Funnily enough, I did think this a few weeks ago when there was all the Beats Audio talk going on.

Funny if you look at all the top people in Apple:

https://www.apple.com/uk/pr/bios/

Seems all very Old School in who they pick for the top positions does it not?

That's the problem with your entitlement mentality - executives are not "picked" - they are chosen for their qualifications.

Heaven forbid the workforce actually reflects the demographic make up of the entire population.

Just an FYI (not necessarily a reply to you), until more women and minorities major in comp sci and engineering, the candidate pool is already out of whack. It's the hiring pool that is mostly reflected in engineering workplace demographics. We can weed out the a*hole bigots, but when you only have two female resumes to 10 males, you always get the disproportionate numbers.

I have been amazed at how few female resumes I get.

I have a dream that people one day will be hired not for the color of their skin, but by the content of their resume...

I'm not saying that racism against whites is not a problem and I feel the pain of anyone of any race that goes through racism. But to say White America faces the same racist hatred as Black America is laughable. Don't compare the size of a pea to a watermelon.

Are you kidding? I live in your cherished New York City and have experienced the most insidious, rampant, scathing hatred directed against me for being White here - more than I ever experienced growing up in a ghetto near Oakland, California. There is infinitely more racist hatred directed at White people than the other way around, regardless of what opinion you might have about it.

It's silly to call for diversity when Tim Cook himself continues to hide his homossexuality. Is this the kind of example he wants to set at Apple? "Stay hidden and don't tell anyone about it"?

He's hiding it just as much as Larry Page is hiding his heterosexuality. What's the point of a CEO announcing sexual preferences? What I really want to know is much more important: Does he prefer cats or dogs?

I'm sorry but this diversity BS thats forced upon us by the political correct plague that sweeps the world is a threat to the great idea of the "best man/woman for the job gets it."

If I ever get turned down for a dreamjob with the reasoning that I was the best candidate but they couldn't hire more of my color/gender, then I would permanently stop applying for jobs and just go on welfare instead. I would not wanna partake in a workforce that is based on such a ridiculous idea.

Welcome to the world of the White male. Just be glad you didn't grow up in California (or even worse, Berkeley, like me).

They are qualified. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Guess what ? People are racist and they often like their own around them.

This is white America. Most powerful people are white. Where does that leave minorities?

That's why you have hiring laws.

Wrong. You seem to have ignored the developments in the government over the past several decades. Anyone who uses the term "racist" is usually the racist.

Agreed, but then why is race the only topic that warrants a 'diversity' report? While we're at it, it should also include wheelchair-bound employees and those with curly red hair.

I'm being facetious of course, this diversity stuff is pretty laughable to me.

Don't be silly. There is absolutely no way Apple would hire anyone with curly red hair.

He probably like Ligers... JS. I mean, who doesn't?

That's a nice viewpoint in an ideal world and one that can only ever take place if you never physically see the candidates before employing them.

Once an employer see's the person, then from that moment onward they will be swayed by appearance.

That could be positively or negatively based on their own viewpoints.

I trust you are mature enough to accept this will always be the case once you are SEEN.

They should have a question on their forms: "Do you speak fluent, clear, unbroken, comprehensible English?" "Is English your first language?"

This should also apply to people in Boston and some Southerners. :p

Agreed. I am 5'11". According to scientific research, this gives me a disadvantage when competing with people over 6" for jobs. I demand quotas for short people!!

thank you!

A Skilled Workforce is...

I agree with this, but the work place needs to give a 100% opportunity regardless of sex and ethnicity. Hire the best.

not based on diversity numbers alone.

I agree on both fronts here. I would be regarded as the minority in my work place, however if you skew the opportunity based on diversity numbers you are setting up your work environment to fail. This is a riddiculous situation to even consider.

I work harder, harder than most to be considered even though this is not fair in itself. It has made me an asset to my work place and the people I work for and with because I choose not to be a victim to it.

My mindset is, sure you want to make it difficult, then I'm getting make in phenomenally difficult for you to not hire me and considerably more difficult to not let me go once I have my foot in the door and proven myself tenfold.

About twenty years ago no matter how hard I worked, I did experience discrimination in the work place. Things have changed since then and discrimination is not to the extent it used to be. I see people of my culture and afro-caribean community who demonstrate themselves to be incredibly capable and exceptionally professional.

I think it'll take some time before the executive level will have a desired level of women. People who are 40-60 with the level of experience needed to be valuable to a company are mostly all male. This is simply the result of the time period people were brought up in. I'm all for women having more leadership, but there's just so few to choose from. The vast majority of women in that age group were funneled into traditional women roles.

You gave Dr Dre a job surely that's enough ?!! He's not even a doctor.

:D

What is he hiding? Did you ever meet the guy? It's his private life. Private. In the end, it's nobody's ********** business. Tell me, of Apple's executives, which ones do you know to be married, which ones do you know are not married, which ones don't you know; and of the ones married which ones are married to a male or a female person? And what of your business is it?

Yes, it's called discrimination, and it is akin to discernment.

Now who's being racist?
