The priorities are SO misaligned in Cupertino lately that I am embarrassed for Apple myself.. Nothing like focusing on emojis when our default Apple mail push settings are not working!!! Nice job Mr. Cook

Do you really think the emojis took much time at all to implement? These are standard things...

You're so right. Because:
1. software engineers know how to update hardware
2. many people don't use Emojis
3. many people can afford $3000 desktop machines

/s

Why do people constantly have to bring up the Surface Studio, regardless of the main post? It's such a niche product, and in this case, way more niche than Emoji.

Let me guess, you're probably not going to buy the Studio, right?

Thank you, sir!!
Well put.
I abhor this lame "outrage".
It's soooooo phony.
The Pixel by Google was first to introduce this new set of emoji, yet NOBODY pissed & moaned. It got the attention it deserved- that is to say, a brief mention of a small feature in a software update.
It wasn't made out to be the only feature in the latest version of Android, or the reason they had to put a pause on Google Fiber, or blamed for the failure of Project Aria, or anything else ludicrous like people are doing here w/ Apple's minor ".2" update.

Can we at least have some more diverse emojis? The current theme is "Happy SJW Hipster Collection". They need to represent life, not their vision of a happily ever after. Heck, a bunch of my female non-tech friends (age 25-32) were even taking about it "Omg, I've upgraded to iOS10 and the gun is now a green water pistol, WTF is this ****!?!?"

Yes, but in the zero-sum game that is fund allocation, they really could *almost* just push a button to fix it: Abandon making new emojis and put that money toward real things that help consumers use their computers for actual things, like, creating the websites we all use, the movies and documentaries we all enjoy and learn from, the computer games we all play, and all the software that runs the world.

It's not like if they stopped pushing smiley faces that the money would just sit, it would inevitably be spent on better pursuits.

Jesus, do you really think Apple is "making" new emojis, lol???!!!!
There is a Unicode consortium that decided on these exact emojis months & months ago.
Apple is merely updating their set to the new standard in this update (just as Google did in their latest update).
You, and all the others... especially anyone that goes on about Apple's "emoji team" sound a bit wacky.
Do you really think anyone had to "work" on this???!
The Unicode standard is public record.
It likely took a single coder, less than a minute to insert the new set in on top of the old set.
How do you imagine coding to operate??
Someone had to chisel each new emoji out of stone, then hand deliver them to each dev running this beta?
I love iOS 10.
I think it's great.
Obviously these emojis are the SMALLEST part of it. Stop pretending like that isn't true.

My Bluetooth issues were fixed on 10.1 but Hoping this one solves my CarPlay issues, which I thought where the same but aren't.

What kind of issues are you having? I sometimes get freezing (have to disconnect and reconnect the phone for it to work again, and the music has skipped ahead, indicating that the phone thinks I can still hear the audio) and sometimes just outright disconnection and reconnection -- without my having touched the phone or radio. This is on a Kenwood DNX693S and a phone running 10.1. It's happened since 9.x and with several different Lightning cables.

Good to see Apple devoting so much ressources to emojis. Cause, you know, that's the most important thing users need right now....It's not like competitors are making Surface Studios and stuff like that...

It is quite upsetting that all 60,000+ Apple employees are working on emojis.

How do all these emojis improve my life, my effectiveness and my efficiency, for crying out loud?

It's bad enough that macOS Sierra has been the first OS update I've ever regretted doing, with the freezes I've been getting in waking up from sleep, and a few other things (only when Safari is running, I might add). This past week's MacBook Pro Retina release (I have a late 2014 MBPr top of the line) was 'meh' on missing ports and the extra $500. I've half a mind(!) to go the Hackintosh route for a while...

Why people bother to come on MR just to b*tch, complain, and just bring negativity is annoying as hell. Show them where it hurts....with your wallets. Don't like the products? Buy something else which offers more to your liking. Don't like software updates? Go to Android where your phone carrier dictates when you get updates.

