Order Delay

I ordered a MacBook Pro 15 inch 2.33 on the second day out and now I am getting a NOV 28th ship date. I don't get it. Is it because I have a educational institutional purchase?

Well, I have had my MacBook Pro Core 2 for almost a week now and have to say I am a bit disappointed and frustrated. To top the list, the fan runs constantly and at full blast on the computer from the moment you start it up til the moment you shut it down. Called Apple and was hoping for a firmware update to fix the problem. But, nope. They ran through all of the possible fixes and now tell me I will have to ship it back to them and they will send another one out and I should have it back in a week.

That is pretty unusual. My fan isn't on that much (C2D 2.16GHz MBP). When it is on, it is louder than my Powerbook's fan was - but it is a less annoying sound. The PB fan had this high, whiny-scratchy sound. This one is much lower pitched, and sounds like a significantly bigger fan.

I ordered my 17in the day it was released via an academic front end. It was discounted and is supposed to ship tomorrow.

My guess would be your location.

Yep, edu kids get them slower

I also purchased a 2.33 15" on the second day, and have a shipping date of November 29th pushed back from an original estimate for November 3rd (see post one page back for full sob story, if you're into that kind of thing). I called Apple's order inquiry line, and was informed that educational units are indeed shipping slower if they are, like mine, being delivered to a university store. Apple advised me to cancel the order with my school's custom store and reorder through the generic Apple educational store (which is essentially the same thing) if I wanted it sooner. Bah! Why must Apple torment me so? :(

does anyone know if it's the same for developers or even worse on the shipping dates?

I'm expecting a November 7th ship date.
Well, it's 12:15 am PST and 4:15 pm in China.

AND NOTHING HAS SHIPPED YET!??!?!

If it doesnt ship tomorrow, rest assured I am making sure Apple increases my shipping status to something more immediate and desirable.

Huuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrraaaaaaayyyyyyyy!:D :D :D

07 Nov 2006 09:26 Roma Cinecitta' Out For Delivery

This has been the most painful waiting of my life...

Did you choose a glossy display? Or is a standard configuration?

My order status still says 'Ships by 07/11/2006', but there's only 5 hours left of 7th November in this part of the world. They'd better get a move on!

This brings the interesting question of what is exactly meant by Nov 7th? :) :) Here we have fortunately another 12 hours to go!:D :D

Good point! and that gives me hope because, while it's still 7th of November somewhere in the world, there's still a chance of my MBP 17" shipping on time!

I am holding on to the fact that's now only 8 AM in Cupertino, so Apple has still a full day of Nov 7th to send shipping messages. Please....soon...:(

Huh!

My shipping date has just gone from the 7th to the 14th!
Estimated delivery date shot to 23rd to 24th!!!!

My friend has just had his increased from 7th to 21st!!!! ETA 30th.

Both orders are in the UK.

WTF!! Why release them a month before they can supply! The AppleStore still says 7-10 days...

Yeah, where are you located? Perhaps that has something to do with it?
I'm still reporting a 11/7 delivery date.

usvi - I see you're in WI. Has your info changed? I'm in CA and still reporting the same date they initially gave me.

Just called Apple. They are still confirming my Nov 7 ship date with "no reports of expected delays."

I mentioned that some people were getting extended ship/delivery dates, as well that they were overseas or had an academic discount status. He said that he wasnt surprised that this was the case.

Soooooo.......... if you're in the States, bought a 17in C2D MBP, and are expecting it to ship today or tomorrow, it seems like they are still in line to do so. <fingers crossed>

Yikes!

Very ****ing mad

My schedule for shipping and delivery has also gone from the 7&14th to the 14&23rd...I am absolutely enraged by this!!!!!!!

What possible justification is there for this? Or reason? My first essay is due in on the 24th and I was looking forward to doing all the bones of research this week followed by typing it up on the new silver bullet next!! I am so mad right now. Can someone with more knowledge than me on the situation please explain why this has happened???

a) Some nitwit wasn't able to understand that there was a lot of us that wanted Apples first real laptop in several years. (Yea, I know that's harsh, but the tiny bumps on the G4 and a Rev A intel doesn't quite cut it for many of us) So they may have underestimated demand.

b) They lack some parts, which kinda correlates with a), since that would be a demand-issue.

c) They have run into problems in the production of this machine. I for one have not heard of ONE person that has seen a live MBP 17" C2D, which seems strange to me.

Anyway, same for me, shipping pushed from 7th to 14th..
