I live in a remote area too and have to use this work around. It's 2020 we should be able to update with confirmation over cellular just as we do with large apps.

Connect your iPhone to your Mac via usb cable and turn on hotspot on your iPhone under settings and then go to your Mac and click on the Apple logo / system preferences / sharing / choose internet sharing and share your iPhone usb hotspot connection to the WiFi and turn it on by checking it. Then go to your iPhone and choose the shared WiFi from your Mac and you'll be able to update over WiFi.

A ghetto hack that works is not a ghetto.

well playing around with widgets nuked almost all my folders. Don’t try this at home. Too much a pain to recreate the folders right. I had everything pretty organized.

Does anyone know of a Digital Clock or a “Flip Clock” widget that can be added to the Home Screen? Apple only provides an analogue clock, which is not helpful.

Does anyone notice the haptic feedback feels weaker but now has a pop sound?

if they really wanted to spy on you secretly they wouldn’t even bother displaying a switch to begin with. It could just be embedded in the code without any user-facing controls.
Besides, just follow the money. If it were grabbing personal data, then so many governments wouldn’t have complained that it didn’t collect personal data.

So, what is the consensus, should I upgrade to iOS 14 now, or wait until 14.1 or 14.0.1, or whatever .X release that eventually patches all of the bugs that are in this hurried main numbered release?

I am in no hurry to get these new features. I am more concerned about stability, especially on my iPhone. So, if you guys think that iOS 14 is full of bugs and isn't stable at all or battery life isn't optimized, I won't upgrade.

Thanks for the answers all!

IMO, I’d wait for 14.0.1. A lot of apps aren’t ready, and there are essentially no useful widgets. If you use the “Zoom” setting for the Home Screen, some apps won’t load in “Zoom” size (ex: Instagram).

Oh great, now my iOS14 phone does not show up in iTunes anymore (yes, I am behind with my MacOS and still have iTunes, but somehow I am not offered a macos update, running 10.13.6 on a mid 2014 macbook pro retina)

Which means I cannot transfer any files like my music on Vox nor VLC for movies ... thanks Apple

6+ hours into an iPhone Pro Max and iPad Pro update... bricked both devices. Dunno what to say. Hard reset not making any difference either.

Has anyone else experienced this?
That's crazy. Hope it doesn't happen to my phone. It hasn't yet been 6 hours for me, maybe just 2-3.

Did they get rid of the "up next" widget? I used that all the time.. what the hell...

The App Library is a travesty. Supposedly the point is to clean up the home screen, but instead it duplicates all your downloaded apps and throws them in default folders you have no control over. Did nobody in that meeting consider the possibility that not all users are app whores - that some of us only keep the apps we use regularly in neatly organized folders that work just fine for us? At the very least, allow us to turn off App Library!

I toggled off “App Clips” and now the option in the menu is gone. The icon disappeared. I even had Siri search for it and she directed me to the App Store for an app called “clips” but that’s not what I wanted. I even tried searching for it using the search function on the iPhone and it’s gone.

Anyone have any ideas?
