seems kind of lackluster considering it's a new kitty release. Disappointing considering the rumor hype.

I'm worried that a large part of the interface contains the word 'swipe'. Fine for laptop users, but we desktop folks... I tried their touch pad in the store and found it really hard to get mouse-like work done on the touchpad. I'm happy sticking with my mouse - but now they have a bunch of OS features that expect us to go trackpad....

Is this going to be another 70 quid service pack or a 30 quid one like the last one?

Am I the only one that's ridiculously excited about being able to resize windows from any of the corners?

That's always a sticking point when I train a Windows user to use their new Mac.

I don't know if I would say ridiculously excited, but I was happy to see Apple give up this attempt to be diverse. Hopefully it doesn't come at the expense of terrible and unnecessary window borders.

Does it support Trim?

With the new macbook pro out, we dont see any ssd...is it because Apple havent fully prefected it yet to increase preformance? Any thoughts?

thanks, that makes sense.

are these versions usable for an everyday OS?

i know its the first version, but can i use this on my mbp as my main OS? thanks guys!

Read the documentation (under NDA) that comes with the software, it is very clear on that point. As a hint, iPhone users who installed beta software and ran into trouble never got any sympathy from software developers whatsoever.

I figured. :)

I expect this will cost the usual $129 and, if I don't hear any horror install stories, I'll probably buy. Lots of good stuff in the new OS.

Think it will be hard not to buy it on day one and be a guinea pig to see how well it works and stable it is. Looking good!

Filevault

I see there's new Filevault. Any of you developers know if it will back up Filevault volumes in real time, or is it that retarded system currently uses where it only backs up at logout???

Looking forward to LaunchPad

I for one am looking forward to Launchpad like on iOS. Means I can consolidate down what is in my dock. Notice my dock and my folders. Some of the items in my dock cannot be grouped into a folder - as the library dependency will make the app crash if not in the Applications folder (but moved to a sub folder).

For those developers looking to download:
http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/mac/checklist/lion/index.php

It took me quite awhile of searching to actually find it, so I figured I'd better share at least. You'll need a developer log-on to get it.

Ironically the Apple Store is giving me trouble, since I was notified I'd have to renew soon, so don't expect to just sign up quick to get it. ;)

EDIT: The Apple store is back up, so join up if you wish.....

Good grief, "tried it in the store?"

Yea because that's the same. My magic trackpad is the best input device I've ever had for any iMac by a long, long way. The mouse is pathetic by comparison.

Oh boy, OPEN GL 3.2 Wow now OSX will be only 1 generation behind instead of 2.

Its about time. OpenGL performance on the Mac is pathetic. They should be supporting OpenGL 4.0, though.

OpenGL 4.0 was finished nearly a full year ago. Step it up, Apple.
