Ok, updating now, I know, I didn't learn my lesson when 10 first came out and I tried to upgrade my 6s+. Anyway, first apple Logo has popped up. Anyway, what I don't get, is why are people so lazy to read what is in the update. Half the posts here are asking if a bug was fixed, music star rating fixed, etc. Why don't you read the release notes, it tells you everything. Why should anyone have to repost it, when it's on your phone and even in the OP. Anyway, done ranting about the lazy people. But for those who were too lazy not to read the OP, here is the list again, my guess, is you will still be too lazy to read everything

Messages
- New option to replay bubble and full screen effects

unedited pic from oct 15th, phone was on 10.0.2, from a meal we had out camping. clearly showing the portrait mode in effect. after seeing it we played around with headshots of the kids with the same effects (not posting pics of my kids).

That is depth of field, not portrait. Portrait would have blurred way more in the background.

I just made a note of the event, I haven't whined about these anywhere on the forums but I thought people who were bugged by the bug would like to know.

Everyone is aware it isn't fixed because there are literally hundreds of other threads relating to this issue.

I bet you are new here, there are always unofficial bugs that Apple sometimes fix in silence...

Installed via OTA to both my 12.9" iPad Pro, and my iPhone 7 Plus.

No issues whatsoever with the install.

Pretty much any camera can achieve this effect. The closer you are to the subject you are focused on, the more out of focus the background will appear. You're very close to the subject here, which is why the background is moderately out of focus.

Portrait mode in iOS 10.1 aims to make this effect more pronounced by combining the image from both cameras and running them through some special algorithms. Cameras with small sensors and wide-angled lenses like the iPhone struggle to get an effect like this, but cameras with big sensors - like a full frame DSLR - can achieve this effect with ease. Apple's aim is to be able to achieve an effect normally only achievable with a DSLR (or mirrorless camera) in a phone camera.

Still no Mark as Unread / Flag marker in Messages. Please tell me I'm not the only one who needs a visual reminder to respond to text messages I read and then cleared the notification for?
I've been waiting for this too...

Can someone please confirm if this is the same build as beta 5? I'm seeing it on my iPad Pro but not on my iPhone 7 Plus.

Been running since beta 2. Portrait is work in progress but I hope they get it dialed in soon

Updated my 7 Plus, Pro 9.7 and my moms 6s with no issues at all that I can see.

Portrait mode looks pretty cool. Gonna try it out tonight and see if it works in all lighting conditions.

Was your iPad Pro on the latest beta also? Mine was, and I still was able to update to the official release of 10.1. It just updated itself to the same build number that was in the beta though.

When is the 10.2 beta comin out with a fix for the animations on iPhone 7/7+?

animation bugs still there
eg double clicking to show all apps

I mean, this is such a critical bug that it affects the whole OS and how you use it on a daily basis.
- It actually does affect how you use it on a daily basis. It's very jarring and affects the user experience every single time you press the Home button.
Really expected 10.1 to fix things.

The multitasking animation error can be "fixed" by lowering the speed of double clicks in Accessibility, but it comes at the cost of a less responsive single click since it has to wait longer before it knows you aren't double clicking.
I'm not aware that anything can be done to fix the app exiting animation.

Does anyone know if this fixes the camera bump in the back? Also, does it change the lightning port to USB-C finally?

I love my iPhone and all, but can't stand that the camera sticks out and I can't use my MacBook cord to charge my iPhone /s
Apple sell a usb type c to lightning cable for £25 for this purpose. And the reason they didn't use Type c in iPhone 7 is because hardly anybody even knows what it is. When type c is on the cusp of being mainstream, then maybe they'll make the change.

As for the camera bump, it's not that big an issue. We've had camera bumps for 3 years now. I quite like the design choice on my 7 plus. It brings attention to the dual lens system.
