Edit: Whoops! You are right, we are shipping our full 5k160 line now. Apologies, I am exposed to items I am NDA'ed, and they don't usually tell us when we can talk about something ;)

Second Edit: How are we sure it's a 5k160? And not a 5k120?

Umm.... because the part number starts with HTS5416, not HTS5412...

5416 = 5400 RPM 160 Series (MAX Size = 160 GB)
5412 = 5400 RPM 120 Series (MAX Size = 120 GB)

Man... ordered on the 24 a 17" and now it isn't supposed to be built till 8th and not shipped till 16th... Sad am i...

This is worse than waiting for merom to come out...:( :mad:

I feel your pain. My 17" glossy with 3gb ram is "Estimated Delivered By: NOV 20, 2006"
Noooooooooo! Damn Government pricing cost me days! I ordered it on a Friday, but didn't get comfirmation until Monday! Aaarrrgh!

I too feel your pain. I ordered a 15 inch 2.33ghz on the 15th(The day after they were released) and had an original ship date of Nov. 1st. But it didn't ship on the 1st, so now I have a revised date of the 9th. And I've emailed and called and can't get a answer as to why it was delayed so horribly.

Needless to say I weep everyday now :'(

Everybody with a 17" seems still to be waiting :mad: . However, my card has been charged the day before yesterday, I believe. Dates still unchanged: shipping Nov 7th, delivery Nov 13th (ordered Oct 24th)

Wow, where are you ordering from? That's really delayed! I ordered LATE on the evening of 10/24 (almost midnight CST), and got a shipping estimate of 10/31 - it shipped from China on 10/30, and arrived in my impatient fingers on 11/2! (I ordered "standard" shipping, then called to change to "2 day shipping" - however, they never added a shipping charge! (Multimedia and others have suggested that ALL shipping is "2 day," so paying the extra is a waste!)

We're pulling for you, dude! Waiting sucks, especially when these Merom MBPs are such fine machines! The wait is worth it, trust me! :eek:

Did yours involve an educational discount? That seems to be a common theme amongst those whose orders are delayed.

FWIW, it'll be worth the wait. This machine absolutely rocks!

I ordered from the education store on 10/27. I received an estimated ship date of 11/3 with delivery on/about 11/13. The computer shipped on 11/1 and was delivered yesterday (11/3).

I'm don't think education orders are being delayed.
 
ARGH! the wait for ur macbook pro to arrive is annoying, its killing me!

I'm 15 minutes from where my package is being held at the FedEx warehouse but I can't get it till Monday. That's pain. I tried to pick it up over the weekend there but they said to call some number mon-fri 8am-5pm. What's the point of telling me that?

I really do need this computer ASAP for work. There are a few big clients that I need to meet with and I need a computer for the design work.:( :( :(
 
Weird shipping?

:confused: Everything looks good until it got the Indiana, then it goes back and forth between Ontario and Los Angeles. I am next to Ontario by the way. Why didn't they just ship it to LA from Alaska? Me thinks someone had a brain fart.

This coming Tuesday (Not a pun) I go to the Brandon, FL CompUSA store to fine tune the details of my purchase of a MBP C2D 17" with the Apple rep. It is finally going to happen. :)

I can hardly wait. I will be able to continue my study for my bachelors degree without having to fight trojans, viruses, Windows quirks, and other stuff related to Microsoft attempts at engineering and design and development. :rolleyes:

This puts me in the frame of mind illustrated in the Cream song "I'm So Glad"

Well ... Eric, Jack, and Ginger .... I am so glad...I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad.

And I am sure that my MBP and I will be Turtle-ish "Happy Together"

Initial Thoughts

I have posted my initial thoughts about my new 15.4" MBP C2D on my blog at http://www.crossforward.com/blog. I will keep updating this will my thoughts and experiences as I get more use out of it. Any questions or things people want me to do/check/etc. just drop in a comment and I will do my best to respond.

They certainly weren't delayed with the 15" model. I received mine on 10/31 - one of the earliest "Flight 139'ers" to take delivery. :D And that was with the BTO options.

Same here, BTO 15" 2.33 / 160GB. I was a "flight 139'er" also - mine showed up 10/31, about 8:48AM. :D Anyway, they're shipping, not sure why there would be a delay that some people are talking about... Unless the demand really is that high and production can't keep up.
 
Well... I don't know about you guys but I am absolutely mad :mad: about Apple delivery. I have ordered my MBP the first day via Educational discount. Then I was told that shipping will be before 31st last month and delivered here in UK by 7th of November. Never happened. Is still not shipped and the most annoying thing is that Apple store can’t say why is not shipped!! ! !
I have called them already 4 times and always I have been promised that MBP will be shipped day after. Today they promised to ship MBP at Monday. I don’t believe them for some reason anyway. Why the hell Apple is so bad for handling those types of simple tasks. On the end of the day I am willing to spend £1600 for it and they still treat me this way.
By the way, has anyone experience similar experience with Apple store in UK?

Hmmm... Unless it's a hold-up with the educational program in the UK or other countries. All I can say is keep calling them until you get shipment confirmation. If you ordered 10/24, there's no reason you shouldn't have it by now (unless it's a 17", those still are not shipping).

That’s what they told me.....it's a hold up. But when I asked them why is on hold up they don't know. Its 15" not 17" MBP by the way. I just can't believe that they don’t know why is on hold up. That’s just more than silly.

I am an education UK MBP user. I ordered mine on 24th and I got mine on 1st Nov. I don't think they are delaying HE orders.
