For phones that could run 16, there’s an option to choose which iOS version you want to download and install. It was weird.

one phone down...one to go...only issues I can see is that there is a service update in the App Store...won't update the apps because when you hit agree...it says there's an issue. Not sure how to fix this...

So you have this problem, but you are still on iOS 15? If so, it is related to the servers, not to iOS 16.

Not necessarily. I pointed out that I wasn’t on 16 yet. Perhaps as people report in, it could be only those NOT on 16. That’s why I noted it.

I'm not sure about that, but updating from the iPhone's settings rather than the Mac doesn't show firmware being updated...

now i'm curious…there's gotta be a way to update the firmware at some point without a mac though…especially as apple as been trying to lessen the need for a computer with an iPhone, iPhone with a watch, etc

I do it because I am returning in my previous iPhone 13 Pro to Apple (iUP) and want my data sync to be Apples to Apples.

Downloaded 15.7 for an SE 1, but the verification fails, and I can't get it to redownload (to a MacBook) the update. It just keeps wanting to reverify the "bad" copy. I think that's what's going on. I'm on Catalina with the Finder/BadApps version of iTunes. Where is the downloaded file saved? I'll whack it and try again. Thanks!

I toggled between WiFi's and went from hours to minutes - for what it's worth.

This worked for me. Went from 22 hours to 2 minutes.

this thread gives me flashbacks to trying to update my iPod touch to iOS 6 on crappy school wifi lol…it did not go well
