iOS 11 is a **** show in terms of bugs. Also, the UI for the iPhone X really needs an overhaul because those lines underneath control center aren't aesthetically pleasing either. Couldn't Apple just have used virtual buttons like Android does? Would've been much more simpler than using gestures.

A few observations from an iPhone X 634gb space grey user:

1) Haptics that I thought used to be there when open and closing notifications center are not there now
2) The loud and annoying clicking haptic with closing control center doesn't happen all the time...,maybe 50% and only when you swipe from the bottom bar. If you swipe up elsewhere or just tap to exit, I do not get a haptic. The system haptics seem a bit erratic now. Hope the really hard haptic doesn't damage anything.
3) Animation issues when swiping to erase mail or opening the first message seem to be fixed
4) My Samsung standard speed charger still charges. My Mophi fast charger definitely seems faster now, as I'd expect
5) No apple pay at all for me
6) weather widget seems fine. Maybe this only affected those who were on a 11.2 beta?
7) The bar icon on the lock screen to indication the control center is stupid.

What are you talking about? What lines?

So no Apple Pay Cash until early next week. Great, I almost missed that last little paragraph.

Update: We're seeing several reports that Apple Pay Cash is not available in the release version of iOS 11.2. Given that this update was released at an unusual time, it may not be activated as of yet. It's likely we'll see Apple Pay Cash become available early next week.

Still no Apple Pay cash in messages. Any one got this working? Don't have the card in wallet either. Thanks.

I find the line in the right ear on the X a frustrating addition of clutter. If people are having a hard time finding control center it's because Apple designed the X interface in an inconsistent matter with the rest of the iPhone models. The line is at best a band-aid to a larger iOS GUI design issue which shouldn't have been an issue at all. Placing control center up there is odd (because of the inconsistency) and inconvenient.

The line just distracts and almost looks like it's a defect -- dead pixels. The original bottom line isn't great but at least it's a bit hidden. My personal feeling is if you need a cue to tell you how to use the GUI then that GUI is poorly designed. A GUI -- esp. an Apple GUI -- should be intuitive or at least only a slight learning curve. But I'm pretty sure X users can memorize where it is without the line cue. I wish Apple incorporated a "advanced user" mode where both of these cues could be disabled. After 5 minuets using a X they really are superfluous.

Edit: just finished updating my X. The control center "cue" line showed up briefly but now is non-existent. Not sure if that is normal but happy it's not persistent, at least on mine.

Apple Pay Cash isn't something I will really use tbh.

It's a little line underneath control center to guide people to open up control center. Another line is to show how to go back home. A simple little square would've been better like how Samsung does it.

Genuine “Thank you” to all you production release beta testers out there.

I hope your bugs/issues/etc get fixed fast.

It’s a friggin shame that Apple users in production land have to be basically beta testers these days.

Thanks again,
An iOS 11.1 user.

The issue is a wild, increasing myriad of gestures across different iPhones now - that effectively kills UI consistency and intuitiveness.
Apparently the "quick and easy" way is to repair that with indicators, user manuals, and other stuff indicating that they blew it (as Steve would have said)

...and it will only get worse since people just keep buying the things anyway!

Here is my experience so far. I’m on an iPhone X and never used any of the betas, so I’ve upgraded from 11.1.2 to 11.2. ApplePay Cash is not active even though I’m in the US. I don’t have the unusual haptic feedback when I close the control center or when returning home. Wireless charging is working, as I’ve gone from less than 60% to 100% since updating. The home “bar” does seem to be more prominent in both optimized and non-optimized apps.

I, for one, am impressed that Apple acted so swiftly to squelch the date bug and was innovative in using the GM of 11.2 which was waiting in the wings rather than an 11.1.3 update, and feel they should be complimented for acting so quickly. In all likelihood, this is why ApplePay Cash is not available at the moment, but should be expected early next week per their original schedule.

Ok, this is odd, but the clicking haptic when closing the control center has not become a regular haptic...just on its own it seems to have stopped the clicking and feels like any other haptic now.

Edit: might have been because I was attached to a BT speaker and it actually is coming from the speaker? now that I have disconnected from the speaker the haptic is gone completely....

Ok, after reboot its back as the clicking haptic. So maybe the clock is from the speaker. Either way it's just dumb and erratic

Anyone notice a performance change? My family members iPhone 6 is freaking slow on iOS 11, wondering if I should recommend them to upgrade.

My other half 6 plus was painfully slow. She upgraded to an 8 today.

