We've all basically got the same devices. Apple is a controlling company to say the least and have complete control over components, drivers, the kernel of the operating system-which is called upon to do everything.
Therefore, I find it really strange that some people seem to have loads of problems and others don't.
You would think with such a tightly integrated system it either worked for everyone or didn't work for everyone.
Loads of people complaining here and the majority also complaining it didn't work in the beta. Most people are not beta testers and most people don't have loads of problem. There must be something in the software for some interacting and messing things up it's just too rigorous a system.
5 devices here updated without a problem. That's 6S, SE(2) XS,XSMax.
I just don't believe the majority of people have problems.

Another day another iOS update. Is there any need to present a new major os release every year? New macOS, new problems, new iOS, new problems, new iPadOS ...

Slow down, Apple. Prepare good and stable updates and release em when they are ready - not cause it is time to market. Don‘t kill open standards like openGL but deliver the best experience compared to other platforms. Don‘t kill 32 Bit Apps just because you can - implement a cool way to continue running 32 bit apps . think different!

Because I am not sure what blaming Apple accomplishes

Makes them do a better job in the future?

I don’t think Apple intended for there to be so many problems either, but this is precisely the reality when consumers expect a significantly different experience every year

Au contraire...last year went smoothly. So I expected the SAME experience. Instead we got a different one.

This is precisely what I love about being in the Apple ecosystem and I will happily continue to install as many updates as Apple puts out

That sounds like blind allegiance.

I chose to manually upgrade so I am responsible for the buggy update being on my iPhone. Being that I willingly installed the update, I am mature enough to know that I am at fault if the phone no longer operates

Oh boy. 🙄

I wonder if you would say that if a contractor screwed up your home remodel. Or if an auto mechanic screwed up your car when you took it in for an oil change. “Oh that was my fault...not the fault of the people that actually messed things up”. Wow.

I wonder what your position is on my ATV since it updated itself overriding the auto update control which I had set to off? I suppose that is still my fault too.

I feel you’re missing a very important point here. The key thought here is “my property”. The operating system on our iPhones is not our property. Apple owns the software. Are you grasping at straws in order to devalue my statement?

Well, see, Apple now considers itself an entertainment company - and they've taken to heart the common Hollywood phrase "We'll fix it in Post". 😁

Thrill/Fear, It is all entertainment.
"Dinner Theater" got me thru many visits home.

No, I am pointing out how you are making excuses. It’s not the fault of the user if their software upgrade bricks their device or works worse in some way. They weren’t the one’s writing the code.

you must also love buying things at full price just to find out later it's broken and wait for the manufacturer to fix it for you repeatedly. Please stop defending this foolishness. They should've never released 13 until it was ready.
I have had no issues with iOS 13. I ran every beta, starting at beta 1. Never had anything "broken". But nah, I don't like buying broken things. Who would?!
[automerge]1571248159[/automerge]
Tell that to the people who just spent $700-1500 on phones that in many cases just don't work.
Luckily Apple has good customer service for the few that encountered an issue.

Ah, yes, that makes it all easier doesn’t it? Taking a possibility for self-improvement and intentionally placing it outside your reach? This alleviates you of the effort involved in growing, learning and moving on. Have you ever considered that your mind may be working against you?

and how much more complaining is required to have these issues magically resolved? And please don’t delude yourself into thinking that Apple monitor these forums to be made aware of issues that users are facing. For all Apple knows there are only two or three users in this thread, each having made several forum accounts in order to make their issue seem larger than it actually is so that someone will give it priority.

complaining on these forums solves nothing, your time is better spent working to find a workaround to an issue.

I wish you well and hope your day improves.

iPhone 11 Pro Max wireless charging (on any of 3 third party chargers) stopped two days ago. IOS 13.1.3 fixes that issue; saving a support call about it. There is a story suggesting Apple slows fast charging in devices not sold in their stores; but that's not the same as stopping it altogether. Does anyone know 'why' the charging quit? Hoping now it keeps working.

Tell that to Apple. They are the ones who need to improve, make effort and learn. The last sentence was just nonsense.

Then why are you complaining about other people complaining about Apple? 😂

And really, do you think I only complain here? Do you think I haven’t turned in bug reports to Apple? Come on. And why should I have to find a “workaround” for problems. How about Apple just release stable code instead? What a concept.

Stop user-shaming people. It’s not our fault that Apple software is released buggy.

I had refused to download the first few incarnations of 13 due to reported issues. Now I’m seeing emails come through but I can’t get the content. I know there’s been an issue in the last two days but it’s supposedly resolved and I didn’t have a problem till I upgraded and my old iPad is still getting emails. Not happy, Apple.

How can anyone consider this to be anything more than a minor annoyance?
A minor annoyance? How about an app that functions as it should? Not only does the email not show up, sometimes when it’s clicks suddenly you’re in that mailbox’s inbox and then you have to navigate back to the collect all mailbox.

I seriously can’t believe anybody being an apologist for something like this. ‘Oh, so what one of the main iOS apps doesn’t function as it should. Suck it up and deal with it.’

Maybe not everybody is affected by the same type of issue. Seems fairly standard the way these upgrades go.

My phone still won’t ring or chime for incoming calls or texts even after installing the 13.1.3 update!

Makes them do a better job in the future?

Everyone uses this same reason to justify their complaints, but whenever this happens, I have this visual image of several people waiting for the elevator to come, and it’s taking a little longer than it normally should.

Most people are patient and understanding and don’t mind waiting a little longer, because they are not in a hurry to go anywhere. However, there’s this one or two impatient passengers who start “tsk-ing”, pressing the lift button repeatedly (despite knowing that it does nothing to speed up the process) and start griping to everyone around them.

It’s understandable that when this sort of delays happen, some users will naturally feel impatient or upset. However, the complaints and gripes they make are not going to reach the people who need to hear them the most (the management wouldn’t be amongst the people waiting for the lift), and it just serves to make the surrounding passengers more annoyed than they otherwise would be.

To put it bluntly, they are not only not doing anything to help the current situation, but also make things worse by just making the whole environment that much more tense and acerbic.

And when this happens, I don’t blame the building management for not maintaining the lift properly. I blame the “messenger” for irritating me. If I want to send feedback, there are many proper channels to do so, and none involve what was just done earlier on.

So think long and hard - is raising a stink at Macrumours really the best way of getting the attention of Apple’s management and encouraging them to improve their development processes? Or do you really just want to vent?

There’s a difference. No shame in letting off some steam when you are upset, just be cognisant that this really all that will be achieved.

I noticed that happening pretty regularly, but not since I installed the latest 13.2 beta yesterday. I'll keep an eye on it but so far it looks fixed.

I always clean install my devices & Macs with a major new update and I never ever experience anything other than flawless operation.
I have NEVER done a "clean install" and have never experienced problems with an upgrade that could definitively be shown to be caused by of installing over a previous version.

The "clean install" hysteria appears to be an old wives tale. ;)

(I'll wait for the meltddown)