**You all also do realize that the emojis are accepted/updated by a Unicode Consortium right? Apple just adds them to align with the Unicode 9....but I assume you'd complain and cry about it anyway***
Preach!

I'm not seeing the new wallpapers on my iPhone 6 Plus. Are these new wallpapers exclusive to certain devices? I'm guessing it's maybe only for 6S and above only?
It is for 7 only.

You do realize people can "b*tch, complain, and just bring negativity" as much as they like, this is a free society. Also you don't have to read those specific responses.
Unless you specifically don't live in a free society then your complaint is valid.
Or his conplain comments like this one you reply would not even be allowed to exist, if he is not living in a free society.

It would be great to be able to come on here and look at the changes that have been made, the issues that still exist and what others are experiencing without 6 pages of literally mind-numbing comments about emojis... Macrumours should start a new forum where you can all moan about nonsensical stuff together... *awaits the inevitable trolling.

In other news, actually useful information:

Apple Music issues:
Still got an invisible button for deleting music (once the + or iCloud logo has been clicked) there is a blank space. Tapping that asks you to delete music.

Still no way of deleting up next entirely - can you do this with force touch, I'm on a 6 Plus.

I actually lost all access to my iCloud music. It kept saying iCloud music library not available please try later. It meant I had no music on my phone even though clicking storage and music in the general settings showed I had over 50gb on there. Connecting to iTunes through my Mac but not actioning anything seemed to fix the issue.

Home Screen:
Even after months of this new unlocking method, and rest finger to unlock, I still miss slide to unlock. 5 years of habit is going to be hard to break and when your finger is wet, it is a hell of a lot slower to wait for the number pad to come up rather than swipe and enter. It's mind-boggling they did this.

Messages:
Still a big lag between white box and reply box appearing, often a quick reply will send and the screen disappear. Upon actually opening the app the message hasn't sent.

All of these have been reported to Apple as I'm sure they have by many of you and all continue to be addressed.

It does feel snappier and faster than ever however.

I wonder how Apple can not feel the cynicism of so many Apple fans who love the company and are growing more cynical day by day. Is it because they just don't care or is it because they have become too involved in their own world?

wiping one's posterior with a fresh crisp hundo every time has a certain reality-distorting effect to it.

Well, with the direction I see apple is going, I am propably out of the loop. I am not into emojis, apple watch, touchbars, siri, in app purchases (EVERYWHERE) friggin apple music, itunes, adapters, no more drag and drop from photo app, and others, and the little thinner than the little thinner than last year thin desktop, laptops and iphones.. They are focusing on all the nonimportant things that noone really asked for.

My god what happen to Apple and the products I loved and used... I dont see myself buyin more apple stuff anymore, theres nothing new that benefits my music production at all.

I will not continue to update my appleproducts anymore cause theres nothing I use or need in the updates. Now I hope that my macpro will last for many many years. The more money that came to apple - the more they lost the creativity, the think different, and innovation. Its all very very sad..
Your whole 1st paragraph just described what you said they are missing. What you want the clear green iMAC back and the iPod classic?

Thank goodness, I thought it was just me who was having a hard time getting used to the new unlocking method. I don't have a problem getting into my S7Edge but when I use my iPhone SE I'm just used to swipe to unlock since my prints don't always work after I've done a lot of yard or housework and had to wash my hands several times.

I actually stopped using iMessage shortly after iOS 10 came out. I found it too busy and since I split my time between iOS and Android now I switched to WhatsApp.

Noticed a small addition -- a new Bluetooth icon on top right of home screen.

I am sure that the team enabling Unicode Emoji is the EXACT SAME TEAM that would do the industrial design and engineering needed to develop a Surface Studio competitor.

Yeah, Apple only has one employee and they either work on emojis or they work on everything else...

If you need more emojis that a "smiley face" and a "sad face"; you clearly need to spend more time brushing up on your english than regressing to a time of hieroglyphics.

The raise to wake with my finger on the home button is awesome. And I'm finding that our family is using the latest addition to iMessage features frequently, like the new "like" function. Swipe unlock is so "yesterday " lol.