Considering apple bang on about (allegedly) how much faster and generations ahead of the competition their chips are, its either piss poor programming or clearly planned obsolescence as the lag, app switcher and general use speed was awful on the 6 plus. Her new 8, surprise surprise, is lovely and speedy.

A major release, on a Friday night?!? One day after b6 release? Not exactly confidence instilling As many have mentioned

I understand wanting to beat the race for the Dec2 bug, but how many people will update THE SECOND a new update is out and follow MR/software update very closely?

Now we’re all beta testers for newer final versions

...Meanwhile at Cupertino:

It’s an odd time for a release but my iPhone SE is noticeably faster after the update. No, it isn’t because of a reboot or anything.

Ugh... still no Apple Pay.

“ApplePay through iMessage coming to iOS 11!*”

*ApplePay through iMessage will be available through a future iOS 11 update.

“ApplePay through iMessage now available in iOS 11.2!*”

*ApplePay through iMessage will be activated at a later time.

Apple today released iOS 11.2, the second major update to the iOS 11 operating system available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 11.2 comes a month after iOS 11.1, the first major update to iOS 11, and it follows several other smaller bug fix updates.

The iOS 11.2 update is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings --> General --> Software Update. Eligible devices include the iPhone 5s and later, the iPad mini 2 and later, the iPad Air and later, and the 6th-generation iPod touch.

iOS 11.2, as a major 11.x update, brings several new features and important bug fixes. It introduces Apple Pay Cash, Apple's peer-to-peer payments service. Apple Pay Cash works through the Messages app and is designed to allow for quick person-to-person money transfers, like Square Cash or Venmo.

You can quickly and easily send and receive money through iMessage conversations with Apple Pay Cash. Cash is sent from a linked debit or credit card, while received cash is stored in an Apple Pay Cash card in the Wallet app and can be used for purchases or transferred to a bank account. For more on Apple Pay Cash, check out our how to.

For the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus iOS 11.2 appears to introduce faster 7.5W wireless charging speeds through compatible Qi-based wireless charging accessories. At 7.5W charging speeds, the three new iPhones are able to charge faster wirelessly than with the standard 5W wired iPhone power adapter.

When it comes to the iPhone X interface, iOS 11.2 adds a small bar underneath the status bar icons located at the upper right side of the Lock screen, which is designed to make the location of the Control Center gesture more clear. On the iPhone X, Control Center is accessed by swiping down from the top of the device.

In Control Center on all devices, there are two new informational pop-ups that are displayed when using the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth toggles. These pop-ups explain that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are disabled temporarily rather than permanently when accessed from the Control Center.

iOS 11.2 introduces a new Sports section in the dedicated TV app, which offers up access to live sports games through integration with the ESPN app. The Sports app can be accessed through a new "Sports" tab at the bottom of the app, and it offers up custom content based on team preferences and current sports seasons.

There are multiple bug fixes in the update, including a fix for an animation bug in the Calculator app that caused some numbers and symbols to be ignored when entered in rapid succession. The update removes the animations from the calculator app so calculations can be done quickly with no need to pause between entering numbers to obtain the correct result.

The update also addresses a date bug that caused continual crashing in iOS 11.1.2 after December 2. The problem was linked to local notifications, and according to a support document, it is fixed in iOS 11.2. iPhone and iPad users experiencing this bug should turn off notifications and then install iOS 11.2.

Other new features in iOS 11.2 include redesigned camera emojis and other emoji tweaks, a new loading animation for Live Photos effects, and Live wallpapers for the iPhone X. For developers, the update introduces a new feature that allows them to offer new customers discounted introductory pricing for auto-renewable subscriptions in the App Store. Full release notes for the update are available below:For more details on the iOS 11 operating system, make sure to check out our dedicated roundup.

Update: We're seeing several reports that Apple Pay Cash is not available in the release version of iOS 11.2. Given that this update was released at an unusual time, it may not be activated as of yet. It's likely we'll see Apple Pay Cash become available early next week.

[doublepost=1512226198][/doublepost]Hey Apple, where is the 11.2 upgrade for xCode 9?

Be careful updating to iOS 11.2 if you are an app developer. As of about 9:40 AM EST, there is no new version of Xcode on the Mac App Store and the current version (Xcode 9.1) won't let me run an app on my iPhone that I just updated to 11.2.

This is the error that I get:
Could not locate device support files.
This iPhone 8 (Model A1863, A1905, A1906, A1907) is running iOS 11.2 (15C114), which may not be supported by this version of Xcode.

Hopefully, the newest version of Xcode appears soon. I should've remembered to check for a new Xcode version prior to updating. The beta likely works fine.
