Sure. Though I think we can both agree that the "Emoji Team" is probably capable of putting out twice the amount of work that the hardware team does, even if they aren't earmarking talent in the appropriate areas. Thus we get these superfluous emoji updates more often than new MacBooks, iMacs, etc.

The emoji team is probably capable of putting out 100x more work than other teams, because emojis are basic icons that appeal to juveniles and serve no function to the greater good. In fact, I would argue they actually result in a net negative on society, further eroding our youth's ability to communicate like functioning adults.

No matter how much of the pie the smileys get, it is simply too much. Sure, if they had an up to date, functioning and coherent product line, I imagine we wouldn't be hearing nearly the amount of complaints we are- But are you really going to try to tell us that this is the case?

Apple is spending so much time on crap stuff like new Emojis instead of serious bug fixing like the Bluetooth auto sync so many have complained about or the delays/hangs when launching the Dialer App or Contacts App.

You do realize that they can't just press a button to fix it right?

Yes, but in the zero-sum game that is fund allocation, they really could *almost* just push a button to fix it: Abandon making new emojis and put that money toward real things that help consumers use their computers for actual things, like, creating the websites we all use, the movies and documentaries we all enjoy and learn from, the computer games we all play, and all the software that runs the world.

It's not like if they stopped pushing smiley faces that the money would just sit, it would inevitably be spent on better pursuits.

I may not be typical, but when an all Apple user since 1984 (Incl. real duds in all these years) checks out hackintoshes and writes more negative posts than: "let's give things a chance and be patient", something is definitely wrong.
I may not have been using Apple kit as long as you but I have been in the Hardware and Software business for more han 40 years.
I too am looking at building a powerful Hackintosh desktop (2x 4K screens) for my Photo and Video Editing. Apple currently has nothing there for me to use that even remotely attracts me or can afford.
Instead of replacing my MBP, that's what I'll be doing.
As for emoji's? Well, the one that describes me is not yet ratified :dino:

I'm having fun with the new features and emoji's but trying to get everyone I know to install the Beta as well to use it with them, pointless if they don't have.

So you think the new emojis are in the critical path for getting work done that you personally want done?

When the majority of their real computer line is stagnant, monitors silently discontinued, and their connections standards a complete and utter mess, I can't help but think that.

Do you think that if they didn't bother with emojis they wouldn't have more resources to put toward other things that help people compute, rather than tweens text? Logic dictates they would.

I think the idea is that content creators kind of feel like they've been left in the dust. I'm not a content creator so I can only go by what I hear and read. But it's a relatively common complaint right now.

My focus is iPhone since that is my daily driver; and no My opinion is that emojis are not on the critical path and will argue for some they important as other items are too you.

It seems like with a company like Apple there are plenty of resources that could be applied to pretty much anything that they would want to focus on. It seems that what "logic" dictates somewhat more is that it's not likely a limitation of resources or anything of the sort.

Why people bother to come on MR just to b*tch, complain, and just bring negativity is annoying as hell. Show them where it hurts....with your wallets. Don't like the products? Buy something else which offers more to your liking. Don't like software updates? Go to Android where your phone carrier dictates when you get updates.

**You all also do realize that the emojis are accepted/updated by a Unicode Consortium right? Apple just adds them to align with the Unicode 9....but I assume you'd complain and cry about it anyway***

i'm sick of the bitching and bickering.

I agree with you. I was simply making the argument - regardless of how long the Mac line is taking - that Apple or any company will not stop other departments from working only to divert the entire company attention to a task because their users aren't happy.

Sure, Tim may set some stringent deadlines for certain departments, but it is silly to me to think that Tim would stop the iOS software updates because me and millions of others want a better product line. There are still millions of others that don't care and would much rather have emojis than a new iMac. Departments must go on.

That being said, I am one of the upset users. At best, their product line is lackluster. But for those who can't wait on Apple to get their act together, their are those beautiful Surface Studios that seem to be putting a sparkle in a lot of people's eyes.

Good to see Apple devoting so much ressources to emojis. Cause, you know, that's the most important thing users need right now....It's not like competitors are making Surface Studios and stuff like that...

The priorities are SO misaligned in Cupertino lately that I am embarrassed for Apple myself.. Nothing like focusing on emojis when our default Apple mail push settings are not working!!! Nice job Mr. Cook

It's not like a ton of other things are actually part of iOS 10.2 beta 1 already aside from one of the smaller changes (the emoji updates).
