With beta 8, things seemed better at first, but then it’s almost like the Mail app is susceptible to wear and tear - the more I use it, the buggier and less stable it becomes. It only started crashing after sending emails today (something which hasn't occurred since the early betas). I’m really flummoxed. But one thing is clear, at least for me, this has categorically been the worst/buggiest/least stable developer beta run ever - I didn’t think they could top the iOS 7 developer beta phase, but they sure managed. Well done Timmy and Co.
Oh see I haven't sent much email from the mail app, only check it. I've been running public betas now for the last couple weeks and have zero issues other than the mail thing and a couple third-party apps acting up. Otherwise to me it might as well be the public release version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Updating it to 13.1 beta now would mean we would need to setup or restore the new iPhones to iOS 13.1 beta.

Worst case scenario: 13.1 beta isn’t available for the new iPhones on launch.

It's true. My building doesn't have a 13th floor. I mean it does, it actually goes up to 17 floors. But 13 is skipped, jumps from floor 12 to floor 14. It's weird and I see it far more often than not here in the states.
A lot of buildings simply skip the number 13 when labeling floors.
Technically the 13th floor still exists, it's just relabeled as the 14th floor.
Disneyland Resort's main hotel in California does this for all three buildings.

OK so the developer site has been updated now and it is indeed 13.1 beta 1...

How will this affect the public beta? is that going to move to 13.1 too or will it stay on 13.0, potentially giving public betas that devs won't have had?

Right and my building does exactly this. There are floors that are numbered up to 17, but in reality there's really only 16 floors. It's interesting to see little things like that get woven into a society and we don't think much about them most of the time.

This GM release is going to be the worst in years. A shame because I really want dark mode.
...why? I was using the betas up to this release and had a very good experience on an XS Max. Only downgraded because there's a jailbreak pending for 12.4

according to Steve Troughton Smith, an iOS guru, iOS 13 GM is already locked in...

they're always looking to improve software but this doesn't look so good on paper to be bracing for a x.1 release already ((imo))

maybe iOS THIRTEEN will be unlucky and cursed in its shoddy QC.

Makes sense. Apple is always several betas ahead of what they release to the devs/public. They needed to lock it down a couple weeks ago in order to start production of new devices.

The lack of 13.0.1 suggests there's a LOT to be fixed with 13.0.

Haha, mine doesn’t.. I actually work on the 13th floor! Whats funny is, I get no cell service on just this floor!!

Walk up to the 14th or down to 12th and LTE is fast as f*. On the 13th, it keeps jumping from E - LTE - No Service ( ATT and TMobile Postpaid! )

I thought that in the USA particularly, there is a lot of suspicion around the number 13 (e.g. no 13th floor in some hotels) so maybe this is why?
Lol, no. If they were the case they would have skipped iOS 13 and gone to iOS 14. The USA is the same as all countries where there are always some superstitious people, but in general, it's just meant as a good plot for horror movies to make money here.

Because you are under the umbrella of the antenna signal, crazy as it is, I have seen it all over.

I rely on mail.app and can't put this crap on my phone. Way too many people still having issues with mail.app.
I've heard people talking about those issues, I've been using it and haven't seen any of those issues, maybe they only happen in certain use cases. What issues with Mail are you personally seeing in the current betas?

Doesn't look like they've pulled anything on my end. Just installed it on my phone... no issues.

Still two major problems with the iPadOS dock:
  • You still cannot rearrange icons in folders that are in your dock. It puts the icon on the home screen. You have to drag the folder onto the home screen and then move the icon back into the folder.
  • Multitasking with apps that are in folders on the dock is still broken and has been since about DB4. You used to be able to tap a folder in the dock to open it and then drag and app inside that folder for multitasking. Still broken here.

macOS made it through 13 (High Sierra) just fine. While iOS 13 isn't partially hidden by a branding name as macOS 10.13 High Sierra was, even people working in tech sometimes loose track at which number iOS is. I highly doubt the general public will care about the number.
