So--- has anyone else updated their phone and it just hangs at the end of the progress bar with the apple logo? It's been like 20 minutes. Im getting nervous.
Haven't tried yet here but please keep us updated if your install is eventually successful?

May hold off a day or two.

You listed four different models, but there may be reasons why the same model gets different sizes, due to different settings and different (un)installed/used apps.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. BigMcGuire posted that his Air was 12.79 GB, but, my Air was only about 2.6GB. I get what you are saying with apps, but, almost 10GB difference? I also have Apple Intelligence enabled.

Ah, I see. Well, I can only speculate, but another factor is which exact version you’re upgrading from (beta, .0.1, whatever). Personally these differences isn’t something I would worry about at all. Devices rarely have identical configurations (that’s also why many reported bugs only happen to some users, not to everyone), and Apple likely is trying to optimize what needs to be downloaded for each individual device.

About 75% of the time since iOS 26 I get a "I cannot connect to your phone" from my HomePods. Made them all mostly worthless. Hopefully this fixes.

What model are you using? Worried about starting update on 17PM if that seems to have most issues during install.

Anyone tried wired CarPlay with a 17 device yet? I'd like to consider that a fairly crucial fix/flaw since since it freezes and hangs consistently when driving requiring you to plug and unplug (sometimes) and other times a full vehicle restart to get it working again. I'm actually shocked this hasn't gotten more vocal press and publicity that carplay if you're wired is basically useless if you have a 17 device.

I've had numerous issues with my iPhone Air connecting to my 2025 Honda Passport... I usually have the disconnect and re-connect it at least once a day. It's very finicky on the connection. When I updated my previous iPhone 14 to iOS 26 before my Air purchase I had none of these issues. I sure hope this update helps.

Can someone please tell me why MacRumors obsess over file sizes of updates? Most will have unlimited data plans and if the size of the update is a major problem then you should be clearing out unused files/data or upgrading to a larger capacity device.

Hopefully this fixes the battery issues on my phone. I don't know how prevalent battery issues are in 26 though, so it might just be me. When I am using it, I can almost watch the battery percentage drop.

Because you're screwed if you have your storage used up with onboard music or photos/files.

Having iOS run up against storage limitations is a NIGHTMARE.
