Mine when I clicked the button on Beta 1 just said no updates availible.

oh weird, whenever I tried it, even when on wi-fi I would get a message saying that wifi wasn't available or that it was too slow.

Did you do a clean install, or restore from backup? I heard others had problems with a restore, but with my clean install, I had NO battery issues.

IIRC, it is pretty much the same with any major iOS release.

Did a clean install (twice) had 3G, bluetooth, data turned off and notifications and locations off. Goes down 10 percent per hour, always dead by morning.

Apps installed are Skype and Facebook

Its bizarre as im not whinging it really is severe and I know all about clean install and not restoring from backup, actually pulling my hair out thinking what else it could be

Would somebody please enlighten me?

What is the point?

If the device has to be plugged in, the computer has to be on, iTunes has to be running, WTF, why not just plug the device into the computer? It would be a lot faster, that's for sure.

Guess I'm missing something here.

I thought Wireless Syncing was going to be via the Cloud.

Different things man. Backup/sync to iCloud is possible, as is WiFi sync to iTunes, as is tethered sync to iTunes.

To the people running Beta 2 on iTunes Beta 2 who cannot use WiFi sync... You ARE running Mac OS 10.6.8 aren't you? It's a requirement according to the release notes.

Got Wi-Fi sync working! :)

Gotta update to 10.6.8, d'oh. Thats a fair requirement (I just wish they would have told me!)

Ha! That's my problem. Missed it in the notes.

Any one else using the 64Bit Windos iTunes Beta 2 saying corrupt when trying to unzip?

Nope, it unzipped fine for me. Usually when you get that error, the download stopped prematurely. Right click on the zip and under properties, it should list the size as 75.9MB. If it's less, it didn't download it all.

everytime I try to restore to beta 2, i get this error that says unable to restore (3194)

I am using windows...it worked with the beta 5.0 1 but this one will not work and I also have the itunes 10.5 beta 2 as well

any help would be appreciated, thanks

Is anyone having problem with facetime verifying their mobile number ? Also when iMessage is 'Waiting to activate' it is saying my Apple ID password is incorrect ?

Im hoping for better battery

Is it just me or was the battery life shocking on V1 like there was a leak somewhere?? It was so bad on mine I had to go back to 4.3.3

Was the same for me. Even after a clean install.
So I had to disable both "Find my iPhone" and Ping and battery went back to like it was before. I'll try to enable them back with beta 2 and see.

Noticed two things so far that haven't been mentioned:

When you scroll up in messages to read old messages, the keyboard hides so that you can view them on the whole screen. Super useful!

In Settings > General > Accessibility > Physical & Motor there seems to be a new Assistive Touch Menu that looks like it could be very interesting for gestures in the future for iPhone...

I just upgraded from Beta 1 to Beta 2 and restored from my iCloud backup in 3 minutes. It restored all my settings, apps, text messages, contacts, photos, etc. Pretty awesome!

Same here. My first icloud restore. I have to say I'm IMPRESSED !!!

Hmmmm ...
I have a weird bug to report.

"Waiting for changes to reconcile" ... the final sync step ... is persistent on my iTunes now. It just hangs there (indefinitely), even though the phone seems to have finished syncing. Odd.

Does it every time even after rebooting my computer and my phone!

I have a question if anyone can help

Ever since installing iOS 5 beta 1 (and now 2), I havent been able to get the push notifications to work at all for any third party apps (twitter, facebook, etc). The only ones that work are text, mail, etc. Ive done every possible solution, deleting and reinstalling the app, restoring the entire iPhone (from backup), and yes, all settings in every app are correct to have them push the right notifications. I really dont know what to do anymore.

A possible reason for this could be (if I remember correctly), right before installing beta 1 of iOS 5, I turned off all notifications so nothing would get in the way while updating my phone. Could this be a reason why theyre not working now? The setting mistakingly carried over to iOS 5?

If anyone could help, Id appreciate it

i've not had that problem. i had some glitches when i restored from backup on beta 1, so i started again from clean install and no restoring at all. i think you might have hit the nail on the head with your last line, there's a very valid reason why the notes said not to restore from backup and install totally as fresh and you situation epitomises it.

this was a feature that for some reason was omitted in beta 1. its been in iOS for a while... i see where its different though. i like the old style better :/

i hope... just hope, that i am not wrong and it wasnt a feature that was in bite....
