Apple's wording is very tricky. Their description says Wi-Fi Sync is Mac-only, and for OS X 10.6.8 to Lion. Testing confirms Wi-Fi Sync is unavailable in iTunes 10.5 Beta 2 for PC, version 10.5.0.43 x64. Am I missing something here?

Webapps, apps that require server processes to run on a host computer (Mobile Air Mouse, for example), iTunes in the Cloud, etc.

Entirely misses the point. Even if you are writing apps that can interface with windows processes, you are still developing for iOS and you still must have a mac. The one thing Apple can count on is that every bona fide iOS developer has a mac, and therefore they are focussing their resources right now on the mac version of iTunes.

Please don't repeat what I already know, I was answering a simple question which you asked.
The only reason Apple is releasing Windows versions of iTunes is for compatibility, to tap the giant market of Windows to convert into Macs. In order to do this, they must guarantee the features are equal on both the Mac and Windows versions. How can they do this when there already is a key feature missing from the Windows version?

Are you intentionally missing the point? The "key feature" is "missing" only for the moment. There is no point in releasing this feature now because the point of these releases is to allow developers to test their stuff, not to test the windows version of itunes. Since all developers have macs, testing on mac is sufficient for now.

Then why release the Windows version at all? In your point of view, there is absolutely no reason to release it for Windows, when they obviously do.

Allowing some testing is better than none. As I said, it's just not a high priority for them right now. Chill out - there will be wireless sync on windows itunes by the time iOS 5 is released.

Your point of view has absolutely no testing needed on PC's.
Argument aside, no I will not relax, I need to know whether or not iOS 5 plays nice with Windows, and that's not possible until the next beta is released, which should be 3 weeks from now.

looks like more unfinished business than beta 1

1) calendar not working on iPad

2) while synching the device it is allowing iPhone 4/ipad to allow use, earlier there will be cancel sync to unlock - not sure whether this is a feature or not

3) second iPad sync forever struck on the 7th step not sure why

It is not uncommon for Apple to leave features out of Beta releases of iTunes on Windows. It has happened before, and likely will going forward.

Most true developers are aware of that fact.

If you are an actual developer I suggest you read the developer documentation - your answer is there.

It would appear (thankfully) that the maps app is now more responsive and less crash prone as well as the routes are now more thickly highlighted blue compared to beta 1.

Reminders still appears to be buggy as hell.

Wi-Fi Sync = AWESOME.

Scrolling up in messages to hide the keyboard (why did this take so long to implement?!)

Netflix, Splashtop Remote do not work properly.

Oh and you can actually slide the notification sliders on the lock screen without using a well trained index finger (I didn't know I had fat fingers)?

+1 to that! I thought I was going to have to give up my beloved survivor case to actually *use* the notification sliders. All better now! :)

Dude. Stop it before you start looking like a troll. You obviously are not a software developer so let me explain how software development works.

Apple has a QA department (quality assurance) with QA engineers who are obviously testing each build of iTunes for windows and OS X long before the beta build even reaches the developers.

As others have explained, because the iOS SDK is OS X only, there is no need to release a beta to the general iOS developer community and the primary feature set for this release of iTunes is to support iOS 5 so if it works with windows right now then it should work with windows in the future.

Basic functionality and integration with windows is going to be tested by the QA engineers at Apple so you can rest assured.
